Yeahh, if any MMO gets my money, chances are it's gonna be Guild Wars 2 - that looks incredible. Still, I'm downloading the Beta for Rift to give it a whirl this weekend.
-
The first link explains some possible reasons. I also got Prototype and Infamous confused before they came out, so perhaps that explains it somewhat.
-
I might nab this if it's any good, story-wise. I've been looking for a good JRPG I haven't played.

So I guess Rift is almost out, eh? March, and now dear Steam is tempting us with TF2 items and loads of in-game content for pre-ordering. Anyone tempted? I'm sure I don't have time for an MMO, but still. Honestly, I've been confusing it with TERA for about a year or so (and it appears I'm not alone - here's a humorous article outlining the differences between the two games, and offering a quick look at what each game entails: http://lorehound.com/rift/rift-vs-tera-theyre-different-games/). I've got a few Beta event invites, but I haven't tried any of them out yet. I suppose I should, just to see what it's all about. Anyone else played any of the Beta events? Anyone interested? Anyone already pre-ordered the game? Let's hear about it! Additional information: A Positive PC Gamer Preview Random, Recent Beta Preview/Walkthrough:

I never actually got very far in Jade Empire. I played the beginning a few times but always got sidetracked and ended up skipping most of the dialog, never really getting into it. Well, I finally bought the special edition for like $3 on a Steam sale a few years ago. It's been sitting there in my library, uninstalled, and I figured I'd never get back to it. Well! Turns out it's the perfect game for this laptop. It still doesn't run perfectly smoothly sometimes, but hell, it runs fine enough. And, I'm discovering how much fun the game is this time around. Yay for rediscovering old classics!

This, my friends, is progress. Srs, though.
-
That is only slightly terrifying. It's also super cool.

I can't do a beard... it just doesn't happen! I get a little scraggle and that's the end of it.

The first line in this song says, "I'm stuck in the TARDIS." Radiohead dropping a Dr. Who reference: Awesome. -
Eek, I sure hope not. That would seriously blow.
-
Ahh, gotcha.
-
Oh yeah... that reminds me... I still need to beat the first game! I was really close, just stopped playing and forgot about it.
-
Wait? Beta for DAII? Confoooozed.

I'm a Chrome whore. Fast as hell, never looked back. Mozilla is still good for its wealth of plugins and specific uses therein, but it's not my 'browsing' browser.
-
Ah, I gotcha Dean. Well that's my guess, particularly including what you said about Live not having something similar. I'm not sure how else they would do it, if they're still considering to have the player interaction as mentioned in the article. I'm sure they'll make all of this clear once they release more details, however.

Hahhaa. Yeahh, I probably should have looked up the grammar on that. The Kotaku article mentioned you could still see other players and leave notes for each other, but that there wouldn't be servers. My guess is the game will operate with some sort of P2P technology. I doubt they will leave out some form of co-op multiplayer too - initial screenshots seem to show more than one player character in some of the shots (though this is just speculation on my part).

Hmm... not sure what I think about the fixed angles. That has always irritated me. Also, that monster looks like it's inviting you to dance.

Oh man, I loved the characters for DDS. I thought the voice acting was 70% amazing and that the story was unique and fascinating. No, the characters didn't start out that way, not even close, but as the game (I count 1 and 2 as the same game, really) progressed, they all developed magnificently.

The first trailer with gameplay for Dark Souls, and it looks... oh man. So good. For those that don't know, this is the spiritual successor to Demon Souls, which I think is quite exciting. Rather than basically throwing together a new tileset from the first game, it looks like they've really gone for the overhaul here - as in a proper sequel. I'm tired of sequels that don't change up the formula, and just make small tweaks and improvements, add a new setting. I'm particularly excited that it's going to be one large world, as opposed to instanced portions. The potential for further greatness just seems to be dripping from this. What do you folks think?

It seems there's an Open Beta starting tomorrow, and they're even giving away super limited edition copies of the game to random participants. http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/02/01/kz3sweepstakes/ Who's in? I'd love to give this a shot, but I dunno if I'll get a chance to hang out with my PS3 this weekend. Gwurr.

Haha. What did he ban you for, do you remember? -
That's the thing though - from what I've seen of the gameplay, at least for the PC, it's not a generic action game, not even close. It's still an RPG, but at a faster pace. Either way, we will all be able to tell conclusively whether our fears and doubts are warranted in about a month.

I find this to be an attractive trait in women, even if it's absolutely hypocritical on my part. It's bizarre and as my friends have pointed out absolutely illogical, but still.

Duuuuude. Total Kotaku plagiarism. http://kotaku.com/5749434/what-are-you-listening-to Hee. Not really probably, but steeeel. -
Didn't notice you saying this- but I've thought at least 3 times over the last couple of weeks "I have to goddamn tell Dean how to say "have" or "'ve" properly." Good call, you Hot fiend! Other futile activities to participate in also include: -Hunting for ghosts -Developing cold fusion -Resisting the Borg Your refusal to budge in this regard is admirable.
