I just feel like the obvious solution, that any idiot could come up with, is to isolate the computers that control the critical components from the computers that control the fun parts, and only give the internet connection to the fun parts. There's no reason your in-console entertainment system needs to be able to talk to your transmission.

Now that you say that, I have seen places in third party firmware (like dd-wrt) to enter in login info to connect to the ISP, but I've never had an ISP where you've actually had to use that, and I've had 3 different broadband ISPs. The way it's always worked for the ones I've had is you register your modem with the ISP, and then you can connect any router you want to the modem without any special passwords or anything.

What does this mean? Do you have to put a username/password into the router for it to connect to the internet?

I have 2, but one is paired to the PSTV and one to the PS4. The real way to go is sit right in front of the TV like I do so the 5' cord that comes with it is more than long enough.

Mine typically lasts about 8 hours before needing recharged, just for reference. But yeah, it's not as long as say the Xbone controller.
