  1. I should say I'm with Yante: I'm okay with unlocking "different" weapons/etc for multiplayer, just not "better" ones.
  2. I have friends, just no friends with XBL gold, and having just graduated all my good friends live in different towns now.
  3. Alright, now that I've read the whole thread, I'm going to say that I'm somewhere in the middle. I like my stat-whore games where I micro-manage every aspect of the character and equipment, always comparing numbers to see whether I should buy this new sword or stick with my old one, but not every game should be like that. That kind of system only works for more traditional RPGs that tend to be slower-paced anyway. For action/adventure games I prefer the Zelda-style of upgrades, where for the most part you get specific things in specific locations that really change your abilities (like the hookshot), but then there are other more minor upgrades hidden around the world (like the pieces of heart). Then there's another category of games that I don't think needs anything like that. I hate the gameplay changing unlocks of games like MW2. If I'm playing a competitive game like that I don't want to be unable to win simply because I haven't played as much as that other guy, so he has better equipment. In that arena if the dev really really wants to have unlocks I think Bungie did it right for Halo: Reach, where you can customize your character but it's all aesthetic, nothing that makes you more powerful than anyone else.
  4. Honestly, I prefer the numbers to be visible, I like to know exactly what's going on. For instance, though admittedly Mass Effect's inventory system was completely broken and terrible, it was possible to decide which weapons and armor to use because you could compare their various stats, as opposed to Mass Effect 2 in which all you had to go on were super vague verbal descriptions that made it impossible to tell whether gun A was better or worse than gun B.
  5. I need someone(s) to play Halo Reach coop with to get the last few levels done (I've done single but not coop). Thread in Event Planning. Help me!

Right now the new xbox hard drive is 85.00 for 250 gigbyte hard drive, and a 199 console makes it cheaper to do that than to buy the hard drive one, does it not have wireless on the basic model?

AFAIK the only difference between the 4GB and 250GB slims is the HDD, but I'm not 100%

  6. I'm confused as to how these fake delays are supposed to combat piracy.
  7. Hey, I'm looking for some peeps to help me finish out the Reach campaign on Legendary. Already did it solo legendary, but not coop, and the incomplete icon on my service record is bugging the hell out of me. So who's in? I still need to beat the following levels: Exodus New Alexandria The Package The Pillar of Autumn My timezone is GMT -6. Most days I can't play until after 1700 my time (2300 GMT), and tonight I won't be able to play until after 1900 (0100 GMT) if at all. Friday I'm available a few hours earlier, and Saturday and Sunday I'm available all day. I'll also be willing to play through other levels if people have more that they need to finish in coop too.
  8. Meh, I felt like I got my $60 worth out of ODST. I don't play competitive multiplayer much though, so the fact that it just shipped with Halo 3's multiplayer didn't affect its value one way or the other in my eyes.
  9. I just hope that if/when they redo Halo 2 they do it on the 360 and not its successor. My OCD means that in order to be satisfied my Halos 1-3 have to have more or less consistent graphics. (I don't actually have OCD)
  10. I think that it's likely they'll release a Halo 2 update in fall 2013. They have Halo CE coming out this year, Halo 4 in 2012, so if they released Halo 2 in 2013 that would keep with the schedule of alternating "major" games with "minor" games that they started with ODST. I don't have anything to back that up, I just think it makes sense.
  11. OLD NEWS! I saw that on Joystiq like... 18 hours ago.
  12. I like how Sony is making INCREDIBLY BASIC features like automatic trophy sync Plus-only. (Yes, I'm aware that MS is doing the same thing with MP.)

Well "the rest of the internet" then. As far as iPlayer goes that's like the 360 being only console without Netflix in the US.

  13. Thanks everybody. That SlideME site is fantastic.
  14. I'm really super excited for Halo: Anniversary, but that's because I'm a consumer whore.
  15. *Casts resurrect* I just got an Android phone, and I'm looking for good free emulators. I got the SNES9x on mentioned above, but I'd still like a GBC/GBA and an NES one. Does anyone have any recommendations? I tried google but people seem to just be recommending paid emulators, and I'm not willing to pay actual money for an emulator.
  16. Wooo! Done with the bar, and mostly done moving in to the new house, so I'm back! Although now I have a real job, so I probably won't ever be as active as I used to be. :(

  17. I have a free afternoon for the first time in weeks... I don't know what to do with myself.

      c) Alt + F4.

      d) Play some games.

      e) Not a real number.

  18. So I figured out why I'd never heard the term "riparian rights": Kansas is a prior appropriation state. What little water law background knowledge I had was based on that theory.

      Mr. GOH!

whoa, that was actually in your BarBri course? I was just joking. I don't remember dealing with water law at all for the bar.

The appropriation states are the ones where it matter, though, right? The states with actual water supply issues, IIRC.

      yeah, the dry ones.

And it was "in" our course for about 5 minutes at the end of the real property lecture, and about 2-3 pages of the multistate outline.

And yeah, we just covered it today. I was amused since before you mentioned it yesterday I'd never heard of riparian rights.

I know it is, but it's also crazy specialized. Anybody comes in with issues like that you send them to someone who specializes in the area.

    3. Mr. GOH!

      Mr. GOH!

Well, thats true for a great deal of what you learn in law school

I also suppose my property class was odd; we spent weeks on Indian law and reservations, too.

Yeah they let us stream, but so far most of our lectures have been in-person, and I like going because I don't trust myself to have the discipline to do it at home

    3. Mr. GOH!

      Mr. GOH!

When I did it, they didn't let us stream from home, though you could make up missed sessions, IIRC. I went to a live location a couple times, but it was just a recording used for the video. You couldn't ask questions (not that you'd need to unless your reading comprehension was lower than a lawyer's should be).

Oh yeah even in the live sessions we're not supposed to ask questions, we're supposed to e-mail them in, but I agree questions are unnecessary
