  1. ...did I say or imply they weren't? I even said "too much" which would mean that whatever it is "too much" more than has some weight. The implication of a few page thick manual adding to the weight of the shipping that a USB stick wouldn't. Also they're getting rid of mini-USB? That kinda sucks. It's a bit tougher than micro-USB, but I guess it does mean can use phone chargers.
  2. USB sticks are not without weight...
  3. It's likely more a EULA/TOS or whatever legal guff is required than manual (which they don't need on a USB, PS3 comes with it built into the XMB).
  4. I'm probably generalising a massive massive amount here, but do you think the kids with the parents that don't buy them everything they want are the ones that are screaming about all the nigger faggots whose mum they shagged last night, as opposed to the kids whose parents buy their little angel whatever will make their puddingtop happy? edit:

    Windows 8

http://blogs.windows.com/windows/b/bloggingwindows/archive/2013/06/26/the-windows-8-1-preview-is-here.aspx The preview is here, in case you're wanting to give it a spin and find out if Windows 8 is for you. (As with the previous preview I'd suggest using it on a VM or spare PC mind, dual booting can be a bit fiddly and you'll certainly not want to replace your current Windows install) Rundown of changes: http://www.theverge.com/2013/6/26/4465888/windows-8-1-preview-video
  6. I don't know many 12 year olds that buy their own stuff as opposed to getting their parents to pay for it (pretty sure 12 year olds can't pay for XBL anyway)

  7. So the bottom of a plant is the only thing you call a "root"?
  8. So I know americans say "route"("this is the route you take to the shop") as "rowt" instead of "root" like we do. But how do you pronounce router as in the box that routes internet around a network? We call it a root-er, but if you guys continue the "rowt" it'd become rowter, which is how we'd pronounce the name of the woodworking tool, router.
  9. Yeah I understand how free speech works in the US, hence us mentioning that hate speech laws exist outside of US as a sort of reminder. And democracy exists because you can vote in people that might change what's illegal or not. A limit to free speech is not a limit to the capability of democracy, it's democracy in action. (especially considering the only reason this is news is because these are the first two games to not come under the newly implemented R18 classification.) What isn't democracy is when like your example where media companies decide themselves what can or can't be allowed. I'd be much more in line with your kind of thinking if these were prohibited due to portraying gay couples or something. But it's stuff that falls under illicit drug use and sex abuse laws. Gay couples are actually protected under hate speech laws, unlike modern america. So it's kind of the exact opposite. Between being able to shoot up in a video game and wander down the street with a "die fags" sign, and using Med-X in a game and not being told to die or having to have biker gangs protect my funeral I know which I'd pick.
  10. Yeah gotta say filibustering seems a really weird thing to allow.
  11. Well ultimately it comes down to culture. Obviously as an American your view of what constitutes a "free society" will largely differ from the ideals of a "free society" built on a prison colony. edit: Yeah what Thursday is saying too. The Hate Speech laws are probably the more common difference between american free speech and british/colonial free speech. I'm kind of a fan of hate speech laws.
  12. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/19/business/ama-recognizes-obesity-as-a-disease.html American Medical Association has officially declared obesity as a disease. Which many words are written about on potential repercussions, it seems to be quite mixed on it being good or bad. Also something about a Senator Davis filibustering for 13hrs yesterday over SB5? All I know is the tweets I read this morning tbh. An Abortion bill as best I can get.
  13. Sate of Decay also snagged for their depiction of drugs too. http://forums.undeadlabs.com/showthread.php?26404-Update-on-Australian-release The anal probe thing I can see their reasoning, but it is somewhat unfortunate on their choice there. The drug stuff is pretty spot on and hard to argue with really. When you've laws against certain drugs it's a bit of a bummer to have media present them in a positive light. Certainly so in nations where health service is publicly funded.
  14. https://twitter.com/Steam_Support/status/349678346688405505 So I'm gonna guess there's an ARG going on. HL2 got updated and is now in Korean, and the korean and end of the Steam Support tweet is "Prepare for unforeseen consequences"
  15. Apps aren't done by Tablet/Phone as such, but they can be restricted on what devices can play it. I'm on a Note and it says compatible, but I've quite a large screen. I could re-link my Wildfire but that's on GB so if it was listed as incompatible I wouldn't know if it's due to screen size or android version.
  16. See I find myself using FB Messenger a lot more lately, and gotta say I severely dislike the timestamps and "is typing" stuff. Creates pressure to respond as you know it's flagged on their end that you've seen the reply and are just putting it to the side or whatever.
  17. http://www.pearlmanphotography.com/#a=0&at=0&mi=2&pt=1&pi=10000&s=0&p=0 Bunch of cross sections of bullets and what not. Kinda wish it'd give info on what kind of bullets they are.
  18. I'm sometimes guilty of this. Well the haha bit at list, it's only if I'm one the receiving end though. Sometimes I'm just not in a position to fully throw myself into the chat.
  19. Read the above posts, it should give you a good idea of what you're meant to choose.
  20. Obviously without knowing the specificities of the game can't make too much judgements, but given the "drugs in a positive manner" thing is pretty much on par with the rating refusal of Fallout 3 (incidentally you can thank Oz gov't for having the proper in-game drugs like Med-X) we can guess there's something about IRL drugs being used with positive in-game/story effects, which is generally frowned upon. It'll be an easy enough tweak tbh, just a name change and given the kind of game it'd probably suit it to have something silly. Dunno on the sex stuff, I'd guess handled quite badly storywise I guess to not get away from the "obscene" element by being "artistic". As for stealing cars, shooting people, trespassing, tend to have repercussions such as cops/army showing up and such, it's rarely if ever presented as a positive act. (p.s as far as jaywalking goes that's one of the things I had to look up a while ago, didn't realise in America crossing the road could be considered illegal . Which I guess also just goes to show what might be considered okay in one country isn't in another)
