  1. WHY IS NO ONE VOTING FOR FFIX!!! Also I'd be tempted for a "super donator" level but you voted for VII so no super-donator for you. (Though I really should fish about to see what extra features and tweaks I could do. Like do something to the site for a month in your honour or something.)
  2. Drugs are illegal, sex abuse is illegal, peadophillia is illegal. Just because you're an adult doesn't mean you can do what you want.
  3. Assuming it's anything like BBFC the existence of an 18 rating doesn't immediately mean certain topics can be just thrown in willy nilly with no issues. Their change in law only added in the 18 rating above the original cap of 15, not make it completely open at the top end.
  4. Ah shit you're correct, I thought he looked familiar
  5. Supermans rogues gallery kinda sucks. Zod is interesting as he's a fellow kryptonian, and in this film he's done pretty well and you can somewhat sympathise with him and his reasonings for doing what he's doing. Luthor is interesting because he has no super-powers, but due to wealth, connections and intelligence he has "power" in the same sense banks do, and you can't just throw kiloton punches at a bank. So usually requires other ways. And in an origin story an enemy that you can't use super strength, flight and laser vision against would be a bit dull. Could have had Doomsday. But killing Superman in his origin movie would have been a bold move.

Yeah, similar reasoning for my not wanting of a female Doctor. Becomes a quick reference for a gag, and I'm not sure where this show intends to go with it, could go either way. I can't see them being overtly pro-cross dressing/trans, that'd be a hard sell for kids, but I would hope it won't do it as a "hah, he has to be dressed as a girl and do girl things" joke. It would undermine it, as well as make the show pretty shit as it's not much of a gag you could spread across the show.
  7. I'm of two minds. On one hand I think for a first movie it was kind of OTT as a bad guy. But on the other hand, last Superman film he was up against a bald man with a shiv. Only human adversary worth a damn to Superman is Batman, and they're sure as hell not bringing those two out on Superman's first JLA outing. Otherwise you've got folks like Darksied, who is once again kind of OTT, or Bizzarro who wouldn't carry a film on his own and wouldn't be a good origin baddy. As I've said before, what they really need to do is look into the What-Ifs/Elseworlds. But those are standalone and hard to turn into big team up films or spin-off into trilogies+.
  8. I swear there was something about being dead in that. My apologies there, but everything else oracle prophesied is pretty spot on to the point of him having to die to become The One. And spoilers cos from impression I've gotten from some people, they didn't know about that part of the film.

Seen bits of Shezow out and about. Can't see it "making kids transgender", though it could potentially open kids to the possibility of being transgender. Which is a good thing in my books. I'd grown up as a teen being like "yeah girls are pretty cool", but occasionally being "so is the lad at front of class". But I knew I wasn't gay, how could you be gay if you were straight? Not a fun spot to be in growing up. Then few years back along comes a term new to me "bisexuality" and I'm suddenly like "well there we go, that's what I am". And it's certainly helped me since (well, at least find inner peace on the matter, still single as hell ). And I'd say if there's kids that are growing up and not feeling quite right with themselves, then being exposed to the concept of transgender would give them some kind of reference point to understand themselves. I've a feeling as a cartoon it'll likely suck, but I'm a crotchety old man who likes Dexters Lab and Powerpuff Girls. As far as the reuters article goes, parents seem a bit unreasonable, but if school has suddenly changed policy on how they treat the girl then it's certainly an issue. I've a feeling another parent was likely involved somewhere along the line.
  10. Man of Steel Superman pretty much sucks as a superhero, so going in you can't expect too much from him. I think Snyder made him somewhat likeable and more "human" than his general holier-than-thou sort of attitude in many other incarnations. So quite an achievement there. Pretty much any major issue/"plot holes" with the film are generally faults of the source material such as why Jor-El n Lara-El aren't with him, or how "red sun" = "laser vision and flight". Overall an enjoyable film, few niggles but overall it is a pretty decent Superman film. The Animatrix Hadn't watched it in a while, we randomly put it on yesterday. I think the idea being it was just bunch of shorts so no time dedication. We ended up watching the lot. Love em all, some weirdness here n there, different visuals styles, neat stories to be told and some good extended universe stuff for the films. I strongly recommended hunting it down, it's usually going cheap. The Matrix Kind of an inevitability I guess . Basically Perry White** teaches Constantine that the world isn't real (dude has seen hell, he kinda knows), and thus they go and fight Elrond (who wants out). But what'll really bake your noodle later is if Neo would have knocked the vase if the Oracle had said nothing. **Laurence Fishburne has certainly bulked out since his morpheus days, but he carries it well.

    Taxes

I certainly do not abuse my pigeons!! I take great care of them, and make sure that they're looked after when I go on holiday abroad and always make sure they're not shitting on my Sky dish. I do feel kinda poop in not being able to contribute much and that folks such as Thursday are paying my way. But given my annual tax bill comes to £156($240), and that's for the Ctax, with income tax not worth me being charged for, kinda tells you how slim funds are without work.

Seems pretty smooth to me to be honest, considering people had been complaining of lag. Wonder if that's considered laggy what folks must think of current console menus. Shame on the HDCP stuff I guess. Be cool to play GTAIII on your tele instead of phone though.

    Taxes

I pay £3 a week in council tax. JSA is technically taxable, which is weird because you don't get enough in JSA to be taxed on it. Weird you'd have to do your own taxes even if you're not self-employed. I kinda figured it was thrown into films/TV as a dramatic way to reference taxes. I guess with PAYE it's a bit harder to make much of a direct physical reference of it.
  15. Is everyone just avoiding FFIX on purpose?

He made statements that in context were kinda bad. However when this was pointed out his reaction wasn't "oh my bad, I'll know for next time" it was just to further ram home his beliefs on women having vaginas. Also most responses to his were reasonable, though increasingly less so as his offensive (he didn't go on the defensive), ramped up too. The email from Sophie was a long-form version of most of the responses he received, well reasoned responses that what he's saying is troublesome and also an expectation he might know better. Though it's obviously easier to justify his actions when he highlight the few "cis male garbage" ones that pop through.
  17. http://www.getloadedgo.com/ - not a bad deal, 2 Bethesda published games for £10. Mainly worth getting Dishonored and New Vegas for best value.

Cis is to trans what straight is to gay. It's but one word, not a labyrinth, and I'm sure many folks have no trouble comprehending straight and gay or trouble using the terms. His conclusion of: is pretty much a guarantee it'll happen again. He's only needs to give a minor bit of a fuck, not storm to whitehouse demanding minority rights left right n centre. Just to.. well as Misterjack says "grow up and think about the world outside your own purview" The "cis males make me sick" response to his tweets was out of order, though without his original posts it would never have come. I don't think he's a bigot, but as a dude that's half of the face of one of the largest organisations in gaming he's so socially unaware it's not funny. edit: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=gay

    DOTA 2

  21. Lego Lord of the Rings with housemates. My god it's a good job we all like LotR, cos the game itself is a pain in the butt. I think the general consensus we have so far is Batman (which we've played independently of each other) is much better Lego game and style with the platforming and such instead of the vague platformey/puzzley/RPGy thing Lego LotR is aiming for. It's nice it's the real voice clips from the film, but we also feel sometimes they're not quite panned out in the best way.

Eh, the Fullbright thing seems a trends and triggers thing. If it was just over Mikes actions yesterday then be way over reaction. But given things that've cropped up over the years. The problem with the PA guys isn't so much they're doing and saying what they are, it's that not only are they seemingly unwilling to take folks points on board and review their stance on things, it's that they, specifically Mike, come off as being proud of the stance and refusing to step in others shoes. Even when a past colleague steps in. Which is why the Dickwolves thing became such a big sticking point. It wasn't so much the initial joke, it was the PA guys really terribly handled reaction afterwards. The whole event would have been quickly forgotten otherwise.

Labels are useful for discourse. Much easier to discuss lgbt issues when you have terms such as gay, straight, trans, cis and so on. Pretty much why any labels exist.

Given he'd been in recent bother with his "women have vaginas/people with vaginas are women" stuff, it'll have been used in gender identity conversations.
  25. I've yet to watch it, will give it a crack later on, but if this is a talk about homosexual relations from the guy who wrote Zevran, then it'll have to be mighty damn interesting.
