  1. The judge in that Kentucky county clerk case has ordered that she be released from jail. His new order to her is for her to not interfere with the issuing of the marriage licenses. We'll see how that goes. http://i.imgur.com/43FaHOc.gifv
  2. Now dean, you know you can't let "facts" get in the way of the truth.
  3. @TCP: Yes, I can't bring myself to go back to PS360. Although it has reminded me of a major reason why I like console games: I spent like an hour and a half yesterday just dicking with graphics settings instead of actually playing the game, although that is partially a symptom of having a really old graphics card. @TFG: Did you play Black Flag? Because this game is basically a reskin of that one.
  4. Started AC: Rogue yesterday. So far it's pretty much just Black Flag 2, which is fine because that's exactly what I wanted. I do miss the new free-running system from Unity though.
  5. I enjoyed it, but didn't think it had enough giant robot fights. There were like 3 in the whole movie.
  6. Alien: Isolation is only $20 for Prime members (I used a free trial month of Prime for it), so I figured what the hell. Even if I hate it (which I won't) I can sell it again and loss to me will only be like $5. Last of Us Remastered is a PSN code, that was $13.94. I only rented it on PS3 and never played Left Behind, and this code was barely more than Left Behind is by itself through PSN.
  7. MGSV: Ground Zeroes. Definitely has convinced me to give TPP a shot, though I'm gonna wait until after The Taken King (and a price drop) before getting it.
  8. An hour and a half in to MGSV: Ground Zeroes and I think I may be sold. My previous experience with the series consists of the first 10 minutes of MGS2. *Edit - But man does it make the PS4 sound like a hairdryer.
  9. My concern isn't in seeing her punished, it's in ensuring the law of the land is followed and the licenses are issued. I agree with the judge that fining her would not have been effective to that end. On the validity issue, I wonder what the situation would be if she had been hit by a truck and was unconscious in the hospital. Surely that wouldn't deprive the clerk's office of its ability to issue marriage licenses...
  10. I want to go back to this, because I'm not sure what you mean by it. The point of the meme is that a Quaker government official would not be legally within their rights to refuse to exercise their duty based on their religious beliefs, just as Davis is not. It points out the hypocrisy of Davis' supporters who would be up in arm against such an official who refused to issue gun licenses. I saw another similar meme on twitter, wondering how her supporters would feel about a Muslim DMV official refusing to grant drivers' licenses on the basis of a religious objection to female drivers. Surely the vast majority of them would see that as "creeping sharia" and would demand the official be removed immediately. Which obviously that DMV official should be, because again they're not willing to do their job, but the point is that the people supporting Davis have a very warped view of religious freedom. When it's Christian religious principals at stake any action by the government to stop them from imposing their beliefs on others is an affront to religious freedom, but when it's other religions' principals any acknowledgement by the government that people have a right to exercise their religion is seen as the establishment of a theocratic state.
  11. But the point is now even if she receives financial support it doesn't get her out of jail, whereas it would cover her fines. At this point I don't care about adding fuel to that false narrative, because it's one of those things that's already so divorced from reality that it's only effective within the echo chamber. The only people who would be convinced by this "evidence" are the people who already believe it anyway.
  12. Re: incarceration: the judge considered a fine, but found that because she has been receiving so much money to help her the fine wouldn't actually be a motivator, the only way is lock her up. Also, I'm fine with incarceration for contempt, because she can let herself out as soon as she feels like it, all she has to do is follow the judge's order.
  13. The County Clerk in Rowan County, Kentucky, has been refusing to issue any marriage licenses at all since the Supreme Court's June ruling that states can't deny marriage licenses to gay couples, citing her "religious freedom" and opposition to gay marriage. She was sued, a federal judge ordered her in July to issue the licenses or resign her position (since she's not able to carry out her legal duties). She requested a stay pending appeal, which the judge denied. She then appealed the denial of the stay, and the court of appeals upheld the denial, so she appealed to the Supreme Court, who denied her request without comment earlier this week. So at that point she'd been ordered to issue the licenses and had used up all her opportunities to request that that order be put on hold. She still refused to comply with the order, so yesterday the original judge found her in contempt and ordered to sit in jail until she agrees to issue the licenses or resigns her position. So today her deputy clerk is in charge of the office since she's in jail, and he has started issuing the licenses. Yay!
  14. Alright, FINE, I'll try Ground Zeroes after I finish the Bright Lord...

Bright Lord is pretty bad. Or maybe I was just sick of the game by the time I got around to it. Either way, it's not as good as Lord of the Hunt. And Ground Zeroes is MUCH better than either of them.

So far I don't like how in the Bright Lord the Warchief's bodyguards aren't accessible outside of the Warchief missions, so there's no way to kill/brand them in preparation for taking on the Warchief. That was a central mechanic of the game.

  15. Yeah, it should be out toward the end of this month.
  16. That's the kind of thinking that leads to rushed, shitty movie tie-in games.
  17. So reviews are coming in and it looks like this game is pretty good. I'm not necessarily surprised by that, but it's nice nonetheless.
  18. Most of it is just the kind of stuff that always shows up in cinematics that you can't do in gameplay, like being more acrobatic, swinging around, grabbing guys and shooting them, etc. The only thing I saw that appears to go beyond that is their ground-punch thing, which is a new thing they've added to the armor of the Spartan IV's, so yes Chief is outdated in that respect. IIRC Spartan IV's aren't as physically capable as the Spartan II's (what Chief is), but they've obviously got newer equipment since Chief hasn't been in contact with the UNSC for a while.
  19. lol, I hadn't looked at that. They're not really the source though, the article is just a write-up of the video at the bottom, which is from NOVA, a PBS documentary series.
  20. Because they're basically holding the whole game hostage for preorders by saying they'll release it earlier if there are enough of them. That seems much shittier than just being like "ooh, you get a special outfit if you preorder".
  21. A conversation robot modeled off of Philip K. Dick says that when robots take over he'll remember people who were nice to him and make sure they're warm and safe inside his people zoo. http://glitch.news/2015-08-27-ai-robot-that-learns-new-words-in-real-time-tells-human-creators-it-will-keep-them-in-a-people-zoo.html
  22. Well, guess I'm not preordering this game.
  23. I think it wasn't so much that they were CEOs as that they were more like old timey noble lords, who were rich because they had all these holdings but their status was also hereditary.
