  1. I've already made a second home underground in the cave I was tunneling, but I guess I get frustrated when, during my travels, a frickin' skeleton pops out of the corner and gets the best of me. Also, I've made a second bed which is now in the second home, but when I died it still sent me to my first bed. I even slept in the second bed, but I guess you can only have one bed be a spawn point. So I'll have to travel with one in hand?
  2. I was about to post James Rolfe's (AVGN's) Zelda Timeline video as well. The only Zelda games I have not played are Four Swords Adventure and most of Minish Cap. The copy of Minish Cap I had was faulty, so I couldn't get far because saving didn't always work. Still, I always hear people putting Minish Cap in the beginning, and Four Swords and Adventures right afterward. I dunno, but it always feels weird to have Ocarina be close to an origin story. Then again, this is where we have Ganondorf and his powers increased through the Triforce of Power.
  3. I've begun to notice my grammar is suffering. Might be the lack of sleep, or simply how this is entire week has been filled with stress.

  4. Just start storing items in chests and take the bare minimum with you when you go out mining or whatever. Yeah, but when I find ores and other items before I can put them into a chest. Is it a good idea to make a lot of chests while navigating? Like, not outside, but when underground and you're basically making your own path.
  5. This is actually what I meant; sorry for the hyperbole. It being not obvious or set in stone, that's a perfect description. I mean, I want to say it feels like there's no attention to detail, but there is detail... It just doesn't always seem to fit "right." It's kinda like the Sheikah crest in Twilight Princess. We know where it's from and who it belongs to... just not exactly sure how it should be applied to Twilight Princess. EDIT: And with Link's Awakening again, there are those who put it directly after Link to the Past, but also those you put it after a sequence of the Oracle games.
  6. I think I might take a breather from the game. I was doing terribly last night and I really don't like losing my items. It's not just a simple retrace your steps process because sometimes your items can be destroyed. Two times my items fell into lava or into a waterfall and then into lava. Actually, my last death my items probably fell into the lava below the cliff.
  7. Stupid is when people spent hundreds on an "authentic" Master Chief costume which was glorified crap quality. People have the greatest potential in making stupid decisions for the games they enjoy, no?
  8. True, and recently I had a friend who showed me some MMORPG on Android. I wasn't truly interested though... After all, while there's the potential for deeper experiences, I'm not fond of draining my battery life for a phone as I am a dedicated gaming handheld device. Other than that, the perception of gaming on mobile phones would have to change to something similar to Japan. If I may assume, the impression I get about US consumers with smartphones is that they're more obsessed with various Apps than various mobile games.

Thanks, Frosted - I had one, but lost it and haven't ordered a replacement. For now, I have a more conventional pedometer on my iPhone, though it doesn't level up Pokemon...

  10. Hey, think of it this way: It's a year before the Wii U version. EDIT: Really great video!
  11. Providing more evidence? Time will tell if it becomes a fad, not how much merchandise various manufactures can regurgitate. It shows its popularity, much like how you can find various forms of Nintendo/Mario clothing, accessories, and etc. Do I agree about it being a billion, not necessarily. Still, we're talking brand here. If someone wanted to buy the rights to Angry Birds, right now, with everything associated with Angry Birds; the animations, the products, the events, literally everything that has Angry Birds slapped to it all over the world, it's not "stupid." Egotistical maybe, but far from stupid. Stupid was when, circa 70's, millions of people bought a rock in a box for a pet, and stupid was when people blew cash on circles of paper to slam into each other.
  12. Eh, I kinda consider it to be a "fanservice timeline." Connections can be made to a few games, whereas most games you have to intentionally let slide a few continuity errors. In all seriousness, I doubt anyone behind a Zelda game cares at all for continuity. Most Zelda games are suppose to be self-contained stories that build upon previous gameplay elements, not so much other legends of other games. I think it's easy to say, on the development side of things, "Well, if you care, I guess you would put Zelda X before Y." A suggestion more than chronological fact. When we do receive direct sequels, it's because a previous continuity could be extended. Many, many people loved Ocarina of Time, hence Majora's Mask "sequel." Cut out the Introduction (dimensional shift, Link's prior motive, etc), and you could have had a completely unrelated story to OoT. Almost like Link's Awakening: it feels like a sequel, but there's difference of opinion as to which Zelda game it descends from.
  13. Guys, I think you're forgetting Angry Birds outside of the Angry Birds game. This is one game, which has had Seasons and Rio variations, that also has a lot of branded products. Board game, card game, t-shirts, plush toys, food products, and a few other miscellaneous items. You could also consider the platform expansion Angry Birds has compared to all other mobile games. iOS, Maemo, HP webOS, Android, Symbian^3, PSP/PlayStation 3, Mac OS X, Windows, WebGL, Windows Phone 7, Google Plus It's not just the most popular iOS game anymore. Even if it's a "fad," it's a large one that gain popularity where most other mainstream games have to work on for a few years.
  14. Creepers haven't been giving me trouble as of late... EXCEPT FOR TONIGHT! When I was exploring underground, before I left to go back "home," I realized I had passed two Gold Ore blocks. I travel back, collect them, and what do I see? A Creeper walking towards me. Yet, I wasn't afraid because I've killed these guys a dozen or so times. However, if they happen to get close, and dart to the left, I'm screwed. I died and got everything back... EXCEPT FOR MY LAPIS LAZULI! Seriously, I was having a fantastic run and for the only thing to fall into some lava, it was something of actual value.
  15. I don't know how "spoiler" this is, but it's the Opening Trailer, a.k.a. Introduction Cinematic. Maybe some of you have already seen it. Basically, it lays out the lore in Skyward Sword. It's quite different than most Zelda games, and much like what Frosted said, there's hinting that quite few notable artifacts will make their debut in the Zelda universe.
  16. They're practically different handhelds. The DS is a device where you play for the experience, having a deeper emotional connection to the game's plot and so forth. An iOS device is where you play in short bursts to kill boredom, yet further along the line you could technically be spending more time on small 99 cent titles because of a "rinse-repeat" design. Some of the best iOS games are simple, but go along "new challenge, same technique."
  17. Began playing tonight, got to the point of iron ore. A bunch of iron stuff, a house with a bed and two doors (front and back). I decided to quit for the night when a Creeper was peering in through the door's window. Only died once too, from two of those skeleton swimming after me.
  18. If I were to get into Minecraft, as in start relatively soon, what would be the best advice? I'm hearing it's almost a "full" game, it's in Beta... I don't know!

What you have right now is a lot better than the olden days of Alpha. A lot better. You have beds and sprinting and crouching. We didn't have that back in the day. Appreciate it.

It's good for what it is now, and there's definitely going to be a lot more content on the way. The price pays for itself off in time.

I'd say hit up the forum server, open up the wiki alongside you (Just mainly check the crafting list, should give you a good idea) and just go at it. Ask in the server chat for help now n then.

It's an open world in a very big way. If you like exploring and discovering things, you're going to get into it very well. If you absolutely need objectives to have fun in a game, you're going to have a hard time getting into it, but you still might break through.

  19. Of course, but also, what better way to launch a new console than with a Zelda game! And as much of a Zelda fan that I am, when Zelda games are on the Wii, Link will be right-handed simply because the majority will swing with their right hand. However, I do believe there's going to be an opinion to switch Link's hand orientation in Skyward Sword.
  20. Well yeah, I get Gabe =/= Valve, but he's essentially Valve's figurehead so that's why there's always going to be the transference of "What Gabe says, Valve says." The PS3 remarks are essentially Gabe's remarks, but as far as the statements about advertising agencies, those were business decisions given how Valve is going to remain in-house for their advertising. To be honest, that is the best decision, but what bugged me was how there was this tangent explaining rather than how agencies weren't for Valve, that agencies themselves were obsolete. Then you get the fanboys joining in and mimicking the remark with no prior knowledge other than "Valve no like!" So yeah, Valve is great and I appreciate what they do, but I see this "If it doesn't work for Valve, it just doesn't work period" come into play every so often.
  21. Much like Apple affects the personal computer industry, I do believe Apple can "shift" the gaming industry. Not simply consoles, but through their practices, The Big 3 will adapt and challenge what Apple brings to the table. Now, when I say "shift," I mean it in the sense that there could be an alteration. Apple is most likely not going to become a large gaming competitor, but their effect will be felt, i.e. "like Apple affects the personal computer industry." Even now with the App Store the dilemma of "content vs. price" is a larger concern. Sure most of the App Store games are time waster, but there are a few notable titles that bring a lot of entertainment for such a small price. Not much else can be theorized because Apple would first have to show a great passion for gaming other than, "Hey, your phone and music player can do this too!"
  22. I enjoy Valve's games, very much so. To put it bluntly, my opinion of Valve is that they're slightly arrogant. Not inherently mind you, but due to how (to my knowledge) they've rarely seen failure, they can state their opinion as if it were indeed a truthful statement. I think back to when someone at Valve confidently stated that advertising agencies had become moot, yet one simply has to look at the advertising campaign for Sony thanks to Deutsch LA . However, no one is better suited to advertise Valve's games than Valve themselves. Portal 2 isn't like any other video game on the market. If you go to Wieden+Kennedy who handles anything EA Sports related, the concept of robots and portal guns is going to be misunderstood. Goodby, Silverstein & Partners handled Nintendo's Wii Fit ads as well as a few others like Wario Land: Shake It, but again, you're not dealing with a typical video game when you confront Portal 2. To end my nerd rant quick, Valve nailed it with their ad, but other video game companies will still need advertising agencies simply for the fact that, unlike Valve games, they can not sell themselves. Anyway, as far as Valve and consoles goes... Valve/Gabe tend to bring great points to platform concerns, but I don't consider them experts for the industry. After all, with all the excuses given for the PS3's "impossible" developing process, Portal 2 appeared and became the best package of Portal 2. I don't say best version because the PC version has great capabilities, but then again, you got a copy of that version if you went PS3.
  23. Screw an update about an exam, I just got the Uncharted Dual Pack for $25. That sale was still in effect at my store, so yeah I grabbed it. However, I'm seriously discomforted by passing on Horrible Bosses for $23 and The Walking Dead for $30. I mean, the movie will always be cheap, but $20 off for a TV series on Blu-ray...

Truth be told I can always watch on Netflix. Same with Breaking Bad. Except I like to own things I like, though TV shows tend to be a low priority as far s music and movies go.
