  1. So, bar exam studying is taking much more time than I anticipated

Yeah they let us stream, but so far most of our lectures have been in-person, and I like going because I don't trust myself to have the discipline to do it at home

When I did it, they didn't let us stream from home, though you could make up missed sessions, IIRC. I went to a live location a couple times, but it was just a recording used for the video. You couldn't ask questions (not that you'd need to unless your reading comprehension was lower than a lawyer's should be).

Oh yeah even in the live sessions we're not supposed to ask questions, we're supposed to e-mail them in, but I agree questions are unnecessary

  2. I had huge amounts of fun playing RDR. Just Cause 2 was crazy and action packed, the problem is none of the action was fun. RDR was less crazy and action packed, but the things you did were actually fun (yes, I even enjoyed cow herding).
  3. No, it's just that I want my games to actually be fun to play.
  4. I agree with this 100%. Story-integrated tutorials are shitty for 2 reasons: they're tedious if you play the game again, and they're awkward to access if you haven't played the game for a while. Separate tutorials, which you access independently and which allow you to pick which topics to cover are by far the best solution. I also like how Civilization does it, where you can adjust the level of help you get from your advisers, and then to learn the really advanced stuff you check the manual.
  5. That's interesting, I had the exact opposite experience, it seemed to me like the later stuff was much more heavily reliant on interviews and therefore more difficult.
  6. I liked Invisible War when I played it on the Xbox, but I'd never played the original. I've tried it a couple times, but I never make it through the tutorial.
  7. I don't think I used a single intuition point on my entire playthrough. Once you start replaying cases though you get the full 5 for each case. Like, it refills each time you start a replay of a case.
  8. Yeah, I didn't switch from XP to 7 until the end of last year either, so this seems really soon to me too. Of course, that means I was using XP for like 9 years, so it would be pretty hard for a new OS to NOT seem soon.
  9. Huh, that was my bad. There was a double post and I hid the second one, but now the first one seems to have vanished. Oh well, I restored it.
  10. OMG a DLC Internal Affairs desk would be flipping awesome.
  11. While not what I was talking about, that does look pretty badass nonetheless. I liked Nexus' focus on battle strategy rather than grand strategy. You're not an admiral that commands the composition and actions of entire fleets, you're a commodore who commands no more than 2 or 3 ships at a time.
  12. So the storm last night fried some of the equipment in my apartment complex's wireless network, which means my internet access will be extremely limited for the next few days. :/

Well, I guess if you're taking some easy yokel bar exam you'll be able to enjoy yourself a bit. I consider my Lost Summer studying for the bar well-spent, though.

I plan on studying extensively, just not to the total exclusion of everything else.

Also, you're in NY right? I've heard the NY bar is one of the hardest in the country.

      Mr. GOH!

Yeah, I'm just giving you a hard time. The NY Bar was extensive and the differences from the MBE were important to get right. My buddies in other states had much easier times.

  13. I want to see another 3D space strategy game, a la Homeworld. Even better would be a 3D space strategy game with gameplay somewhere between Homeworld and Nexus: The Jupiter Incident.
  14. It does? Now I'm even MORE irritated that the PS Store is down and I can't download it.
  15. I'm pretty sure it's for consoles too, but I could be wrong about that. Yeah, as long as it's truly extra, not something cut from/really important to the main game. I thought Cerberus Network was another good example of project-10-dollar done right. You get all this bonus stuff if you have it, but if you don't your game still isn't really missing anything, so it incentivizes buying new without penalizing buying used. Online play, on the other hand, is an integral part of the game, so if you make that your project-10-dollar thing then rather than being a bonus for people who buy new it just seems like a "fuck you" to people who buy used. It's not an incentive to buy new, it's an incentive not to buy it at all because it makes it seem like the publisher is trying to gouge the customer. Once I, as a customer, think someone is trying to screw me, I'm likely to simply stop being their customer, and I'm certainly going to be a lot more reluctant to give them any more money.
  16. I've liked all of IW's past games, and have not been impressed with Treyarch's, but during that fiasco last year West and Zampella swiped a whole bunch of the IW team, so even though this has IW's name on it it's largely different people making it, which means I'm just as skeptical of this as I am of Treyarch's games.
  17. What's your source on that? I'm skeptical. I agree, this is definitely the way to do project-10-dollar stuff. Rather than taking content away from used purchasers, give additional content to new purchasers.
  18. Yeah, the aiming felt wonky to me, both on PC and 360. It's nothing specific that I can point out and say "this is what's wrong with it", it just felt very wrong, to the point I couldn't make myself play it. It was very sad because the atmosphere was amazing and I wanted to continue exploring Rapture, but every encounter with an enemy was an exercise in tedium and irritation.
  19. Oh yeah, to clarify, by "points" I meant "score points", not damage or experience.
  20. I thought those numbers were points, a la Bulletstorm.
  21. Yeah, what dean said. I just meant that if they stop people from buying used they've succeeded in their goal, which is stopping people from buying used. I think though they should instead spend their resources on trying to figure out how to get people to buy new.
  22. Where were people getting the impression that it was an RPG? (honest question, no snark intended) The video made it look like almost exactly what I was expecting, except maybe somewhat more action-oriented.
