  1. in Massachusetts you still can't buy alcohol on Sunday. The laws according to Wikipedia: No individual, partnership, or corporation may have more than three off-premises licenses in the state, nor more than two in any city, nor more than one in any town. No individual, partnership, or corporation not resident or headquartered in Massachusetts may apply for a license, although one may devolve upon such a corporation.[7] On-premises regulations: No discounts at specific times (i.e. no "Happy Hour" discounts) or for specific individuals, no fixed-price open bar or all-you-can-drink (except at private functions), no more than two drinks per individual at any one time, no pitchers for fewer than two people, no drinking contests, no drinks as prizes, no free drinks.[8] Off-premises sale of alcohol is prohibited on the last Monday in May (Memorial Day), Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and the day after Christmas if Christmas falls on a Sunday.[6] Sale of alcohol is prohibited during polling hours on election days (subject to local exceptions).[6] "Malt beverages" defined as having not more than 12% alcohol by weight.[9]
  2. It's different. If you can't get it over in Europe it's easy enough to make. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikTLT_6y2gg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqAqkK44Qc8 The bourbon is optional as that's pretty much an American whiskey (you Europeans can use brandy or just leave it out)

    Wishlists

So my grandparents-in-law (to be) gave the fiancee and I each $50 with instructions that we are to buy something for ourselves with it. I'm thinking a fountain pen if I don't get one for Christmas. Either that or the newest Mystery Science Theater DVD set. With a new one coming out I should probably buy the most current one soon.

My grandmother likes to point out that chickens LIKE being in a coup all day and you have have to scare them out sometimes. She also said her father would play the radio for the chickens. What effect this had, I don't know.
  5. The problem with The Birth of a Nation (its original title by the way was The Clansman) is that it was and still is the most controversial film of all time. Birth of a Nation when viewed in 2010 is a much different film than would be accepted today and yet it should still be required viewing for all those who love the cinema. The film gave us cinema as we know it today. If you look at films before 1915 the only ones who were even attempting to turn the film into anything other than a simple one reeler were the Italians (and WWI was putting a damper on things over there) What's amazing is that the film still strikes strong emotions 95 years after its release! It's still viewed and people still purchase it and view it. It's not really a film that the average Joe is going to watch to kill a few hours, though. One of these days I should compile a list of silent films that everyone should watch before they die.
  6. It was released on VHS where they cut out all the singing bits. I guess they didn't want to pay the royalties on Sleigh Ride and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas or something. No matter. As stated elsewhere I have my own copy.
  7. There is but even I think The Oscars are bit skewed towards well known movies/directors. True, but they were generally more fair back then, and it's still quite an achievement for a movie to take Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Screenplay. It's only happened two other times. What at the Oscars? The Oscars were never fair. If the Oscars were fair James Cagney would've received an Oscar for White Heat.
  8. Holiday appropriate. It also explains my reaction to Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
  9. Hell yes I've seen it! I actually have the original HBO version complete with Kermit the Frog segments recorded off on VHS (then transferred to DVD-R) My brother also recorded Muppet Family Christmas (the Icy Patch one) on the same disc (complete with the original 80s commercials.)
  10. This. I'll eat pizza straight from the fridge as well.
  11. It's not a Christmas song per se but it was central to the Christmas special: Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas. It was also used on John Denver & the Muppets: A Christmas together. It's not about Christmas but instead of a peaceful transition from life into the afterlife. Something to think about around Christmas.
  12. What's interesting is I actually heard a Christian group on one of the Christian channels on XM make the argument for it. They added the additional argument that two unmarried men with no other family who were best friends but not homosexual could also get a civil union together with all the rights (and risks) associated with it.
  13. I fix computers and phones as well as do some planning and system upgrades and other analytical shit like that. In truth, the last two months I've spent most of my time doing menial work and reading.
  14. My biggest problem with gay rights groups is they are all extreme leftist groups with all the irrelevant baggage that goes with it. Logically I'd think they'd be Libertarians. I take a Libertarian view of gay people. They can be gay all they want as long as they STFU about it . I'm also for the government getting out of the marriage business and declare all marriages as "Civil Unions" in the eyes of the law. So to your church you are married but to the government it's a civil union.
  15. The fiancee and I were watching Labyrinth the other night (it was my first time seeing the film) and so I told her about this video. She didn't believe it was that gay. :-P Choose Life!
  16. Good thing you mentioned that or a certain person from TAY past might pop up and find you two were in the same vicinity and should date. Oh and here I am. It looks quite a bit like me. Much closer than my Mii.
  17. Atellier Rorona was fun for the hour or so I played it. Unfortunately my backlog is too large to play it until I finish a few other top priority games (Epic Mickey at the moment) 3D Dot Game Heroes is the best PS3 game of the year in my opinion.
  18. Two day old pizza from a Christmas party at work. Yes I am that cheap to eat cold pizza three days in a row just because it's free.
  19. I had neither. I grew up kind of poor (not like cardboard box poor but there's no way my parents were spending that much on a toy when other household expenses were to come first) Though the 16-Bit days were great for me. See, when everyone was buying Super Nintendos and the NESes and Ataris were collecting dust my dad and I went to a garage sale and bought my first video game console, the NES, with two controllers, the zapper and the power pad along with SMB/Duck Hunt/World Class Track Meet and Contra. We also had been given a box of NES games for free a few weeks before that (without the system) so I had lots of fun buying other people's NES collections for a few dollars here and there. $60 for one SNES game or 60 NES games? You decide which was better. ;-)
  20. Number of New York Yankees games this kid has watched: Zero. Take off that cap. You look ridiculous! It's not even standard issue. On a side note, I'm sure Pedobear approved of the dancers. o_O
  21. I prefer A Night at the Opera but yeah, Horse Feathers is one of their best. Will there be anything further, father?
  22. I have seen: Personally I find the list rather horrid. I mean, three Chaplin films and no Buster Keaton? Where's Intolerance? Frankenstein was decent but worthy of the top 100 list? I don't think so. I'd put Lugosi as Dracula above Frankenstein. No Adventures of Robin Hood? All total I've seen 41 so I have 59 to go. :-)
  23. Here's the American Film Institute's list of the 100 Greatest Films of All Time (of All time) How many have you seen? Here's the list: Aww crap. I thought I was posting this in the Entertainment Exchange. My appologies to the mods. Can you please move it?
  24. I could do a long list but I won't. Angels from the Realms of Glory: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-t7koyC9QE and it's more Advent (first or second) but I absolutely ADORE Oh Come, Oh Come Emmanuel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZTPJJ9sQ-E and I can't find it but Winds Through the Olive Trees has special meaning for me as well.
