  1. This is one of the worst days I've had. So first, I tell my supervisors of my current job about my next job. Well, they haven't been contacted by any other supervisor about my transfer (one campus job to another). If you've read my status update, it's because it turns out I couldn't be hired. Yeah, guy made a mistake and so I'm stuck with my crap job. It has gotten worse and that's why this is in the roommates thread. The three roommates are utter douchebags. I've only known them for an hour and I'm almost freaking out over how much of a hell this semester will be. They have the nerve to ask me to move out so their friend can room with them. News flash: he needed to reserve a room with you assholes if you wanted to be together. The office said only the three were reserved, and I already went through an assload of trouble to even find an empty room in this complex. They remind me of the asswipe jocks who would take P.E. far too seriously and harass anyone who wasn't playing to their standards. Part of me is pissed at the previous residents of the original room I was assigned because they treated it as their junk room. The second room I'm pissed off at because some bastard decided to occupy two bedrooms. This must be some kinda karma-like fate for the manner in which I viewed Retarded Sloth. Now I'm faced with the jackasses higher on the the food chain.

    Apple

Of course it is. Apple is the empire built on perception. Whether it's style, or ease of use or simplicity it's all in the eye of the beholder and that's why Jobs resignation makes me so interested to see whether the mystique of Apple will live past him. Eh, probably. Frankenstein lived (while short) after killing its creator, so what Apple appears to be now can exist for a long time. Of course, if Apple does something drastic, then they become some other beast that's "Wait, this is Apple?" As for the Apple-Pixar relation, if anyone has watched the Pixar shorts compilation or the documentary (forgot the name), they should be aware of it.
  3. That's the tough part. Before walkthroughs/FAQs, finding the Rainbow Drops and facing the true boss was the only thing I couldn't do as a kid.
  4. So I got a new job. Oh wait, NO I DIDN'T! I called the jerk asking when my first day would be, as it has been a week, and he says, "Oh herp-a-derp, I forgot to call you saying he can't accept anymore more people. Soorrrrryyyy!!!"

Seriously, fuck employers who can't at least create an automated reply when you're rejected.

You know what else fucking ticks me off? When e-mail people about anything (especially jobs) and they think it's optional to reply for some reason. No, you dumb fucks. I e-mailed you TO GET A REPLY, NOT FOR YOU TO READ AND IGNORE.

  5. Assassin's Creed II. I really am getting into it. The only trophy I've actually tried to get is the Street Cleaner. This is where I learned that you're technically not suppose to kill citizens. I went to kill an official, and thinking I didn't need to lock-on, I accidentally killed two citizens. Turns out I need to dump five in one hay bale, and for having almost gotten into trouble I only did four thinking it was an overall progress deal. Either way, having a blast and it's one of the best games I've gotten for $5.
  6. I don't care as much for K/D ratio as I classify myself as a "kamikaze" type player. When there are times that most teammates don't "click" together, I counter it with drastic measures. Online matches where you have to search and retrieve, well, when I have the object I don't care about defending myself. I make the enemy go on a goose chase and if they kill me, I'm usually right near the goal or I've delivered it. Kinda the point, right? Still, in basic death match stuff, I'm not going to clam superiority as I'm usually 4-5 to 5-4. I've had a lot of great matches, but also a lot of embarrassments.
  7. I got Hot Fuzz in the mail from Netflix. Not scratches or dirt... EXCEPT FOR THE GIANT CRACK! Replacement should be here Friday.

    Apple

He's more of an icon if anything is to be said. Public perception is that Steve Jobs is the magic Apple guru, but the truth is that really it: a perception. Hahaha, I watched Pirates of Silicon Valley a few days ago and the movie portrays him as quite the abusive asshole as a boss. I was actually wondering how much (if any) of it was true. There's truth to it, but like Social Network, there's some exaggeration. Still, it's a great movie I recommend to a lot of people.
  9. Looks like they did what Yant suggested. Even so, this comes off a little asinine. "Quick, return all the games with a coupon inside!" Just because the option for OnLive is available doesn't mean everyone is going to flock to the service.
  10. GameStop is most certainly going to rely on the gray area of the legality in this, that is, according to Joystiq's description on the vague nature of coupons. "Well, it wasn't exactly advertised..." and so forth. And yeah, this is probably due to GameStop's upcoming streaming service coming 2012. http://gear.ign.com/articles/118/1189456p1.html
  11. So far so good. I haven't had much of any problems other than the few noticeable hiccups others have said come with the game. I can't imagine it being my disc drive because, unlike my Wii, it hasn't been tossed around and other discs work fine. Not to mention when my Wii's optical drive had an issue with a disc, it would makes the most horrendous sound. Of course, I have a Greatest Hits edition and perhaps the much latter production release had an error or two. Still, the only constant problem I can say exists is the Ubisoft intro stuttering/lagging/whatever. I've found at least one topic online where this has happened to someone else.
  12. Got the right amount of sun: not pale, but not burnt. Warm and toasty!

  13. Daylight come and you wanna go sex.
  14. Personally, I like saying "Deus Ex Machina." It's fun!
  15. I've been researching it and others have had these moments. No definitive answer, but some assumed it was the 1.02 update. Fix one problem, create another. EDIT: Ah, I see auto-correct said "reaching."
  16. I believe this is the only Assassin's Creed thread, so I'll post a question on Assassin's Creed 2. For those of you with AC2 on a console (perhaps PS3), does it lag at all for you? My main concern is that the Ubisoft logo stutters/lags, but I can't help but feel like the voices don't exactly match with the characters' lips. So far nothing major, other than the Ubisoft intro goofing up. EDIT: So, I've gotten as far as getting the assassin's robes. The game has frozen one (I purchased the first treasure map) and there have been moments of (massive) low frame rate. I've always know the Assassin's Creed series has been recognized as, I would say, "buggy quality." I dunno, like eating amazing ice cream with the worst sprinkles.
  17. So yeah, I've gone on about the whole "pre-order AC Revelations at Best Buy, get AC2 and Brotherhood 50% off!" Well it turns out, though the weekly ad says "these titles," only one of the games will be 50% off. Of course, it will be AC2 as it's the lowest priced of the two. With the pre-order price, you'll be paying $15 for AC2, but I had a $5 certificate so I only paid $10.45.
  18. Seriously, my (now) old roommates thought the movie was terrible. I want to say I'm surprised, but when we were at a Redbox, the movies they wanted to pick out affirmed my suspicion in their "taste." Anyway, I thought it was really good and I didn't see it until it was out on store shelves. I didn't buy it even as I watched it with friends.
  19. Oh yeah, it turns out I've got a $5 certificate from Best Buy. If I had done a little more shopping, I would have gotten a $10 one. Eithey way, looks like I'm getting AC2 and Brotherhood for $25 tomorrow!

Awesome! Love those games, Brotherhood especially.

  20. To echo the earlier comments, it's mostly about who you know. Seriously, most of my jobs have been through connections. I've posted my resume, and etc, on the state's job site, but I would get weird businesses and just as many scams. I got fed up with having to filter through the scams and crap jobs that I began talking to retail businesses of interest. I have only about a month of retail experience. In this recession, everyone wants someone with at least three months experience. It's a catch-22. Stores want workers, I want to work, they say get experience, but who is going to give me that experience. I mean, if I'm pushing stuff I know about, the only thing I need to be trained on is their rules/regulations. Enough about me; as I said it's primarily about connections. If you want a career, you should find internships. I don't know about across the pond, but my latest jobs have been on campus. I finally got out of my crap job of 1.5 years and I'm transferring to my new one with more hours and better pay. Seriously, I can't survive at $134 every two weeks. Now it'll be $270!
  21. I've seen Shaun of the Dead three times. I've only seen about 20 minutes of Hot Fuzz; I'm going to rectify this as it's next in my Netflix DVD queue. So yeah, Shaun of the Dead is spectacular. I think one of my favorite parts is when they're tossing vinyl records at two zombies.
  22. Seven Samurai! I mean, I've watched Bug's Life and Samurai 7, so might as well see the inspiration for the two. It's 3 hours and 37 minutes long, but there are hardly moments where it lags, though you'll definitely find moments where they could have cut time. I want to go into it, but it would be a lot of spoilers like how some people die and etc. I will say, the line (to summarize) "The victory goes to the farmers" works in context to this film. In the anime Samurai 7, eh, no. The samurai in that anime have taken down a capital space ship while blowing up mecha samurai and all kinds of manner of awesome. The farmers helped defend their village once, while merely providing some support in the finale. I'm probably sounding vague, but basically Sanbei (the leader) said he has always been on the losing side. At the end he claims that he and his other samurai friend have lost again whilst "the victory goes to the farmers."
  23. All the more hilarious when you consider Microsoft has begun phasing out 360s in Japan. http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/118/1188829p1.html
  24. My roommates are going to be 50/50. I say that because the three of them requested three rooms together, thus these guys are friends and could potentially be similar. Rather than getting three strangers, it's going to be a group. So yeah, either I'm going to have three nice guys or complete dicks.
  25. Hey, HEY! How come no one told me the Portal 2 70's style movie poster was for sale! It's $40, so it looks like I'll still be waiting... probably when the free DLC comes mid-September.

    1. 「Advent Chaos」

      「Advent Chaos」

what? $40!? That's a bit high... if it comes framed and all then it might be kinda nice. Wait who's selling it?
