They have stated that the whole world is open from the beginning because they wanted you to feel like Batman, completely free to roam the city.

Altair gained his skills through training with the guild and there's a passing of time in AC2 where Ezio trains his skills. I think the bleeding effect is a way of sort training your brain through memory by living it. It think it's supposed to be a Matrix like effect. I don't know how he got the muscles though. Quoting from the infallible wikipedia "He is soon rescued by Lucy Stillman, a mole for the Assassins within Abstergo, who takes him to meet two other Assassins, historian Shaun Hastings and computer expert Rebecca Crane. They request that Desmond use their version of the Animus, the Animus 2.0, to relive memories of another Assassin, Ezio Auditore da Firenze, not only to learn of the location of more Pieces of Eden (which Abstergo is seeking), but to also train Desmond in the ways of the Assassins through the "Bleeding Effect" of the Animus"

Finally saw Megamind. It was enjoyable. I also watched Robin Hood finally and it was meh.

Persona 3 will be #1

Giant Bomb didn't like it either. http://www.giantbomb.com/brink/61-26694/reviews/

Any positive press on this game makes me very happy. I so desperately want this game to be good. The original Deus Ex was what I thought was a glimpse at the future of gaming. A world where genres were less defined. I hope this game continues in that tradition.

What if everyone follows that rule, huh? Then where would we be. Happy and well off?

Already trumped. http://www.mcvuk.com/news/44272/Largest-BitTorrent-prosecution-begins The anonymous bittorrent clients are going to be gaining momentum soon methinks. (oh, maybe this is the same story, sorry.)

Never play any multiplayer only game for at least 2 months after it comes out.

Dang that was a quick change of heart.

I just think that the reviewer should review it from his own perspective of whether or not he enjoyed it and less from the perspective of how he might have enjoyed it if he liked Team Fortress 2.
-
After reading a few more reviews I think that Joystiq might have a point. Other people have made the exact same complaints or gripes about the bad AI and frustrating single player experience of this game. Others have said that the multiplayer isn't quite there yet. If the reviewer really hated this game then why shouldn't he have quit it and just given it a bad rating? Honestly, I wish game critics were harsher in their reviews because it seems like 90% of games are in the 70-80 range and I'd rather know which games really are fun and which are not (subjective I know).

I wonder how much a small LCD would cost, like one that's in a typical smartphone. I think it would have to be touch screen to make it at all worthwhile.
-
I think the Wii 2 was the opposite where the TV was secondary to the screen on the controller. That does not sound like as much fun.
-
Yeah, I could see it being quicker than having the game hitch up and load a menu constantly. Swapping loadouts on the fly would be great.
-
I was more envisioning a controller that looks like a PSP. The touch screen doesn't have to replace the buttons and is not your main display. Really it'd just replace the guide button and manage an inventory or things like that. The more I think about it the more awesome it would be. I hate games where I always have to stop to bring up an inventory screen.
-
I've been saying there will be no optical disc so I agree with you on that. As far as new control/input methods go I'm not convinced waggle will be back. Touch screen on controllers might work but that would be expensive. Unless someone figures out a better way to move around inside a game world than a joystick then I think controllers will largely remain unchanged.

My sister wanted to see Wolverine on her birthday solely because of Hugh Jackman.

Hmm... Some of the GT review echoes the Joystiq review excatly. GT: "Bots fill in as moving targets online but prove to be enormous headaches when playing offline, and they're woefully inadequate as squad mates if you go it alone. Trying for some of the more difficult campaign missions solo is an exercise in futility, so you're best advised to keep your game open to visitors, invite some pals, or stick to freeplay altogether." Joystiq: " There's no way to coordinate with your computer-brained allies, usually leading them to run mindlessly towards the objective, where all eight of the opposing team's AI players sit and wait, a field of landmines and turrets between the two forces. Even on the easiest difficulty, single-player Brink is a fruitless exercise in Sisyphean frustration."
-
This harkens me back to the Neir review. I think Joystiq's reviews are losing all credibility. Gametrailers gave it a 79 though so I may have to give this game a shot. I will say that I don't like games that reward mob mentality. I generally don't have 5 or 6 friends to play games with so I would end up getting whooped repeatedly by people who do have friends.

This exact same thing happened to me when I tried to play Crysis 2.
