  1. Having rented this, I can say it's not the type of game I enjoy. I should probably play the original at some point, though I've a feeling it's one of those games that might have gotten a bit too old.
  2. For this saturdays. Ooooohhhhh. Spoilers indeed.

    Wii U

Surely the many journalists, both in enthusiast and mainstream press, are worth listening to? (Though I find it hard to believe that any company, especially that of the size, scope and customer base of Nintendo, to be wholly dismissive of online commentary too)

    Wii U

Yeah the "Wii U is a confusing name" isn't the same as the "Wii sounds like urine" complaints of '05.

Nintendo won't be doing their usual full scale E3 presentation this year, seem to be happy with their Nintendo Directs as an alternative. People are noting this might be a continuation of financial woes befalling them this year, it's certainly cheaper to stick Iwata in front of a camera than it is to set up a big ass stage n bring in a hundred lasses with 3DS' strapped to them and such. The problem with skimping on E3 is all eyes are on E3 for gaming, and if they've not got a strong presence the eyes will drift elsewhere. The only people that watch Nintendo Direct are people that are already Nintendo fans. But with E3 the Sony/Nintendo/Xbox/PC fanboys have eyes on the Sony/MS/Nintendo/EA/Ubisoft briefings, and now those eyes will have one less thing to care about. http://uk.gamespot.com/news/nintendo-some-believe-wii-u-is-just-wii-with-a-pad-for-games-6407527 Also they're still struggling with the whole "U" thing and marketing it as a new console and not a tablet for the Wii.
  6. http://www.doctorwho.tv/whats-new/article/exclusive-limited-edition-doctor-who-regeneration-dvd-set-contents-confirmed?cid=regen_dvd_social_fb_na_regen So they're doing a collectors edition thingy of DVD and artbook on the Doctors regenerations. Seems a weird topic, but there will certainly be avid collectors out there.
  7. "Misogynists are always sexist, but sexists are not always misogynists." Sexism also implies misandry too, it's sexism, it covers all 2+ sexual identities. Not just the one, and it only leads to weaken the terms if two related words, but not the same, are used as interchangeable.

Stupid Japanese company not having a clue on how to come up with realistic targets!! I think fucking up marketing accounts for most of the issue. Also the Wii capturing an audience of people where "meh, current one is good enough". They're the people who buy a vacuum cleaner, watch the new Dyson Ball adverts and maybe if the current vacuum breaks they'll upgrade. And even then they might just end up buying the old model again. Ps4 should (price dependant) fare a bit better since it targets a different type of market, and on top of that is clearly the new model because it's for "4" on the end not "U".
  9. So taking the clarified knowledge on board: Here the state representatives as part of the US gov't, is crossing a few of their Ts. It's wise to, the states they represent make extra money from it, especially as internet business is booming and it's not like companies like Amazon are going to pull out of America. They can knock their prices up at the checkout, point to the new law, and likely still out beat local physical business. Yes?
  10. You mean the people that hate women and the people that oggle at tits might be two different people?
  11. Don't they call it "Bases and acids"? It's something that threw me a few times in watching american TV. I think like early Simpsons in the smart school and the teachers "don't you know what happens when you mix a base and an acid?!". Kinda figured it was some other chemical group I'd not heard of.
  12. Aren't the states "government"? (Maybe showing a non-firm grasp of US political structure but I was under the impression senate was like our house of commons with each senator representing a state, as opposed to President that represents a party). Also adding tax on at the end does knock the prices up. I can't see Amazon choosing to swallow the tax. Guy goes into a chemist to buy some condoms. "that'll be £1 for the condom and 20 pence for the tax" the chemist says. "Tacks?!? I thought you rolled them on".
  13. Nope. There's potentially something in the SQL table but hardly ideal to go through a table that has tens of thousands of entries. And even if that had been the case just mods knowing when people edited a post would do little on a public forum. Basically the options on editing permissions are: Can edit Y/N, Time Restriction, Show "Edited by" Y/N, Edit Topic Titles Y/N. Unfortunately no grace period such as the "ninja edit" window Reddit has, I do agree that'd be useful, though nothing wrong with proofreading. On here it used to be zero editing, we opened it up but with a time window of a 10 minutes or so.Then after incidents we enabled the "Edited by" (rather than straight up remove it). After certain folks left we removed the time restrictions, but left the marker. Certainly been no repeats, but there's no reason to given the "Edited by" shows up. In the grand scheme of things I'd rather the minor irritant of a bit of grey text on the bottom of edited posts than dealing with the major irritant that come with people covertly editing what they're typing and stirring shit. The full functionality of editing is still there. Incidentally right below the "Editing" set of settings is "Deleting", and most of them are "No" for obvious reasons, but I'm pretty sure "Hide" aka "Soft-delete" is meant to be enabled, can any of you remove your own posts? It should be a button that's faded next to "Quote" options, along with Report.
  14. Dammit, I'd been writing a response then got chatting with housemate for ages. But to trim out the bit Ethan answered (though with less of my mocking "lol USA doesn't have a United sales tax :P" tone) and leave the extra bit that answers another angle of Gerbils question: Generally all good companies, especially those with Irish and Dutch subsidies and especially American multinational companies such as Gogole and Starbucks, know that a tax isn't something you pay out the goodness of your heart, it's paid only when absolutely every t is crossed an i dotted in a airtight law because otherwise you're incurring an avoidable expenditure for your shareholders. Here the US gov't is crossing a few of their Ts. It's wise to, they make extra money from it, especially as internet business is booming and it's not like companies like Amazon are going to pull out of America. They can knock their prices up, point to the new law, and likely still out beat local physical business.
  15. Yeah there was folks abusing the ability to edit to change what was said, so made it so there's the "edited by" on the bottom. Also in the early days there was no editing function at all. The "Edited by" was a minor tweak made, with the alternative being removing editing altogether. It's not exactly a hardship to keep around for the niceness it instills.

  17. So it's St Georges Day and 20 pints later and I'm still not drunk. WTF Yorkshire Tea.

  18. Oh, well sucks on the resolution. I kinda figured with the kind of stuff we've gotten these days that might be the big "this is why the Oculus is a big step in VR from older kits". So I'm back to square one on trying to understand why it's suddenly a big deal. Not sure if Kuchera fully grasps astigmatism, since his response seems like a "yeah he can wear glasses inside the rift" rather than a "yeah his rugby ball shaped eye ball doesn't mean the effect is lost". As far as expensive accessories go, I figure it'll be along the lines of the amBX.
  19. Hah, was having a discussion about it with my two housemates. Archeology student,s thus quite well versed with history. Talking about how in many cases it's kinda silly because there's many times it's a legitimate comparison as Hitler did so much it's inevitable someone will do something similar.
  20. Game of Thrones and then Game of Thrones: Brotherhood?
  21. Gearbox got Homeworld.

  22. http://www.kemco-games.com/global/press_release/sale_a_apr13.html Bunch of Kemco RPGs for Android are all selling for $0.99 a pop. I'd guess that Symphony of the Origin one might be the best one to get for bang-for-buck. I've played none myself but the reviews are all pretty high.
  23. Apart from Guild Wars 2 a bit on Sunday, next to nothing. Quite the suckiness. I think it's cos of all the FC3/Dishonored DLC stuff of late reminding me of games I can't touch for a while. Really need to finish New Vegas, but I'm nearing the end and I seem to have a psychological block on ending RPGs, especially long open world ones like this. Also means it won't allow me to start another RPG (want to do Last Remnant or Dragon Age as my next big one).
