  1. No spoilers, just I realized I could be playing this game more creatively.
  2. I guess I could see the problem with rain. It has gotten in the way some times, but I acknowledge it as a mechanic to challenge you in traversing differently than just straight climbing upwards. Granted when I need to collect a single "item" off the roof of a house, that's frustrating. Only other method would be to run up the cliff next to the village and gliding down. Not exactly a equal alternative. The first frustration I've had with the game are the motion control of those tilting puzzles you mentioned, Cowboy. Another thing I learned is that apparently you could just flip the entire structure around and use the flat underside... Damn it/ On the spoiler:
  3. Okay, just beat my first boss. If you haven't done Zora's Domain yet...
  4. Got some quality time with the game today. I don't really want to spoil anything for those who haven't played yet because even the small things in this game are amazing.
  5. While it wouldn't be factually correct to say everyone who got a Switch also got Breath of the Wild, I wouldn't doubt a majority of Switch owners have Breath of the Wild. Just from my personal experience of waiting to pick up my pre-order, nearly every Switch was coupled with Breath of the Wild. Like I mentioned in the Zelda thread, people were assuming I was getting it for Switch when, nope, I was sticking with Nintendo's now-prior console the Wii U. While the PS4 is already established in market, a video game is a video game and not everyone has the same taste. Hell, not everyone has the same priorities because there are a lot of great games coming out in March. If you've got limited time and limited funds, you've got to make hard decisions. It's a big market so there will definitely be consumers to buy what you're selling. The success however isn't strictly based on how big of a market you find yourself in. It's how well you can appeal to the wants and needs of the consumer. I wouldn't worry about Horizon success. It'll do fine. That said, I actually don't see the two directly competing now as Horizon ends up competing to what other PS4 titles there are or will come out. It's just that Breath of the Wild is the new hotness and it's getting all the (well deserved) love. If you only have a PS4, you're probably looking into Horizon, though there are some other tempting titles weeks away. If you only have a Wii U you're looking at Breath of the Wild (because what else is there). If you've got both, it's up to time, money, and taste. Both are open world so you've got to pick which one you want to dive into for the next 50 (or 100) hours. After that, did you want to pick up one of the recently released titles or go back to that previous title you had to pass on?
  6. Breath of the Wild is gorgeous, I love it, and the Old Man is a great level of wit and snark.

Yeah, it's great. The scenes with voice acting are great, especially the first one. I love the shrines, doing lots of little dungeons in between over world exploration really keeps things fresh.

  7. Picked up the game on Wii U with no problems. Looked like the Switch was very popular. People thought I was getting it for the Switch, but nope I was like it's on Wii U too ya know. Decided to hold off on any Amiibo since without the Amazon Prime discount, it payed $59.99 plus tax.
  8. On the unusual side, Switch cartridges have a bittering agent to prevent young/stupid kids from eating the cartridges. Was that a problem with DS/3DS cartridges? Like, I commend Nintendo for the inventiveness, but have children actually swallowed cartridges before? I guess it would prevent pets from chewing on them too.
  9. Two things: 1. The original Legend of Zelda could be considered an excellent example of 8-bit open world gameplay. While there was a recommend order of dungeons, nothing told you where to go and what to get. It was yourself and a paper map in the land of Hyrule. With the Internet we can easily find the dungeons, but back then it was truly an adventure one undertook to complete The Legend of Zelda. 2. I've always considered ProJared to be the more unbiased and critical reviewer out there on YouTube. He even addresses how Zelda games can sometimes get a pass just for being Zelda. His review touches upon all the concerns and he prefaces his score with a calm and level statement of its review. Other sources/outlets I follow are strongly cautioning gamers to try their best to avoid spoilers. Not for plot reasons, but just the gameplay itself will be the more gratifying when you discover it yourself. What enemies you'll face, what weapons you'll discover, and the environments you'll be exploring at your own will. I think I may have my new favorite game of all time...
  10. So no changes were made to PTR Bastion when the update went live, and as expected, he's pretty damn OP. This isn't coming from someone who plays Competitive, this is from someone who just plays and notices these things. Of course, this has been the topic online in the Overwatch community since yesterday. Rightfully so because quite frankly Bastion is a beast of a character with his passive Ironclad. That's the main problem; not his mobile heal, faster transformation, or better Recon primary fire. Those I felt needed to be implemented for Bastion to be a serious contender once again. Nah, that 35% reduction of damaged combined with his healing and damage output is ridiculous. I was killing it as Bastion last night. The only times I was dying were when I was in Recon mode (no Ironclad active) or the other team effectively ganged up on me when I had no one to assist me. The match ended with me in the Tank Configuration Ultimate, nanoboosted, and wiping out half the opposition. That's to be expected, but what's not is surviving an angry Reinhardt pinning you, and hitting you two times with his hammer. Mind you Bastion no longer gains armor when turning into a tank. You can go onto the subreddit and read people's horror stories. There are some good videos out there too of Bastion just powering through Ultimate after Ultimate. EDIT: Oh yeah, and the D.Va Defense Matrix bug that is pissing me off. So definitely don't feel like playing Overwatch until this gets resolved. D.Va is my #1 Hero and to have her Defense Matrix essentially broken any time you're engaging more than one target is no good.
  11. So yeah, you can buy Breath of the Wild digitally, but there's no discount. Also, as has been implied, I don't typically do digital on the Wii U. Last time I did it was for Pikmin 3 and that was a free offer. I've pre-ordered the game through Best Buy and reserved it at my local store. I was TWO points away from a $5 off certificate. Best Buy no longer does those simple customer surveys for a handful of points. You can write a review for 25 points, but it seems to take almost 20 days to receive the points.
  12. Well, I'm getting my copy of Breath of the Wild at Best Buy. Amazon a few days ago issued me an email saying the item did not have a release date. In the past this has happened where Amazon needs to adjust a few things on the product's page and things are back to normal. This evening it still didn't have a release date and that concerned me. I called the customer support phone line and after the initial, "Yes, I know it's not released yet" I got a half answer of I would be receiving it April 12. I'm respectful on the phone because I had that type of job for a little while (and it was Hell mentally for me), but I stressed the point that I was still allowed to pre-order and given a guaranteed delivery date. Not an estimated delivery date like Free Shipping. Big Ol' Two-Day Prime Shipping. My only concern is if Best Buy will in fact have enough copies locally. If anyone is at fault, it's probably Nintendo because this is starting to smell like the limited quantity garbage as of late. Seems those who ordered the Switch version are fine. Then again I don't expect many people jumped on the Switch wagon yet so I can't imagine that version selling out.
  13. I've got to use it for this academic site that still uses old plug-ins and etc. I don't use it enough to know what could be wrong with it now a days.
  14. Been meaning to post this here since I saw it on Reddit earlier this morning. The Legend of Zelda, as saucy as ever.
  15. On unlucky nights when it strikes midnight, the moon shines with a sinister red glow. This is call blood moon. I half expect the Moon Presence to descend on Link.
  16. I've pre-ordered Breath of the Wild. I've got that Zelda fever!

  17. For Honor seems like a cool game, but it also seems like a game that'll lose its appeal in a few months and with the game being online driven, I don't know if I would play it.

Right. The French company Ubisoft is going to follow the BRITISH spelling. IF YOU WANTED U IN FOR HONOR YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE INVADED FOR 100 YEARS EY?

About the only good thing about it being French is no "u". Spent an hour in it earlier because we got it for free. Not bad, but not nearly enough to really tell if it's any good.

  18. Oh shit you actually go into chat? Nope. I've never text chatted, or spoken to anyone whilst playing this game. Just the text chat, not voice. Most of the time it's to give teammates a heads up on opponents. Other times it's goofing around before or after. In this Custom games stuff, I've been more chatty given that the mods do ask how they can tune the game. A few times the mods are dicks thinking they have a good balance when in reality they don't know how to character balance for crap.
  19. It's a cool feature, but it's a bit hit-and-miss if you can find a good custom game. There were some really broken ones I played tonight and the mod was being a dick. Other times I thought the game was reaching a good balance, but there's bound to be someone unhappy that their character isn't 300% health with 150% speed and reduced cooldown. Funny enough, I played one of those boss battle types where the players said it was too easy. I was picked boss and won. It was hilarious to see chat wig out.
  20. Resident Evil 7 First playthrough at about 9 hours, though it would have been about 8 hours if I hadn't been retrying a few scenarios and... I got 19/20 Mr. Everywhere statues without any help. Kinda pissed about being off by one. I looked up a video and it was the one under the net in that shed on the dock after fighting a handful of Molded. I swear it wasn't making a sound when I got there, but in the video it was making a sound. Still, it's the only one that's laying down while all the others stand up. 15/18 Antique Coins and 56/72 Files. Used 42 Health Items. Ending was dirt easy with all the Remote Bombs I got, though word to the wise don't try them on the final boss. Mainly because you can get instantly killed trying to set them up.
  21. In case you haven't read up on GameStop's Circle of Life, Mega64 sums it up nicely.
  22. That moment when you forget to press Share to save your hilariously glitchy boss fight with Marguerite. Had her stuck in an infinite walk cycle in that short entryway upstairs. I actually had restarted because it didn't seem like she was taking damage. I mean, I wasn't sure it was her boss fight and didn't want to have wasted 400 Burner Fuel. Jack's was easy to tell, her's not so much.
  23. It has been far too long. This was another rare cartoon my father would actually follow along with me. I told him about the revival and how Jack has been in the future for 50 years. "Wait, he's in the future?"
  24. Personally I enjoyed Killzone 2's multiplayer more than 3's. It had obvious inspiration from Team Fortress 2, but everything was enjoyable and exciting. I felt 3's was slimmed down too much for my liking. Not to mention I didn't like a lot of the maps.
  25. The Zaibatsu are always worth watching.
