And I know this is a value judgment, but imo every penny is worth it. Oh, and just so you don't think I'm ONLY saying tax the rich, I think my taxes could stand to go up too, and I am definitely not rich. Alternately, my sister ended up owing to the IRS so I'm sure she'd be happy if you paid her taxes.

I'm sure my wife would second this. She found the game somewhat fun but kept complaining about why they didn't have XYZ of Burnout. Once she got other games, she hasn't touched BP since. I heard Split Second was more like Burnout than Burnout Paradise but I haven't played it.

It is but usually pinball video games aren't. Pinball Arcade looks pretty good as it's by the same people who did the PHOF series. I haven't decided if I'll pick up the PS3 or PC version, though. The eXceed collection (shmup games) is tempting me as well. Oh my backlog! I should just sell some of them ...

I love both too, though I admit the first movie hasn't aged well. That's the downside to tech based movies, eventually they'll be obsolete.

Price Chopper (a NY and New England chain) gives you 3 cents off your order for every bag you bring back. I'm sure the retailers would prefer not to give you bags. The idea of government outlawing them is just plain stupid, though. By the way, one of the reusable bags we use every week here in NY is from Marks & Spencer. It's one of those cool reminders of the honeymoon every week we use it. :-)

I find it interesting that Target has won awards in design for their new shopping carts and baskets (as in the ones you carry for 4-5 items.) Fun fact: Shopping carts were originally rejected by customers because they were either viewed as effeminate or too similar to a baby carriage and apparently this was offensive to people. The inventor of the shopping cart, Sylvan Goldman, hired male and female models to push the carts around the store as if they were shopping to encourage people to use them. He made quite a fortune off the patent royalties.

Disclaimer: didn't read the link, just responding to this one bit. I tend to agree with you, but the key is "when they are readily available". I have read of several states where they pass a law requiring photo ID for voting, and then make it their policy not to tell people that it's possible to get an ID for free. THAT is discriminatory. That said, I'm perfectly fine with requiring a state-issued photo ID if you actually do make it readily available and advertise that you can get an ID for free. I find it rather insulting when the arguments come back that Voter ID is racist or its discriminatory against the poor. Funny, I figured that it was discriminatory against non-citizens. :-/ I also agree with Yant that the Justice Department is motivated by politics more than actual justice (see the Justice Dept vs Arizona Immigration laws.) I do agree with you about educating the public about the free State ID cards and that should, of course, be included in any notice about the law passage.Which states were deliberately withholding information about free ID cards? I haven't heard of that happening.

We have party favors. Wedding cake, and I can attest for this, is eaten at the wedding. In the South portions of the Groom's cake is taken home by women to place under their pillows to dream about their future groom (or to get infested with ants) Our shopping carts depends on the store. A lot have back wheels that are locked but I've seen some with four independent wheels as well. The best shopping carts are the new ones at Target: They are all plastic and supposedly hold up a lot better and are less likely to scratch and ding cars. Also, we say "Turn on a dime" or "Stop on a dime."

John Carter. My wife is a big fan of the book series so she's been looking forward to this for months. She went in with low expectations and, in her words, she wanted to cry through most of it. So much of the film was changed from the book (and not in a way to advance the plot or clarify things.) Minor characters were made at the center. Stupid subplots about some blue energy was created. A waste of time and, if we paid for the tickets, a waste of money. Still, the princess had pretty nice breasts ...

I went to a retro game store in Albany today and heard the clerks talking as if they were in the movie Clerks. After one starting talking about a redhead wearing a strap-on I saw a mother grab her kids and leave and say "We'll look for it online." Way to lose a sale, perverts!

Digital download only just isn't feasable for a mass market device without seriously shrinking your customer base. My wife and I are looking for houses and if we go rural we'd have to pay $65 a month for 3mbps max DSL. There are places we've seen where even that isn't available. What about those who don't want to spend the money on broadband?

Apparently Target is clearancing out official PS2 controllers for $6! Guess I better check Target today and possibly buy out their stock. The PDP one at Gamestop isn't bad for $10 but the DS2 is better.

Yeah, none at mine.
I only have one DS2 for my wife's PS2. She bought a Mad Catz one that shit the bed shortly after we met and she never replaced it. I bought a Gamestop branded PDP one for $10 and it works fine but I'll have to keep my eyes open for a DS2 before they go extinct. On a side note, I see there are "fake" DS2s all over eBay. -
And yes, a lot of people at CAG are dicks. I only buy up what I want and leave what I don't for others.

So what you're saying is that this guy would prefer the PS3 controller? I got thinking, though ... I love the Gamecube controller. For games designed around it, there is no substitute. I can't imagine playing Wind Waker with an Xbox controller or a DS2. That said, I wouldn't think of playing a fighting game with it (outside of Smash Bros) or something that requires a good D-Pad (like a GBA game on the GBP) The more I think of it, I think a lot depends on which controller the devs really build their controls around. I can pretty much adapt to anything outside of say the Xbox Duke controller.

Ya know, I forgot how much of a pain setting up a new install of Linux is. I still prefer it as my OS but getting it set up is a pain. :-/ Unless I wanted to switch to Ubuntu and deal with Unity ...

Thanks I can be but mostly with things like lunch. I'd been saving for a while and actually came out $100 under budget thanks to getting some deals and reusing some parts I already had. [/quot] The graphics card fit fine but it wasn't a super long card either. I'll have to pop the side out and show off my horrid cable management skills sometime. On a side note, I installed Linux Mint last night and I've never been so damn frustrated! Part of it is my own fault (I was raised in the day when you had at least three hard drive partitions and Windows 7 created a hidden one on its own so Linux wouldn't create a fifth partition so I had to delete some partitions and move stuff around and combine them up.) Now tonight I get to figure out why the ATI driver won't work. Whee! :-/ This time I should document it better than I did four years ago when I built my last PC. ;; I have a 1TB HDD in this box as well as the 750GB from my last box but I'm thinking of pulling the four year old 750 drive and putting it back in my old box and either re-purpose that as a HTPC or something or giving it to my brother. We'll see ...
