I think B2P combined with F2P practices is probably the best way to not feel like shovelware while also not having a subscription. The problem with that approach is you would have to be extremely careful to avoid turning into anything resembling P2W, because then people are going to feel like you're screwing them over even though they bought the game.

Tech vine? I think that model works with Civ because there's not really a story to that game anyway. This game, though, has a true campaign in the sense of having scripted progression and whatnot, so just adding new enemies/locations/etc into the existing campaign is somewhat limiting. I know for one that I probably won't go back to it, which means I'm not going to be buying this expansion. If it had its own new campaign though I'd be all over that.

It's not truly standalone, it requires the base game to play, just on consoles it's being sold with the base game included. It has new content, but no new campaign.

I can't play the Vita for more than about 5 minutes without a grip. There's just no way to hold it that's even remotely comfortable. PSP was the same way.

Really? Took me 3.1 hours to beat, and I didn't feel like I was being especially speedy. I also know some of that time was me pausing the game to go to the other room to talk to my wife or do some minor things for the house (empty a trash can or whatever).

Supposedly Nintendo is going to be releasing a Deluxe Wii U/Wind Waker HD bundle. Price is supposed to be $350, which is the same as the current Deluxe without a game, so that might actually help drive more sales than I initially thought Wind Waker would.

I'm not going to complain, but I can see how it could be easily abused. A lot of games can easily be finished in 24 hours. Is there some policy to deal with people who do a lot of refunds?
