I only have an issue with people telling other people what they are and aren't allowed to have opinions on, which is how I interpreted your comment. I really am sorry if that was not what you meant. I'm not after a fight here, I just don't think you have to have played all the metal gears (or indeed any of them) to know the plots are hokey as hell, or to be surprised that people play them for the hokey plots (I don't, I play them for the gameplay, the story is nonsense, barely coherent fluff imho). I accept my tone was a little snidey. Sorry.

My thoughts on story aside. PSA: https://twitter.com/konamieu/status/641255499099439106 @FLD. Felt like you were more on the offensive than GOH. He was just saying that the story is hokey as all hell. Not that you're not allowed to enjoy it. You were demanding up to date CV's before having opinions on camp stories. Sorry if you felt under attack. Wasn't my intent. Caring about the plot of Metal Gear Solid is akin to caring about the plot of The Big Lebowski. It's not about the events. It's a great film despite the nonsensical plot just like MGS is generally considered great despite its nonsense plot.

I played MGS1 to death. Bandanas, Tuxedos, the lot. Played MGS 2 till I had all Dog Tags on Euro Extreme completed MGS3, MGS4, Played some of Peace Walker and the main missions in Ground Zeroes. So hopefully FLD will give me permission to express an opinion on MGS story. MGS lore is the most convoluted, hammy, retconned pile of nonsense anywhere. Half of it seems like fanfic of itself. The dialogue is corny as hell and some of the plot lines make bugger all sense. None of that means that you shouldn't enjoy it, but I definitely agree with Mr. GOH! that you should not take it seriously.

My favourite part of this is that she has allegedly been divorced three times and married four! So... yeah. That sanctity of marriage thing is going great. http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/sep/02/kentucky-clerk-kim-davis-divorced-three-times

Dean's probably right. A lot less thought went into this than most give credit for. Likely: - What social media are we on? - YouTube, Twitter, G+. - Do we have anything on Instagram? - Nope. - Chuck a 15s trailer up there then.

I'm still vexed about the Magnum Opus thing. Will be picking this up though.

My two favourite comments on the recent shooting: 1. "Yeah, but the USA has the fewest incidences of shootings *per gun* than any other country, so we're totally cool with the having guns thing." - That's because you have ALL THE GUNS. And as a general rule shootings are done with the shooters favourite few weapons, not the entire arsenal. 2. "What's needed is tougher sentencing when people commit gun crimes." - This guy, when he was done. Shot himself in the head. How are you going to come down on him harder than that?!
-
Just covering all the bases. Makes sense to put it on every platform just in case you miss someone.
-
Don't even know what to say. No point calling for a ban on guns, as a nation,USA will never learn its lesson. Just hope all my US chums stay safe out there.

I was really working backwards to get there. I mostly liked it because it uses the enemies strengths (spotting, investigating and alarms) as a weakness and I've not seen it done before.

He was part of a team that wrote a comedy drama called Gavin and Stacey which, largely due to featuring i) regional accents and ii) fat people being disgusting, was lauded as comedy genius. He has then gone on to put his talentless, gurning, smug, round face in everything from Doctor Who to a chat show called a league of their own. A lack of talent, plus ubiquity has led to him being universally despised but at the same time impossible to get rid of. He keeps getting cast as "loveable fat bloke" despite only fulfilling two of the requirements.
-
Did I write that? It seems like something I would write. I fucking hate that talentless oxygen thief. Fuck James Corden.

I really liked that level. It was a neat way to introduce something new to stealth games. As well as the bugle and other distractions using yourself as a distraction and taking advantage of the bots patrol routes was (I thought) kind of neat. It was more subterfuge than stealth, but it fits with the Robin Hood theme. He wasn't always a ghost, he would quite often pop up to thumb his nose at authority.

The characters as well. The local busybody, the farmer, the pastor, the affairs that everyone knows about. It's perfect.

Beat EBGTTR. Really enjoyed it. Reminded me of home.

(Wasn't showing off my qualifications btw, just commenting that despite being in a profession that pays well, it's still not enough)

If it is any consolation, I'm a qualified solicitor and I also have pretty much accepted I'll never be able to buy a house.

Shocking, I am shocked. The face I am wearing now. My shocked face. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/right-to-buy-40-of-homes-sold-under-government-scheme-are-being-let-out-privately-10454796.html 40% of Right to Buy Council Houses are now being privately let, at up to 7 times the social rent rate. "Council House" property owned by the government and rented to those on low/no income, also known as "social housing". "Right to Buy" the government allows residents of Council Houses to purchase the property (often at a discounted rate). Surprisingly, having bought their house at a discounted price, people then sell it on at a higher price, allowing them to move on to somewhere bigger/nicer. The people buying these houses then rent these places out at a high price so that nobody can afford to live anywhere unless they already own a house. Brilliant work. Simply brilliant.
-
I thought that as soon as I posted it. Meh.
-
That would require long term planning by a government that's only got a 4 year term.
-
I'm still annoyed by the bartender joke.

The only solutions I can think of are: 1. Build more houses. Whether that is the government itself building them, or actually forcing house builders to use the land they've bought to build houses on (there's a lot of land that is owned by major house builders, with planning permission granted that is not being built on as a shortage keeps demand, price and profits high). 2. Higher taxes on buy to lets combined with a cap on private rent rates. At the moment there are two main types of house buyers. Those who are buying a place to live, and those how are investing. The ones investing have far more disposable income and have properties already that they are able to use as collateral to get mortgages. They are then able to charge high rents because... there are no houses in the area for sale because they have all been bought to let. The people who are buying a place to live have less capital and no existing property to leverage so they pay high rent, and are unable to save so they have less capital etc... No government will ever do either of these because it would crash the housing market and everyone who had a mortgage would be deep in negative equity. It would pretty much guarantee that they would never get elected again.

It's pretty fucking simple. Compare Gov't built housing line to average house price.
