  1. Later on for use monster decks you'll get two neutral cards with same effect: "if close combat is over 10 in power, destroy the highest value card". Great combo is to use the frost, which drops everything to 1/2 and if they've enough cards (which monster decks will) they'll have over 10 power (especially if they've a hero card which won't drop to 10) and boom you wipe out their entire row. It's like defecating to the sunrise: Downright glorious. But yeah, get decoys, lets you re-use the medic cards if they don't have spies, or lets you re-use their spies to build up your hand. This is a bit pointless for monster decks (since you don't want to be drawing more than one of each type into your hand) As for building out other decks, make sure to check every innkeep for cards, and I think a couple of general merchants too. If you do the Gwent quests you should get some good cards from it (with the final leader cards coming from the tournament at the end as I recently found out). Oh other advice: to protect against Scorch play a relatively high powered card, or only play cards lower than their hand (since Scorch is a two way street). Some of the monster swarms are built to do this automatically (aracheneas puts out a bunch of 4 in front row, then a 6 in the back, and the vampires have a shit ton of 4's then a single 5. But that's easy wiped out with the above technique) I love there's just as much mechanics to discuss in the mini-game as there is in the main game I've got a gwent module for Tabletop Sim if anyone would like to hit me up to try it out? (I've not loaded the game up at all so far mind).
  2. Someone took even more "now and then" for Kaer Morhen. It's pretty cool CDPR have managed to keep much of it the same, at least in layout and structure, while vastly improving the look and fidelity of it all. Also I think I've managed to get near everyone with Gwent so far. Hilariously broken game, but pretty high up there as far as in-game mini-games go.
  3. I picked up Valkyria Chronicles. I own it on PC, and same as others never got past the tank, but I game much more on my PC so more likely to be in a position to beat it here.
  4. Someone managed to get an nice "then and now": http://imgur.com/a/5PouS God was Kaer Morhen some nostalgia. "I remember fighting a Frightener there".
  5. So robin versus a american robin. You guys must have less cute xmas cards than we do. Erithacus rubecula (aka Robin, robin redbreast, european robin) Turdus migratorius (aka American Robin) Turd-us migratorius. No one cared for this bird. (they at least gave a shit about it though ) edit: I wonder if it colours folks views on dick grayson and his ilk, cos I always thought it odd to have such a cutesy named companion as "robin".

    Steam

On the opt-out thing isn't Valve bringing this in to be more inline with EU laws, in which case "opt out of certain laws" isn't quite a thing they can do (also end of the day Valve are the retailer, it's not up to the products on display if they can opt out of obligations the retailer is set to. It'd be like Apple opting out of statutory warranties or something silly like that ). I agree with the whole "little sympathy with the developer of a 2hr game. If it's good folks are unlikely to try and abuse the refunds, and Valve will be able to pick up on folks abusing stuff like that). In other "breaking the law" news, given Steam is extremely data rich, folks have been able to pick up on a bunch of games going up in price just ahead of the sale. Which apart from being illegal in the UK, is also dodgy in plenty other nations too. It was done by a few devs last year too, which you'd have thought would have been a red-flag to Valve to maybe sort that wee loophole. http://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/39gi24/xpost_rsteam_some_companies_are_raising_prices_on/ & http://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comments/39ckjx/some_companies_are_raising_prices_on_their_steam/ (english vs english, but american consumer law is poop) edit: reading deeper into the thread it seems the FTC has similar requirements on sale pricing that the UK has. i.e the whole "don't raise immediately before a sale then drop and displaying the raised price, you have to display the previous price as what it was for a "substantial period" usually several weeks).
  7. Are you meaning vanilla as like vanilla pods, or vanilla as in "plain"?
  8. One of my work colleauges is quite heavy into vaping. Even more so now he works from home and can vape all day without complaint. And since he's also a web developer he's put together this: http://dot1ml.com/ Mixes up his own stuff, was always fun when he was in. A bit like the scene from Willy Wonka when he started up with his vaping.

Unlike two of the above I'm not a lawyer, but as I'm to understand it (points to Autodesk) EULAs mean jack shit in terms of "you don't actually own this". (at least in the EU, which is where a big thing of the whole "You must be able to refund on digital goods" stuff has come from where the american Valve have dragged their heals on complying with). As for refunds n such, I use a bunch of SaSS at work, and if they're down or glitchy we get a refund for that month. So there's precedent there for stuff that actually is a service and not a product.
  10. ReBoot is getting a reboot http://www.theverge.com/2015/6/9/8752443/reboot-computer-animated-live-action-new-episodes
  11. Yeah Mirror's Edge was gonna be a pretty much guaranteed thing given Thursday carries on RTing stuff about it the last few days. On the rest: Morpheus from Sony (VR is getting to be a big thing for tech firms so being a trade show this'll be a thing) PS4 slim as a maybe PS4 1tb as a strong thing Fallout to be a thing, new COD/AC as usual, and I don't care for others. Oh PC show the host will show up with half their face missing (it's AMD sponsored after all). In seriousness it'll be terribad, certainly not as slick as the others.
  12. Not quite "film theory" but a good look at how reality TV is made. Having been on similar in the past it's pretty much spot on. "walk to the shop cos it's healthy" ...we then all drive cos the closest supermarket is a 20 minute drive away. "reality TV" my arse.
  13. p.s I'm still in Season 3, but TV is in the lounge.

    Help!

It's doing it to me too, so yeah. Not sure. Defo a thing from updating on the weekend. Not sure what. Part of me is "eh, can maybe wait it out a few weeks and new version should be out. It's currently 4.0.7 atm, and they're releasing stable official build at 4.1)
  15. Colleague introduced me to Justice. Mainly stuck in my mind cos boss complained about their addition to work playlist. (another colleague has managed to mess up and add most of the Hall n Oates discography which has become a bit of a running joke).
  16. So my soon to be housemate has a music video out, maybe watch?

      TheRevanchist

I checked out that band. Was your housebro always in the band, or was he not in their previous videos?

AFAIK has always been in the band, though I think he's a tad camera shy.

  17. Heh, our treasurer is a history student and even he knew to stick VAT down to stimulate spending (and then not long after put it up higher than it was before :/ admittedly the maths is a bit easier now it's 20%)

  19. I've gotten a working replacement. It feels much the same as most though bigger (mainly cos I can extend the palm rest).
  20. Yeah I've never understood the whole "allow the rich people to get richer and they'll pay the poorer folks more". I'm not paid by my boss, I'm paid by the company I work for. Any extra my boss makes/keeps goes towards better cars n holidays.
