  1. And the consoles have no exclusives that I care about (except Halo). So opinions.
  2. I recently started trying to play Alpha Protocol and gave up after about an hour. So there's that.
  3. I did the exact same thing. That gamepad is fantastic. Now if only we could get some more games to play on it. It's just begging for Virtual Console games.
  4. They also publish the Total War series, and now Company of Heroes.
  5. Yeah, I did not like NSMB Wii, but I loved the Wii U version.
  6. Played the tutorials and one real level, and am really enjoying it so far.
  7. You don't find someone yelling "I'll knock your blinkin block off" to be intimidating?
  8. Ooh, that's the mouse I have. I love it.
  9. Yeah, the thing I read said there are certain items that when the Pokemon holds them they go to their Mega Evolution in battle, but it's only for during the battle and if you take the item away from them they don't do it anymore.
  10. Is it proprietary? It just looks like a micro USB with a weird plastic thing around it. The 360's headset is the same way (though with 2.5mm instead of micro USB), and you can plug any old 2.5mm headset into it. The extra stuff isn't necessary to make it work.
  11. It seems like all of that stuff would probably cost more than a million dollars.
  12. He obviously meant "offline code" as in "code to do this offline", not "code that runs on the local hardware". Also, he obviously meant the recording is being uploaded, but was specifying he was not saying the recording would be taking place in the cloud.
  13. What I try and do is play like I normally would, but coach the new players along as must as it seems like they need or want it. So like you said, if it seems like they're doing something strange, or if I see maybe a longer-term strategy that they could use but don't yet have the experience to see themselves, I'll point it out and discuss the pros and cons of their various options with them, including how I could potentially use it against them. "If you do that then I'll do this and you'll lose all this..."
  14. Nintendo needs to recognize that consumers are just absolutely stupid about spending money on old games. I would buy A Link to the Past on the Wii U for $10, and then I would buy it /again/ on the next console for another $10. This is not hard.

I am far from the first to point out that putting up A Link to the Past before the launch of A Link Between Worlds is just dick-punchingly obvious.

Agreed with Ethan. There's enough good NES, SNES, N64, GCN, and GBA (+ Sega, Atari. etc) games to release at least one good one a week. They had two less platforms than that on the Wii VC and they still had multiple good games released each week for a few years at least.

There's no reason the basics like A Link to the Past and Super Mario Bros shouldn't be there on the first few weeks.

At this point, the Wii U with it's tablet controller is the perfect retro gaming machine. I know that's not ideal but better than it collecting dust.

  15. According to Iwata, Nintendo's magic comes from integrating hardware and software. Then where the fuck is my software?
  16. Well when I said abandon relatively soon, I meant in the next 2-3 years. Soon in terms of console generations.
  17. As far as I'm concerned those all fall into the "big city" criticisms I've posted above. (Well, at least Seattle, Vancouver and Denver, don't know for sure about the others). *Edit* - Also, Denver is one of the least pleasant cities I've ever been to. A big part of that is in the pollution though, due to it being a valley and trapping all that shit. *Edit 2* - To clarify further, anything over like 100k is too big.
  18. So now it will come with a headset. I haven't seen anyone backpedal this much since I got my first 5-speed bike.
  19. Yeah, its MSRP is $350 for the Deluxe and $300 for the Basic. The fact that they're not willing to take a bigger loss in order to increase the install base tells me they probably already consider it a failure and are likely abandoning it relatively quickly.
  20. I can't stand large cities. They're crowded and noisy and smell bad and it's hard to breathe. I understand they have some attractions that justify visiting for a few days, but living there? nothankyou.jpg
  21. How about "sequels getting turned into genres they weren't before", rather than each genre specifically? Spinoffs are fine, as far as I'm concerned.
  22. Good point, better get one of each color. That way I'll have it.
  23. Pick one up for me too while you're out.
