  1. I haven't really seen any developers hate on Steam, with the exception of Gearbox. The dispute between EA and Valve is that of a platform holder and a publisher and EA seemed to want to go around Steam and just sell DLC directly to the customer rather than give Valve a share of the profits. That's what it at least looks like from my point of view, and considering various bull I've seen EA pull with their DLC schemes, I'm more inclined to believe it's them wanting to save money than make a better experience.
  2. Classes start tomorrow... ugh

  3. This made me think maybe we should price games based on their metascore. This made me think you're an idiot who should be banned from commenting on the Internet. EDIT: Seriously, how can you even think of such a thing? Do you hate video games? Do you hate the medium? I swear, I never missed being a mod, but I totally wish I was one now so I could ban your ass to oblivion. This is the worst post I have seen on this forum. Please, leave existence.
  4. Hey, Battra, respect for the Low G Man recommendation a few months back.

The music is some mad awesome. And the gameplay is really refreshing as well.

  5. By the way, Stephen Fry wrote a 3 page blog entry regarding Jobs' passing away. http://www.stephenfr.../06/steve-jobs/ I haven't read it till the end, need to go to bed, but what I did read seemed interesting.
  6. But it wasn't, and it's highly questionable whether it ever would have been because Japan produces an insane amount of various media and merchandise, most of which was never brought to the West or if it was, it was heavily modified. Heck, Sengoku Basara 1 and 2 were brought as Devil Kings and were big flops. Then, all of a sudden, Sengoku Basara 3 is brought without the "Westernization" just two years after the anime aired and the Western anime community went berserk over it? The same community which watched it via fansubs?
  7. There was never a demand for cars because we had horses, but hey, someone created a car and now it's part of everyday life. People couldn't have said they had a desire to watch anime if they hadn't known about it in the first place. Most people found out via piracy. A good chunk of those people I know now import anime figures, games and various other merchandise they wouldn't have cared for otherwise.
  8. That is actually very true and history has proven that it plays out that way almost always. Like I said, I didn't care much for the guy, but he was an insanely good businessman. I do consider that an achievement.
  9. RIP, I don't wish death upon any person. I never liked Apple, Apple products, nor Apple practices, but he made the market interesting in the sense that he pushed the competition further. I saw people comparing him to Einstein and Leonardo Da Vinci. I'm with Thursday on this one. It's insulting to great contributors to be compared to Jobs. He was a business man and his business practices contributed to the market and our time, but his contributions didn't leave anything to humanity any more than Coca Cola did.

  11. It's a shame, because I heard Driver is a very good game. Although it's hard to recommend with the DRM that it has.

I agree with this! We have big long games with ever fancier graphics and sometimes a new gimmick that has a couple uses, but a creative designer could still find ways to explore what we have, almost regardless of technology.

I'm playing a lot of Shadow of the Colossus right now, and it gives you a very basic toolset, but you must learn to use these tools in a variety of ways. For instance, an arrow may not hurt a colossus at all sometimes, but it will anger them. There are...

Oh, I hate these comment boxes... that was a third of it, but now there's no way to get it back and no way to know I'll be cut off...

So without the examples or explanation that got deleted, I was going to say that limitations may not always be bad - sometimes too many options may leave the player not knowing what to do, or worse, how to do it. So for both budget and design reasons, they must sometimes draw the line and not include features that may be fun to play with.

  12. But it has only 68 on Metacritiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiic!
  13. Well, playing DOOM was fun

  14. I'll prolly try it, but based on what I know about it, I don't think it'll keep me playing over Champions Online.
  15. Finally passed the exam that's been haunting me for 2 years.

  16. http://deltagamer.com/16274/max-payne-3-scares-me The dream of every gamer: getting paid to rant. I should totally scan all my old posts and turn them into articles
  17. Yet I felt that there was more outrage over Assassin's Creed than there was over Diablo 3. Because Blizzard is the best company EVER! Duh!

IX was my first real go at the series. I liked it quite a bit, though it was tough.

I think the amped up the difficulty on IX intentionally. The originals' difficulty was guided by design philosophy from that time. IX's was guided by nostalgia

  18. http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2011/09/14/rumour-resident-evil-6-getting-a-tgs-reveal/ Strange considering they abandoned the scary factor with RE4 and RE5.

Yeah RE 4 wasn't scary but it had its tense moments... I've only played the demo of RE 5 but that was enough to decide I wasn't all that interested.

It's been quite a while since I played it (shortly after the original GCN release), but I remember RE4 having a few "OHSHIT!OHSHIT!OHSHIT!" moments.

I guess I'll see if I still feel that way once the HD version comes out next week.

RE4 had a very good atmosphere despite not being scary. It was tense, but never the "scary" tension. More of an action tension. RE5 was just irritating.

  19. First ever Did-Not-Finish review I've done for the blog and first Double Review for PXOD: http://pressxordie.c...iew-dead-horde/ What do you guys think of the double format? Bad? Good? Distracting? Good, but Declan and I suck?
