Yeah, I've heard that before I guess, and also "hop a flight", but both of those have implications of it being on short notice. You book a flight to go to Hawaii in 6 months, you catch a flight to go see your brother tomorrow.

Did TFG leave out a word, or does "do" mean "Christmas Party" in the UK?
-
People say $300 is too expensive for a new console? That's the same as what the PS3 costs (new) right now. Though admittedly it's apparently impossible to buy just the PS3 without a game bundle of some kind.
-
Yeah, my only real fear about this game is that THQ's financial problems might make them rush it out the door, and we'll end up with something half finished like KotOR II (which was awesome nevertheless, but it could have been so much MORE awesome).

What about second breakfast? Elevensies? Brunch? Lunch? Afternoon tea?

It's not that the games aren't as big, it's that the voice isn't as distinctive. The Drake voice just sounds like a guy, so it's not weird for other guys to have that voice. I have been thrown off by the Bender thing though, now that you mention it.
-
Ah, I see. That doesn't seem like quite the same thing to me for two reasons: 1) he's not as iconic/memorable/distinctive (to me) as GlaDOS's voice, and 2) we as audiences are already accustomed to seeing the same actors in different things, so it's not as distracting.
-
What what?
-
It is a good fit for a computer AI, but it's so damn distinctive that it's distracting, because every time I hear it my brain screams "PORTAL!"
-
Yeah, we did. And I agree, "book 'em" just sounds old fashioned, not foreign. *Edit* - And "book" as in "book a flight" is the only term I've ever heard for that. I can't imagine what else you would say instead. Got a flight? Not distinctly British.

Steam sales. @FDS: I believe he just meant "core". And if you don't consider ME3 a core game then you're using a different definition that everyone else.
-
Well and the fact that the Steam brand isn't big in that market right now doesn't mean it would be completely impossible for them to enter that space. All brands have to start somewhere. The biggest problem I see is that a large portion of their library still doesn't support controller input. More and more games every day do, but I still don't think it's anywhere close to being the majority (disclaimer: I have no actual numbers to back that up, that's just the impression I've gotten).

Yes, I'm sure none of the people complaining about the terrible cover have preorders for the game or anything. I really cant imagine anyone here paying 60 bucks for a game. I figure Im the only one who does(maybe 2 or 3 times a year). Maybe you mean PC(with some kind of preorder sale or special offer or something), which to me doesnt really count. Which would probably be downloadable, with no cover. Its be a moot point. I buy games for full price at launch all the time. Just in the last month or so I can think of Far Cry 3, Halo 4, Assassin's Creed 3, Assassin's Creed Liberation, New Super Mario Bros U, and Scribblenauts Unlimited (regretted that one). Granted it's a dense release time right now, and that's a lot more than normal for a similar time frame, but I do buy them. And I wasn't speaking just about this forum, but about all the people complaining about the cover. You made it sound like only people who won't be buying it at launch are complaining, when I really really doubt that's the case. *Edit* - Also, the fact that the game's probably going to be good makes the bad cover worse. If some shitty game has a shitty cover, who the fuck cares? Like you said, we're not going to buy those anyway. It's the ones that we expect to love, and want to keep on our shelf that we care if they look nice.

Yeah, GlaDOS's voice was really distracting. That movie looks so ridiculous.

Yes, how ridiculous for people to express their opinions of things! And even more so for a company to take a teensy tiny action to please their prospective customers. I voted for 5 because I actually really really like that picture, it's what I think they should have made the cover in the first place (and I don't think it hurts their "target CoD players" approach either). It's not ideal but something about the art style of the 3 way different ones is off-putting to me. Nonetheless 6 would be my second choice. Disappointed that 4 is winning, since I think it's just absolutely hideous.

That's an awesome deal. Too bad I already have Arkham City and Limbo, and have 0 interest in Vanquish.
-
I'd be shocked if they actually developed a custom OS, I'd expect it to be more like a Steam Big Picture environment running on top of Windows. It may not look like Windows to the user, but it's got to be there.
-
Well there's your problem. Yeah, this thing would obviously just be intended to compete with consoles, not so much targeted at the kind of people who are comfortable and willing to build their own PC from scratch. *Edit* - whoa, several more posts made, may edit again.
-
I don't have mine professionally lit or anything, but I still like them to look nice. @Dean: There's two special editions of Infinite, one for $80 and one for $100. As far as I can tell the only difference is the $100 one comes with a big-ass statute.
-
@WaS: Not sarcasm. @FDS: While true, the default anything is always going to be designed to be as comfortable as possible for the largest number of people possible, which narrows the design considerably. There will always be outliers, and products to cater to them.
-
Wow, I'm retarded, I didn't even think about this game having its own LE. Derp. While the LE cover isn't amazing, it's fine looking, so I retract my complaints. Still think the regular cover looks like poop, but whatever.
-
Yeah, they can have a shitty default cover all they want, as long as they give me a reversible cover or a LE with a nice cover on it so that I can make it look pretty on the shelf. Seriously, having a reversible cover would cost practically nothing, but would make the issue go away all together.

Yeah, it's like how car seats and office chairs are all basically shaped the same (except for the really really cheap ones). They're all trying to fit the same human body, and there's really only one way to do that well.
