It's sad that it's easier to find a statute number by googling "[state name] statute" than it is to find it using the professional research services.

I find that physical books are the most help in that sort of scenario. It might be the only scenario in which I find physical books helpful.

I think it's sad that legal research tools are bad at what they're supposed to do well, though. Although you can find statutes and regulations with google, the interior links and secondary material in Westlaw are far better than what you'd get with a link to a state's terribly formatted statute web page. The legal search tools also are much better about keeping regulations up to date than the states themselves, which often publish them in hard-to-search pdf scans of their stat...

Yeah, I only ever use the google search to find the statute number, which I then take to Westlaw to actually look it up. When I use the physical books is when I'm trying to do a more high-level look at the topic. Google is for when I know there's a specific statute I want but I don't know the number.
