Dr Strange I enjoyed it since it was a nice ride but I have a general distaste for superhero movies so it goes here. Very trippy visuals.

That's exactly what I did. I voted for everything except for president. I'm in California so I actually do have room to fume about the Democrat establishment. Would I buckle and vote for Hillary in a battleground state? Hard to say but I'm leaning no. As the results are showing, something is fucked in this country. An insane amount of people are feeling trapped, cheated for numerous reasons. Some reasons are legit and some absolutely abhorrent. I want the next president or two to address those legit reasons. As of right now this is way too close for comfort and at the end of this night or tomorrow it might become reality.

Quite the bit of unexpected swinging states.

BBC UK website. You'll need a VPN through a service or browser extension like Beebs on Chrome. I've heard that Beebs is sketchy though? Eh. If you want to wait, BBC America will air Planet Earth II in January. Not sure why since it's 2016 and this shouldn't be happening but maybe they're getting Oprah to narrate again...

Planet Earth II is airing now and the first episode is great. I never thought that snakes hunt in packs...

Well, you'll have to get Mercy with Sombra's ult before she can fire it off. With Sombra's cloaking ability, she can charge ahead to find Mercy if she is walking to the front or hiding if she wasn't killed with the others. Sombra could kill Mercy but it might be way safer to just disable her. She can't ult or fly to get away. But yeah, I think Sombra's ult is more for getting behind a choke point and nerf the defenders. I think once activated, D.Va's ult shouldn't be disabled since the runaway reaction is underway.

https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/heroes/sombra/ Please nerf! /s It'll be interesting to see how Sombra pans out. But seriously, why tease her for so long? Edit: I just realize Sombra can shut down a Mercy's five man rez. Jesus.

Imagine a competent AI that doesn't have to cheat.

Sounds almost like me and a vast majority of the geo grads I know. To say that it is downright terrifying is an understatement. Jobs are few and far between and we're not even asking for oil and gas jobs (it'd be great though...) which hit the shitter two years ago. I believe Wally's old job was a casualty from this same downturn that is still kicking our asses. It's in the process of recovery now but it might take another year or two at best. What the fuck are those who graduated between two years ago and the recovery going to do? What the fuck are those who got laid off going to do? Yes, they say stay connected but I might have more chances with connecting with a bullet than an oil and gas job. Going back to the election and education and why people vote the way they do... people who have a college education tend to vote liberal. The large numbers is fostered by the dream of bettering oneself through higher education which was a reality. Still possible but so much harder, even to just have an okay career/job*. The educated but now impoverished people can become disillusioned and start going against the ideals and beliefs that brought them to their predicament in the first place. Most don't however since most (hopefully) have enough critical thinking left in them (instead of envy, fear and anger) to see that the goals of the right, as it stands now and for a long while, is against our goals. Not to say those who vote left are not disillusioned with old blood Democrats. Those without a good education... well shit. This ignores/glosses over things like racism, xenophobia and the like. * This is perhaps the biggest problem. People are having issues maintaining their lives. This issue morphs into this following problem: If you think (mine perhaps) alcohol abuse is bad, take a look at heroin and the like. If I make the switch to being a firefighter, I'll be reviving multiple people from ODs daily with increasingly larger doses of the anti-OD drug.

After thinking about it on and off today, I really like his more fleshed out thoughts in the articles he posted after his Tweet storm. Here and here. The tweets and articles really make your pause and think. It honestly makes me feel sad in the "I/We fucked up" sort of way. It's an odd feeling to have in terms of thinking about your country and especially since you and I didn't have a part in creating this mess. It's collective guilt I suppose? A bit too early for that though since I have a good 40-60 years on this earth and ~25 years before my niece/nephew generation get to our shoes. This is going to be a long term fix or continuous patch job. I would hate to see this shit break out and consume us. And I suppose (I can't tell the future) it can lead to fascism to rise again. Assuming it can, I rather not directly fight or have the younger generations fight that since the world had a great time fighting that back in WWII. The above is melodramatic but I can't shake it.

Next week live. Can't wait. Pure musical bliss. Edit: Ugh... I'll leave that up but: I meant to post this. Animals as Leaders.

I think routes outside of traditional higher education should be stressed. I and most other grad students I know, we are highly encouraging folks to look into stuff like trade school/apprenticeships to be an electrician and stuff like that. I've come across many people in those professions saying that they need people and are very open on taking on people. I swear most of us don't look down on people in those professions! The skills and experience they get mirrors what we grad students learn: specialize knowledge on how to do what we do well and in some case, to not kill ourselves. Like shit, I wish I knew and had time to learn half of the stuff they know. Sometimes I wish I was doing those things instead. I'd have a livable job by now doing what I have interest in. It should be noted that there are too many grad students especially at the PhD and post doc level. This system is set to churn out grads at a unsustainable rate and someday it'll come crashing down and academia will have to take a hard look at itself.

Reading through some of the comments... #5 jaggies and frame rate and #6 slowness of movement/responsiveness is kind of related. If the frame rate is unstable then your actions will seem sluggish regardless of the animation used. Kind of nice to see that they are prioritizing frame rate than resolution but at the same time it is 1080p@30. They're not or are having trouble maintaining what I consider a bare minimum (It should be 60 fps since it is real time but I'm cutting them some slack due to hardware). At least they are trying. I can appreciate that. Hope they can hit a stable 1080p@30fps.

You know what? I'll go watch some Jojo. What order should I watch it in?

The situation in North Dakota (Dean's post) is depressing. Pair it up with the Oregon stuff and yeah.

First with Space Patrol Luluco and now Nobunaga no Shinobi, I'm really digging short series. They run for a set time under ten minutes in length. Luluco run for 7:54 while Nobunaga run for 3:34. They're perfect for short stories or some very 4-koma like skits. Also being short means some strategic corner cutting can allow for some better animated or drawn sections. Case in point is Nobunaga in Nobunaga no Shinobi usually doesn't have an animated mouth but the time and money saved from that can allow for some sweet 1's action sequences. The only downside is that their OP and/or ED can take up a fair chunk of run time though. In the case of Luluco's ED, it is really good so it doesn't matter.

My Scythia game is crashing at a fixed point. For this one city after a build project, the trader menu crashes the game. Now I'll never be able to determine if I can out build and out science the Kongo to a science victory. I'm at the point where I'm building up an army and nukes to take them out as insurance. I also need troops back home and elsewhere to defend against retaliation by England and Norway. They hate the Kongo but they hate a warmonger more. Overall, I consider this Emperor game a success. Now onto the next diffuclty to see how much of cheating bastards the AIs can be. I actually don't have much of a desire to play Deity since to expand almost surely means taking cities from the AI since they all start with like 3 settlers.

And the Bundy's attorney got tased and tackled due to a heated argument with the judge over not letting Bundy walk out of the court room since he (Ammon) and his brother Ryan still had charges over the stuff they done in Nevada.
