Trade-in iPod Touch (2nd Gen) + Trade-in PS3 Phat (if cheaply repaired) + Sell old HDTV + Birthday Money + Next Paycheck = NEW PS3!
-
Would that equal new PS3 and a couple more games maybe? HOPEFULLY?
-
My iPod could get me $65, if my PS3 can be repaired cheaply, another $65(-repair cost). I want to sell my old HDTV for $80, and I have $60 in cash. If I'm patient, my paycheck will make up the difference and I could get that AC3 500GB bundle for $300.
-
Have you seen how much broken PS3s make on eBay? It may be worth just flogging it on there without fixing it.

I'm pretty set on getting the remodeled PS3, but I still need to get my game disc out of my dead PS3. On the phone with the repair guy and the whole time I feel like he's coming up with excuses for me to pay him for something. "I could have been a memory problem all along, or you know we could replace the motherboard. If you get a new PS3, it'll have this problem too!" Probably, but the difference will be that a new one lasts 4 years as opposed to my twice "repaire...

Can't imagine much a hobbyist could do for diagnostics with how it's locked down software-wise... the hardware is definitely no small feat to analyze.
-
He has the tools and equipment, and even showed me the GPU chip on another board that was completely crapped and a container of lead solders he would replace on the board. He's a real technician, it's just I don't think he knows more than standard repairs on consoles. According to him, he's only had one other client with trouble after a reball and he said it involved the memory chips on the board. But for me he gave me a second reball and it did work until yesterday.
-
Just, even if he were to find a "solution," it would cost money and with how my console has failed twice after being repaired, I feel more comfortable with simply buying a new system. Like, even after my second reball I was paranoid about keeping my PS3 alive. Really, I had to get a second "permanent" fix. I have read online that others have had to get another reball because there is something else going on in the system, but that's it: I think my PS3 is flat out dead now.

I woke up to the sound of a few electronic beeps. I get out of bed and notice my PS3... and its flashing red light. I push the power button, and there it is... a THIRD YLOD! During it's self-update, it just up and died again. I can take it back to the repair shop... but at this point I want my copy of Borderlands 2 and keep an eye out for deals on the remodeled PS3.

That's my intention, but I wish I hadn't put down $60 last night for Dishonored either. I could probably return it because otherwise I would have $200 saved up already for the new $270 PS3 bundle.
-
Much respect to you for trying to keep that machine alive, though. Not many people have that much love for one machine.
-
Agreed. My heart goes out to you. Outside of a few of my guitars, my PS3 is probably my most prized possession... so many hours of hard work, fun, and entertainment put into that thing. I'd be upset if something happened to it (and it doesn't even have PS2 backwards compatibility!).
-
Scratch White 2, I'll get Dishonored... but I'm going to play Borderlands 2 until I'm finished with it. Besides, with how invested I was with the last Pokemon, I don't have the time to sink into pocket monster strategy.
-
I set my game of Borderlands 2 to Public... not a single soul joined my game in the two hours I played.

One of those nights where I am unarguably wide awake. On a sidenote, that roommate of mine might have these weird quirks to him simply because of his stupid as hell sleeping patterns.
-
What are his sleeping patterns like? I have a pretty fucked up sleep schedule so I'm curious. Luckily, my roommate has next to no responsibilities so it's not an issue.
-
It comes down to him either feeling like he needs to go to bed early so he can wake up in the middle of the night to do homework, or stay up in the middle of the night to where the common area becomes a second bedroom to him.
Literally a week ago he complained to us to keep it down at 7:00 pm because he needed to wake up at 2:00 am to study.

Feeling like posting a new roommate rant. Seriously, who puts acne cream in the refrigerator (and yes, I checked to see the temp storage, it's suppose to be room temp).

Maybe he's some kind of perv. Do your socks seem out of place at night? Does your toothpaste taste like poi?
-
I... gotta agree but with dog food. I hate going to my parents, opening the fridge and seeing dog food there. It'd be fine if the labels SCREAMED at you dog food, but as they are you only realize it's dog food after you've set your eyes on it, decide you want it, and then read carefully. Ultimate doggy disappointment

Not fond of someone's creams around my food FDS. All it would take is for the thing to tip over with a loose cap and there's medical cream all over people's food.

Pretty sure I'm at that stage of illness where my body is getting better, but all the coughing and sneezing is the virus trying to spread to others. Still a better story than Resident Evil 6 as far as I can tell.
-
You know your job is absolute shit when, clearly being sick and coughing everywhere, your supervisors and manager act like it isn't problem. Yeah, working around food, but it would be a bigger issue if I wasn't there... Willful ignorance at its finest.
