  1. Even though it says 70%, I'm going to say I've beaten Arkham City. The main story was a while ago, but tonight I stopped the Riddler. I still have 37 trophies/riddles/etc left, but that's really all there is aside from doing New Game Plus. Oh, and those campaign challenges too.
  2. Ugh, I'm trying to do all the Riddler Challenges. The trophies are not that hard actually, aside from a few trial-and-error devices. What I'm having trouble with right now is finding the last Tyger camera in the Bowery. With all the enemies with guns, it's like trying to find a piece of hay in a needle stack. I really want to try my best before consulting a guide, but time is precious. Do I spend some more time hopelessly searching for little, tiny, miniscule items, or have the Great Internet Lords of Knowledge assist me? Probably the latter.

  4. Except the meter determines Catherine, Freedom, or Katherine. The Stage 9 questions determine Bad, Good, or Perfect. You could technically go all out for Catherine, but when you begin to answer in the final stage that your actions are truly more in relation to Katherine, you're going to end up with the Bad ending for Katherine due to you near instant "revelation." Right, that's what I'm saying, there was no effect until the end cutscene. I'm not saying the method for determining which ending you get is a bad one, I just think player actions should have had a greater affect on the story development before that point. I didn't like it that the whole game I was blowing off Katherine and hitting on Catherine, but then every single time I lost direct control Vincent was all "gtfo Catherine, I love Katherine forever and want to be with her". That's not being conflicted, that's being schizophrenic. The dissonance between cutscene-Vincent and player-Vincent really destroyed my immersion, because the whole time I was pissed at the game because "I" (Vincent) was doing things I totally did not want to be doing. It took almost all the enjoyment out of the game. I guess that might be when you play for Catherine because it never really felt that off-character when I was gunning for Katherine. Truth be told, yeah, your actions only alter the internal monologue Vincent will have once he's put in a jam. Stage 8 will always be Stage 8 (for those who've played, you'll get this), and Catherine is always going to be a problem until you finally cut it off (if you so choose so). Still, I think the game is a great example of taking the "choice" mechanic further along in gaming. Most of the time it is, "Will you go with Obvious Good, or Obvious Bad?"
  5. See, I think that's the key here, and something that's become rather difficult to determine. The whole Angry Birds event in itself is a phenomenon, gaining the notoriety it has while leaving people wondering just how. I've mentioned how there have been a number of studies as to why people keep playing Angry Birds, and in truth it is kinda amazing when you think with how simplistic the whole game is, people just keep coming back. It's not like there are that many collectibles even. My theory: through its charm and ease of use, with a simple but potentially more challenging goal, people find themselves hurling more birds. For a mobile app game, it's a great mix. Already the other top app games have begun to fizzle out, though not to the point of obscurity mind you. Truly, nothing in the mobile realm can topple the Angry Birds Juggernaut.

I haven't bothered with brick and mortar for a while. There are some great deals, really, but it's not worth the hassle.

I'm avoiding Black Friday this year. I don't need to buy any big presents this year and after buying my wife an iPod touch last year I don't know what big item I can get her. I just bought her a new laptop a few months ago after all ...

  7. Except the meter determines Catherine, Freedom, or Katherine. The Stage 9 questions determine Bad, Good, or Perfect. You could technically go all out for Catherine, but when you begin to answer in the final stage that your actions are truly more in relation to Katherine, you're going to end up with the Bad ending for Katherine due to you near instant "revelation." Vincent will always be in conflict, kinda the point of the story as he is cheating. He'll never be 100% for one girl or the other until the end when he realizes what he wants for his future. That's kinda the point of the questions near the end: to affirm what kind of person you are (or who you want Vincent to be). At least, that's the way I perceived it. EDIT: Alright, this will sound strange, but I had this nagging feeling ever since logging off. Basically, before the edit, I had the meter and questions mixed, so my explanation was completely screwed up. Now everything is accurate!
  8. Two of my three roommates are lazy pigs that can't throw away their trash. Their rooms are filled with their waste, but if it's their room, I don't mind. Problem: They've begun to spread it to the living room. Frickin' pairs of shoes everywhere and trash littering the tables, couches, and floors. The few times I want to rage at them, they're not home. When they do get home, I'm bothered by something else. Maybe if I injected some liquid crack into their system, they'd have the motivation to pick up the crap they leave behind.
  9. I've already put in my two cents, but Gerbil, the point of investing is to gain the most out of young and/or thriving companies. Always going with an older company will net you smaller amounts due to how stable they've become. (Unless they're innovators, in which case you'll see more fluctuation.) Yeah, there's risk. You could definitely tell that to a friend of mine who, quite frankly, stupidly invested in some new insurance company. However, Rovio is huge. I can not stress enough how widespread Angry Birds has become in the few years it debuted. Again, I've gone on about how that $1.2 billion isn't insane, even without the numbers Dean posted. It's almost like Rovio has become a miniature Disney in that they could slap an Angry Bird on anything and people would gobble it up. I like the game, even have a plush and a shirt. I guess that means I'm a fan, so take my example and multiple it by the numbers. EDIT: More clarity, less "one sentence."
  10. I've been meaning to let this out, but for the life of me I didn't know what appropriate method to use. Basically, I'm a little scared at the reality there are teenage to young adult males that have a deep passion for Friendship is Magic. At first, I sincerely thought dudes "liked" the show in an ironic sense. Then I find out that its genuine, but that's not a problem. The show is actually good quality stuff... ...but when I heard how there are guys my age collecting the toys... Like, I don't know how to convey this "phenomenon." Not to mention there's a dude who legitimately calculated Rainbow Dash's top speed to be Mach 10. Just... I don't know how... I mean, what is this I DON'T EVEN!!!
  11. Either I feel like going to bed at 7:30 p.m. or I feel like going at 3:30 a.m...

  12. If I didn't already have AC: Revelations and Skyward Sword planned for this month, I'd pick this up. The last Sonic game I bothered with was Secret Rings, which in my opinion isn't bad. It definitely had problems, but it was a good game for a while. Generations seems like a true Sonic game rather than, "Random plot + hedgehog = Sonic!"
  13. So, uh, I heard people were excited for the Nightwing DLC... but I don't know if it's worth it. Like, unlike Catwoman, it sounds like he's playable for the campaigns stuff, but I'm not sure about the single player portion. Even if he was, I doubt he has any specific missions. It's $6.99 and I'm not a Nightwing fan in the sense that I got a nerdgasm when I heard about the DLC, but I do love everything Batman.
  14. Duke, I wouldn't say you're the only one with a [guilty] pleasure for the song. Back then, one of my friends downloaded the song and we would blast it at full volume with another friend's home theater system.
  15. Apparently Sonic Generations is actually a good game. I'd say watch the GT review because what I've heard about the game is that it pokes fun at its own ridiculous nature. Doesn't hurt that it's also $49.99.

Sonic Colors did the poking fun thing too, glad they are keeping that little element too. Sonic should not takes its stories that seriously ever

Ok I've seen a few cutscenes on youtube....Sonic classics reaction to characters is gold!

  16. I actually got two trick-or-treaters tonight, which were probably my age. I looked them straight in the eye and told them there was no candy. The sadness that infected the air was depressing as they scuffled off. I'M SORRY!

Screw them! You bought the candy for kids to laugh and enjoy. These DBs want the candy for themselves. Nevermind the children. So, as houses run out of candy, and the children are turned away, these two are probably enjoying large amounts of chocolate goodness with a fat, ugly smile.

If one kid cried because he was told someone was out of candy, these guys are bitches.

  17. Finished it this morning while I finished most of the side missions tonight. I was really kicking myself in the butt for not realizing I had to manually track Zsasz's phone calls the first two times because purposefully finding ringing phones was maddening! Not to mention the first non-story comment was ridiculously short. Only need to do the Riddler stuff now, but I tell ya, having to destroy obstacles as Batman so then Catwoman can get her trophy is a bit lame.
  18. There was a Halloween party in the underground parking tonight. Last time I went, it was a crowded sweaty mess of sluts and cheap plastic. Roommates went for 20 minutes, came back and said, "It smells like vagina down there!"

  19. Well, what I'm saying is if you think about it, cut off Wind Waker and its two sequels and you would have a (supposed) single timeline. Of course, given the rest of the episode, the "timeline" seems to mean "in relation to Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess."
  20. Festival of Blood. If it weren't for some of the trophies, I think I could finish it all tonight rather than tomorrow night.
  21. Take my previous, and this comment, more as a statement on "protesting" rather than about the Occupy Movement. Protesting is a very powerful means of voicing opposition, but I've never been fond of it. The reasons I list above, not to mention how easily a peaceful protest can turn into a passive-aggressive mob, and even (as MBM said) frustration and stress of law enforcement turning into brutality. It's rarely a reasonable event, though I guess that's asking too much given human nature. To me, if someone is going to spend their valuable time being involved in a protest, especially one as demanding as Occupy, they need to have a solid determination and reason to do so. The reason why news networks and other media outlets can easily dismiss such protests is that at the outer layer you do find the protestors who are just there. If you ask them what's and why's, they'll give you a run-around and that's that. The more complex the issue, the easier to dismiss the idea behind the protest because of the weaker link. Again, protesting is powerful, especially in the emotional spectrum. That's why I believe people with weak determination and reason will join so easily without thought of why they should do so. That's what I mean by "parroting;" adopting the views of the core group (idea + direction) without the same knowledge (and commitment).
  22. Something tells me that while Ocarina of Time created the split timeline, the theory that only Wind Waker and its two DS sequels followed the Adult timeline might close off and we focus on the Child timeline which has the vast majority of games.
  23. Ugh, seriously, I wish there were more Catwoman chapters or that the current chapters were extended. I frickin' love playing as her, but I literally spent 10 hours after the second (Poison Ivy) as Batman until I came back to her, which unless I spend more time backtracking to most of her Riddler trophies, will probably only last 20 minutes. EDIT: Oh, and after saving Vicki Vale, the...
  24. I agree Rocky, but when you have such a widespread protest over such a complex issue, doing more than just shouting and waving a sign for "civil disobedience" will be for the benefit of the idea and direction of ongoing protests. I say this because as public perception steadily becomes more favorable, I fear that more people will join but merely parrot whatever the closest group is yelling about. "It's complex" should not be an excuse if you're going to create a disturbance that has the potential to widely conflict with societal function. As I said before, what we don't need is more people shouting, but more people trying to make a difference. Don't leave it to the few outspoken members, because quite frankly, if you're going to ever recall this experience years from now, you'll need to say more to your child/grandchildren, "Well, there was a problem with... government and banks I believe... What does the textbook say exactly?"
