  1. So when will Spike Lee be charged with harassment for posting the address he thought was that of Zimmerman (it turns out it was an innocent old lady)? Probably the same time when the Black Panthers are prosecuted for offering a bounty on Zimmerman's head (soliciting kidnapping across state lines is a felony and also a crime in Florida) I think the reaction is more about race than the actual event, even up and including the president inserting himself into the story.
  2. So NyuMedia is selling the complete eXceed collection for $10 and DRM free. Sign me up for that!

  3. But was that retail or used market price? Digital download Okay now that's just messed up and are just asking for pirates!

  5. I have a feeling the Trayvon Martin case will end up as another Duke Lacrosse media case: basically a trial by media before any facts (if any) are presented. The media is looking for a story that fits their narrative and will alter the reporting to fit what they want to hear. This is why all the pictures of Trayvon are him pretty much as a clean cut teenager and not those that were on his twitter account. This isn't new, of course. The news media always lets the agenda set the news stories and not the other way around. It just depends on the agenda of the paper.
  6. And something that makes me, the consumer, more likely to purchase the game early on to get such extras.
  7. I found out my CD copy of the Sonic Adventure 2 soundtrack sells for $85 on Amazon. I'm tempted to sell it but then I have to wonder who would pay that sort of price for a CD when that is so easy to pirate, ya know? You'd think piracy would keep things like that low. Still, maybe it's just those crazy Sonic collectors.
  8. Well, it's like voice acting, that shit costs money as well especially when you use first class actors (e. g. Patrick Stewart in Castlevania Lords of Shadow.) I do like how a lot of games are releasing soundtracks as a bonus disc (mostly stuff like Cave Shooters and the like but some AAA titles have CEs containing the soundtracks.) but I wonder in this day and age why it's so hard to release an actual soundtrack at a fair price.
  9. You know what's interesting? I spend about $700 building a sweet-ass PC and I'm using it to play retro-styled low-res games.

Well, I remember back in the late 90s when the PS1 and its polygonal messes were all the rage and I was more into NES/SNES/Genesis graphics. What always bugged me was that we had to wait until now really to get the sort of large enhanced 2D games I wanted back in the PS1/N64 era.

Odin Sphere? There were a few high-res 2d games from last generation.

Yeah, and there were some good 2D games in the previous gen but I am referring more to nice pixel based games like Megaman 9/10, Jamestown, VVVVVV, Retro Game Challenge etc.

  10. Well to further elaborate on my position I look at a game as a complete package. I also have a certain price point that I'm willing to pay for a game. If a game is essentially half complete on purchase with additional zones and sections costing more I will be more apt to simply wait for the base game to go down in price to make up for the cost difference of the added DLC. Some other DLC (such as say, Zen pinball tables) I look at as a completely separate game and don't really have a huge problem with. It really depends on how much I want to spend on a game. DLC also looks to be a way to cut down on importers. Final Fantasy XIII-2 was down to ~$25 from a UK seller recently but held off from buying it as my wife would have been unable to play the DLC without finding a way to order from the UK PSN store.
  11. Tick also refers to these little bastards
  12. DLC actively makes me avoid paying full price for a game. Unless it's free DLC.
  13. Bash could talk about ten thousand different things without ever getting into Japanese fetishes. Why not talk about Japan only consoles like the Wonderswan or discuss some of the differences found in Japanese game stores vs. American ones or well anything except pantsu.

  15. Playing through all the City Escape levels in Sonic Generations makes me want to revisit Sonic Adventure 2 but then I remember those damn Knuckles/Rouge levels and think better of it.

  16. Last day of Sonic 4 for $5. Still not sure if I should bite ...

How does it compare to the Classic levels in Sonic: Generations? Those were my favorite levels I remember from any Sonic game I've played.

  17. I haven't read this thread in a few days so I'll elucidate. First, the post office, like the military and the interstate highway system provide necessary services to all Americans. UPS and FedEx are good competition on the parcel side of things (which is not a bad thing) I can't see any other company that can replace an actual letter. Still, if some company did (such as Wells Fargo in the days of the Old West) the Post Office is not a forced monopoly and we have other options if we choose to use them. The Post Office is also not subsidized so that the cost of mailing a parcel isn't 10 times less than that of a competitor. Second, and perhaps most important, the post office takes no tax dollars from people who do not use the system. General tax revenue does not fund the post office (and I will argue that Post office income should not be put in the general fund!) Finally, the Post Office is completely fair across the board to all Americans. Whether you are a rich man like Bill Gates or John Kerry or a poor kid working for minimum wage, the cost of a first class stamp is the same. They make no different price schemes based on income level, minority status etc.* Plus it's a phenomenal deal. Who else will stop by your house and pick up a letter and deliver it to your addressee anywhere in the country for less than $0.50? That doesn't mean they shouldn't change with the times, but I think they still are certainly a necessary service. *I know someone will bring up the discounted bulk rate given to businesses but as someone who works for a company that used to ship bulk rate, we (now our vendor) has to presort all the mail by zip code and deliver it to the post office in a way that it can go right into their processes. Essentially our vendor is doing some of the work for the post office, hence the lower rate.
  18. What makes more sense: Buying a wired 360 controller and selling/trading my barely used wireless one or buying a USB receiver on eBay for

Nope. Need to trick them into thinkings it's a 360 controller. I think the 360 controller probably has some kind of API for it that means when devs support it, it's just the 360 pad and not controllers in general.

Ahh, I was just thinking in terms of things like sticks and Fightpads on a PC. I can see x360ce will require some testing tonight ...

      Standards? What are those?

  19. That was fast. I'm beat all the regular acts of the first three zones and now I'm going and beating all the side quests before I move on. Is the game really all that short?
  20. Saw Casablanca on the big screen tonight. Seriously, Hollywood could stop making movies for a few months to just let us watch this one film over and over.

  23. I've been pretty charitable in that I toss a buck in for the bundles and then gift them to friends.
  24. Thought my controller was on the Fritz when playing Sonic Generations with my Pro EX controller. Turns out there's a bug when using a controller that isn't an official 360 one.Guess I'm going to have to play with x360ce sometime soon.
