  1. http://www.ftlgame.com/ It's dirt cheap. Get the DRM-free version and a Steam key.
  2. Yeah, I was saying to Ethan yesterday that this won't be related to anything post-Xbone launch. EA has been CEO-less since March, so I can't see him ending up fired and at Zynga since E3 (two weeks ago) or even the reveal (6 weeks ago). It'll have been in the works a while, which makes you wonder why the hell MS let him stand up on stage and try and sell their brand new multi-billion dollar product, and the PR stuff after, if his heart and future was in playing farmer over at Zynga. It won't look good for MS though, already had Sinofsky offed after Windows 8 launch, having Matrick go alongside the Xbox One reveal cokcing up too isn't going to ease investors. Especially when they don't have a direct replacement.
  3. @Goh: Well sure, but we've long gone past the relevancy of the original news. Currently it jsut seems to be dickwaving between three lawyers on US and UK laws to a non-lawyer outsider. Especially on hypotheticals of non-profits and such, because there's no charitable video game publishers. @TME: Eh, about only time I see say a church selling videos is at a carboot, in which case it's a direct sell. And then distribution of media would come from the funds there. Charging for materials I'd guess is gonna be a really weird grey zone you'd be stepping in. TN would probably know more on that, but I'd still say likely not. Just because you're not making a profit wouldn't really exempt you. As for the edit/second part. As mentioned IANAL, so I've not a clue what you're trying to say/tell me I'd do.
  4. I'd guess a no on it being okay. Whether you're making a profit or not wouldn't have much bearing anyway given Hollywood Accounting. And either way it's still being sold. A church couldn't sell what it wanted and put their hands up and go "but we're non-profit", still have to follow the law. As far as what Thursday said I'd guess it would go that far. Self-promotion is advertising, and I don't think you can distribute the things that aren't allowed under VRA (extreme violence, peadophillia, porn, drug promotion etc) in an "advertising" capacity. btw would anyone mind if I shifted this across to own thread/somewhere else. Not really about "Games and the Law" for a while now.
  5. "Try to keep up, it's embarrassing" - Leliana
  6. http://ff6.ocremix.org/ A FFVI OCRemix. I don't know FFVI music (and also yet to download this) so can't say on quality, but hey it's there if you want it.
  7. I'm gonna go with no because it would be nigh impossible to do so unless the whole game was rendered in the cloud like OnLive/Gaikai-style cloud gaming. The CloudTM will only be as useful inline with the Drivatar stuff, or things like rendering of procedural levels (like Minecraft). It's just simply not fast enough to have you shoot a rocket at something, and the signal to go to MS mothership, and process the explosion and where all the bits of building collapse to, and then firing that back at your console before the rocket hits. No idea what the hell they're trying to pull with the whole "power of 10 xboxes in the cloud" thing.
  8. http://www.edge-online.com/features/the-making-of-hotline-miami/ A making of on Edge. Good read regardless of if played the game or not (I haven't, but I've an interest)
  9. That's only Which gonna throw this out again: They're indies. They don't want a publisher, and given the horror stories of MS' predatory tactics they mostly certainly don't want MSGS as a publisher. Also lol at "cloud stuff". 'We're partnering with MS for making development tools, and even we don't know what the fuck thier cloud idea is".
  10. http://neocities.org/ - This could be of interest to some of you. Something to play with over summer?

I'm making a geology site. Thanks.

  11. The self-publishing will matter more to Indies than the update fees. As for charges, as far as I'm aware Sony didn't charge for updates, they charged for bandwidth. Which means a nice small update would be nice and cheap.
  12. http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2013-06-28-xbox-one-exec-hardware-specs-are-meaningless So I'm thinking the Xbox One is more than likely a fair bit underpowered over the PS4 if the attitigue is "I'd rather not even have the conversation". If Ms was substantially better, even in one area, they'd be crowing about it.
  13. Not really. Especially considering come the original InFamous games swapping between 720p gameplay vid and into 1080p would be like putting make-up on a pig.
  14. So seems to be very similar to Coles powers just fire based. The destructible environments are nice though. Looks pretty as hell.
  15. Always a possibility. I've said as such on Twitter that it's definitely an ARG going on, more and more solid on that each passing day. Whether or not it's a half-life 3 ARG is up in the air, but still somewhat likely given the game that got updated (before the Portal 2 announce it was in Portal 1 that the ARG stuff kicked off)
  16. Nah I was talking of Wi-Fi direct not s-beam. I've only ever seen it in Samsung phones so far so assumed it was a Samsung feature. Was unsure if MS "wi-fi direct" had been the same given it didn't seem to serve the same purpose at all. What are the two ports for on the headset then if standard 2.5mm can plug in fine?
  17. And they're trying to claim it's not ARG stuff. https://twitter.com/SurgeonSim2013/status/350551682813411328 Which is kind of hard to believe, at this stage. you don't randomly add in korean bits to your game update a couple days after Valve do some Korean stuff too.
  18. Yeah I never got folks making jibes about sony being "proprietary" when you could use a standard HDD, USB keyboard, regular bluetooth headsets, and MS have thier own plugs for headsets (now incompatible once more), two different incompatible HDD cases. Didn't it take a while until you could use USB flash drives too? As for Wi-Fi, yeah it uses Wi-Fi a/b/g/n as well as "Wifi Direct" for the controller* but I'm not sure if that's the same thing as what Samsung phones have. *incidentally means no bluetooth support still.
  19. So TCP is pretty old (and stinks too, but is good for wounds), but without any age I can only assume Luftwaffles is far older.

    2. WTF

      WTF

Honestly with the way healthcare is and how people stay younger for longer these days you're not old till you're 60. That said those who practice astrology consider 30-33 as the end of the first phase of your life. Now I don't give a shit about astrology. However, that means society does consider that 33 is the end of the first phase of your life.

    3. WTF

      WTF

The 30s are awesome, it's the new 20s because you don't have all the silly insecurities you had. You can honestly not give a shit.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, interbros.

  20. Eh, can always hit up Savygamer. More UK focused, but quite a lot of international crossover given it's mainly digital sales (and frequently does Amazon US stuff)
  21. Oh yeah a couple weeks back chatting with a distant mate on FB and topic is on Kotaku and I mentioned about use to comment there a bit until I was banned during the "kotakuoplspe" thing. He mentioned reading about it on reddit at the time, some high profile commenter being banned and it going to shit. I was like "yeah, that was me they banned". He had a bit of a "oh shit, small world" moment.
  22. Yeah I'd heard bits n bobs here n there on twitter to folks referencing them having another crack and enforcing commenting policy again. Remember when they tried that last time?
  23. Looks kind of like a real time third person version of UE I guess.
  24. @Tenshi: Yeah there is an element of it too that I guess. No doubt had it being banned due to portraying gay relationships as Ethan gave as possible example it'd be a much more serious issue, but then the rating isn't big issue there but the ban on gay relationships. Whereas so far no one seems to have had an issue with sex abuse, peadophillia, torture, bestiality, necrophilia, etc being illegal. I do respect your lots opinions on how you think it should be done, just don't agree with them obviously. Different values through growing up in different countries with different laws and culture.
  25. We use "the" for numerical names. So like "take the A1 south", but street names would be on their own "Then turn left onto marigold drive". Though I guess there's a few named roads with "the" on the end but tends to be unofficial names, like "the roman road" and "the tank road".
