After thinking about it on and off today, I really like his more fleshed out thoughts in the articles he posted after his Tweet storm. Here and here. The tweets and articles really make your pause and think. It honestly makes me feel sad in the "I/We fucked up" sort of way. It's an odd feeling to have in terms of thinking about your country and especially since you and I didn't have a part in creating this mess. It's collective guilt I suppose? A bit too early for that though since I have a good 40-60 years on this earth and ~25 years before my niece/nephew generation get to our shoes. This is going to be a long term fix or continuous patch job. I would hate to see this shit break out and consume us. And I suppose (I can't tell the future) it can lead to fascism to rise again. Assuming it can, I rather not directly fight or have the younger generations fight that since the world had a great time fighting that back in WWII. The above is melodramatic but I can't shake it.

Next week live. Can't wait. Pure musical bliss. Edit: Ugh... I'll leave that up but: I meant to post this. Animals as Leaders.

I think routes outside of traditional higher education should be stressed. I and most other grad students I know, we are highly encouraging folks to look into stuff like trade school/apprenticeships to be an electrician and stuff like that. I've come across many people in those professions saying that they need people and are very open on taking on people. I swear most of us don't look down on people in those professions! The skills and experience they get mirrors what we grad students learn: specialize knowledge on how to do what we do well and in some case, to not kill ourselves. Like shit, I wish I knew and had time to learn half of the stuff they know. Sometimes I wish I was doing those things instead. I'd have a livable job by now doing what I have interest in. It should be noted that there are too many grad students especially at the PhD and post doc level. This system is set to churn out grads at a unsustainable rate and someday it'll come crashing down and academia will have to take a hard look at itself.

Reading through some of the comments... #5 jaggies and frame rate and #6 slowness of movement/responsiveness is kind of related. If the frame rate is unstable then your actions will seem sluggish regardless of the animation used. Kind of nice to see that they are prioritizing frame rate than resolution but at the same time it is 1080p@30. They're not or are having trouble maintaining what I consider a bare minimum (It should be 60 fps since it is real time but I'm cutting them some slack due to hardware). At least they are trying. I can appreciate that. Hope they can hit a stable 1080p@30fps.

You know what? I'll go watch some Jojo. What order should I watch it in?

The situation in North Dakota (Dean's post) is depressing. Pair it up with the Oregon stuff and yeah.

First with Space Patrol Luluco and now Nobunaga no Shinobi, I'm really digging short series. They run for a set time under ten minutes in length. Luluco run for 7:54 while Nobunaga run for 3:34. They're perfect for short stories or some very 4-koma like skits. Also being short means some strategic corner cutting can allow for some better animated or drawn sections. Case in point is Nobunaga in Nobunaga no Shinobi usually doesn't have an animated mouth but the time and money saved from that can allow for some sweet 1's action sequences. The only downside is that their OP and/or ED can take up a fair chunk of run time though. In the case of Luluco's ED, it is really good so it doesn't matter.

My Scythia game is crashing at a fixed point. For this one city after a build project, the trader menu crashes the game. Now I'll never be able to determine if I can out build and out science the Kongo to a science victory. I'm at the point where I'm building up an army and nukes to take them out as insurance. I also need troops back home and elsewhere to defend against retaliation by England and Norway. They hate the Kongo but they hate a warmonger more. Overall, I consider this Emperor game a success. Now onto the next diffuclty to see how much of cheating bastards the AIs can be. I actually don't have much of a desire to play Deity since to expand almost surely means taking cities from the AI since they all start with like 3 settlers.

And the Bundy's attorney got tased and tackled due to a heated argument with the judge over not letting Bundy walk out of the court room since he (Ammon) and his brother Ryan still had charges over the stuff they done in Nevada.

If they downscale from say 900p to 720p for AA then it should more or less get rid of any jaggies. It's comparable to a 1440p to 1080p downscale in pixel increase (56% vs 78%). Image quality should be nice and crisp especially with Nintendo's in-house games. I'm just unsure if the tablet itself has enough power and battery to do it though. The trailer hints at the dock having quite the bit of processing juice.

For it's level of resolution and beign a touch screen, if I had a fuck ton of money, a Surface Studio is kind of neat. An similar Cintiq would cost about as much.

After some point, you just have to go all out.

https://www.engadget.com/2016/10/26/lenovo-hp-and-dell-are-all-working-on-300-windows-vr-headsets/ No specs but there are a slew of $300 and above headsets coming for PC. This is probably the only real way to get the install base needed to kick off VR for gaming. In other settings I'd expect the Vive and Oculus to thrive due to performance. If this works then maybe we'll see Vive and Oculus grade headsets around that price range in say five years. VR can work but it'll take time.

Hasn't it been like this with Civ games? You can't defend yourself without getting flak from all the other civs. In other news, after adjusting my CPU cooler, GPU and having the latest driver my game crashes instead of taking my computer with it. It's a good improvement.

Yeah, that's why I'm ending up just wiping them out. In my current game as Scynthia I had 2-3 joint wars on me in the early game. A common enemy in all of them was Arabia and so with the third surprise war from them, I decided to cleanse them from my northern borders. Then the much larger Brazil decided to go for a round two and I wiped them out as well. Though during the course of the Brazilian war I had some musket-men rebellions because this war dragged on for so long (I refused peace like four times) and I was really low on cash. After a little bit, Sumeria decided to try me out with their capital on the border facing me. I didn't wipe them out since they had some sub-five city on some island off Pangaea. Now I manage 20+ cities which is a mess. I might just raze everything else if Norway or Britain decides to fight me. I gotta channel the steppe people somehow. I kind of wish we had Genghis Khan but I suppose Thmyris/Scynthia replaces him.

I just can't get over just how many missionaries the AI can pull out and they all come in at once. If the AI was like that in old fashion war then they might pose a threat but often times they just run around a city. So far I don't think they ever took any of my cities. Judging by what they do to each other, they can but I never been on the receiving end. On a related note, I love how the AI are pretty war hungry on Emperor. On King and Prince I have to declare war to expand. The AI does it for me on Emperor. I should say that while I do nag on the AI and UI a lot, I really do love the game. The RNG on resources and starting locations can make or break a game and often times makes up some nice challenges. There's also not a lot of games that allows you to just nuke the entirety of another civilization. Kind of like this:

I want to see a modern iteration of Nemesis. Have him/her be human that has personality and all that but have them devolve into mutated-Wesker, then Nemesis and then a Birkin. End with the traditional big blob they all tend to grow into as they get more damaged.

What the hell is up with religion? I can easily win with the other conditions but religion is hard. The toughest part is founding one. I haven't even gotten to the point of defending and spreading it since the AI can get to the prophets way before I can and there's only five of them. Edit: After save scumming, I got one founded but I'm not sure how to defend my city. Setting off my missionaries at my own cities doesn't seem to do jack. The stats I find doesn't indicate anything happening when I do so but when other religions' missionary does so I can tell. And while I'm on not being to tell some information... \There's an XP bar. At this point I think whoever designed the UI and information display has a very large monitor with some larger scaling or they're a bit shit.

980ti. I managed to play without crashing tonight with 373.06. According to Hardware Monitor, my temperatures are fine. Everything was about 70°C-80°C with the 980ti going the highest at 81°C. So I shouldn't be overheating. Maybe some game process together with the drivers is taking out my computer and getting people stuck in the loading screen. Anyhow, with a new game I made good on my promise of murdering the person with the highest religion before they can win the game. It just involved a pretty damn landlocked Aztec that was broken through by geopolitical version of Hannibal crossing the Alps with elephants. It almost fell apart when the geopolitical hole was closed* and by some underclassed armies. Tank army with a general saved the day which led to a captured city and upgraded infantry armies with siege towers**. Swept up the other seven cities after. *A lot of mountains, water with a shifted City-State that allowed me to enter through one side of a hex... Thankfully it kicked me into Japan whom I had open borders with and who also borders the Aztec. **Somehow siege towers still work in the age of tanks and infantry.

Weird. 373.06 (Oct. 5th-6th) allows me to play but it will eventually crash like so While very similar to problems with RAM, I don't get a BSOD that I get with RAM issues. In this case, my computer just restarts. 375.63 (Oct. 23th) gives me your problem. I also swear that Nvidia Experience gives out one for Oct. 19th... at this point, something is fucky. I may try 372.90 (Sept. 21st) to see if it helps with my crashes or just run with 373.06 and run a hardware monitor to see any thing strange. The only problem is that I have to check and any crashes will not generate a report...

The newest driver (today's) that I got from Nvidia 's website did that to me. The previous one that I got from the Nvidia Experience on Saturday night had me freeze and crash after some turns. They both said they were for Civ VI. And yes they are different driver versions. I had to roll back to the Oct. 6th driver to get pass that screen and so far no freeze or crashes. This one was the one before it said anything about being optimized for Civ VI.

I had a bomber that could use nukes and yet I didn't see it. Anyhow, next time I'll murder the religious zealots before they can get a religious victory. I easily could've won.

How does the nuke work in VI? I built a thermonuclear warhead but I cannot find it to load it up or drop it on religious Japan right before their religious victory.
