  1. Can't say I agree with that "missing feature" list as a whole. Too many of those are power user options. Though I would like them I don't see them at all necessary for an widely used OS. The stuff that OSX does would be nice though. It's less drastic than you think. It's hot corner>"setttings" button>shutdown. It's not as fast, but I think that's because they're trying to point out that you don't really need to shut down your computer all that much these days. Obviously there's still hardware keys that can handle that. Anyways, the "settings" button is just a hot corner popup. It's not a full menu. Anyways, after using Win 8 all weekend and coming back to WIndows 7... I am definitely more comfortable on this side, but I miss the hot corners and overall look and feel. Windows 8 is damn smooth. Also as someone who uses a dual monitor setup I didn't have any problems. With the work I do from home I was in the desktop environment the whole time and would only use metro (remember, it's the new start menu) to launch apps.
  2. Bottom left is what I'm talking about. The bottom/top right hot corner is more than a start menu. Bottom left is start (metro), and top left are your metro apps. I hope someone tweaks that one to be able to be your non-metro apps. Anyways, I've been using it all day. I'm not sure my productivy was all that much lower as I wasn't doing a lot of window switching and once I figured out what to do/not to do with Metro... well it felt just like Win 7. The smoothness the UI has now makes it quite pleasant to use. Ditto for the explorer ribbon. No more digging through menus! I haven't tried out that app that gives you a traditional start menu and I haven't really felt the need to.
  3. Booted up Windows 8 again today. You know how everyone bitches about no start menu button? It's a hot corner now. Why has no one mentioned this?
  4. ^Perhaps the marketing team is still figuring out what to do despite what the intents of the devs?
  5. They've made it pretty clear from the start you'll kill people on both sides of the conflict.
  6. WHAT THE HELL IS THE ''' BUTTON!?
  7. Implying everyone plays at a desk using their PC http://www.steampowered.com/steamworks/thebigpicture.php
  8. Plural? Do you have another example?
  9. Are you telling me you can't buy a controller with a rechargable battery these days?
  10. It makes you worried that they're taking their time to finish a project instead of rushing it out to meet a deadline? You have it backwards.
  11. Perhaps Grimrock was still figuring out it's GoG deal and stuff. It's not self-published like D3.
  12. That's mighty useful. One thing I love about MotionInJoy is that it has a 360 controller emulator so using it with 360 compat games is incredibly easy.
  13. Thing is holding out digital release until retail release does the exact opposite of helping with server load and customer support since instead of a rolling release of a million one day and a million more a few days later you have several million all on at once. Which then leads to the stupidity of Diablo 3 having you wait out 40 seconds before you can log in to play your game. This is exactly why even if I had the money I would not buy it on day one. I want to warn my friends about this... but it'll break some of their hearts.
  14. Why not set two release dates? Digital has the advantage of having it the day it's gold. Why hold back digital because of an old way of releasing games?
  15. Except in this case it is. Thus the comic. They have the game. They just can't play it.
  16. I don't remember that part being that bad until the "boss" portion of it. Then it was just a matter of figuring out the pattern and executing. *shrugs* Seems like any other boss battle ever.
  17. My take on Cersei, ADWD spoilers: Is spoiler not even on the little formatting pop-up? I typed it in after searching for a minute and double checking to make sure I wasn't crazy. Seems pretty big to leave out... but that twitter button is really important innit?
  18. That's one of my problems with TDK. I felt like so much "thrilling" stuff was thrown in that it felt forced. Especially considering how long the movie goes on and on for.
  19. Apple's had the ability but IIRC has never used it.
  20. I watched The Thin Red Line last night. Incredible film.
  21. It's made MS a shitload of money because of the lower starting price. This is also why there's that rumored subscription service.
  22. Eating small portions more frequently rather than 3 meals a day is way better for you.
  23. I beat Botanicula a few days ago. Great game. Far easier than Machinarium though. I think I only looked up one puzzle, and that was because I was distracted during a scene when an item drops on the ground, and it's hard to tell that there's anything there when going back to that area so I missed it. Beautiful, charming, lovely game though.
