    Windows 8

Probably not me, I don't personally use Windows 8* http://blogs.windows.com/windows/b/bloggingwindows/archive/2013/05/14/windows-keeps-getting-better.aspx? Windows 8.1 announced. It's through the Windows Store though instead of Windows Update which is kind of weird (and annoying for some, since from what Iv'e heard Windows Store has issues initialising purchases/downloads/installs, so be ironic if this was meant to fix that). *We do have Windows 8 PCs at the place I volunteer at, and I hate Windows 8 even more than when I first messed with it during previews. Someone at Microsoft honestly believed this was an acceptable product to ship to desktop PCs? It's fucking trash. I shouldn't have to remember a bunch of shortcut commands to carry out basic functions of a computer. Especially as Charm 99% requires Windows+C to open on a non-touch computer. And people get trapped in Internet Explorer. There's no [X] to close tabs or programs, no task bar of programs to switch to. Did anyone at MS pull someone from the street and go "here, try and use this PC".
  2. http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2013/05/nvidias-android-powered-shield-console-ships-in-june-for-349/ $350 launch price for June. Price is about right given that it's; Nvidia Brand new Tegra 4 chip Custom unit (as in not using cheap tablet factoring processes) not expected to sell tens of millions of units anyway. It's basically a GTX600+/Nvidia Grid seller. They want it to do well enough others will join in (of which Valve had already made nods their way), and from there sell GTX cards to do the streaming, and license out Tegra chips to android manufacturers too. Tegra 3 is already the chip of choice for current Nexus 7 and launch Ouya, this is Nvidias way of joining in the Android gaming splurge of late, as well as the "make your own flagship device" thing going on atm in tech world (of which MS and Google are experience different levels of success with).
  3. Okay at least they took the piss out of the backronym. Wonder if they'll have ...dunno the name but the company that does post-superhero battle clean-up. Also there's the whole "Nick Fury is over a century old" stuff to cover. It'll be fun, and yeah it's kinda Heroes with a fair bit more cash thrown behind it.
  4. I can vaguely grasp what he's getting at, mainly the squad-based powers stuff. As opposed to say...shoot shit like most other shooters such as COD n the like.
  5. btw you guys know you're free to make new threads right? much easier if you do too, can merge whol threads but splitting a thread from existing is a pain.

That was more of a general statement. I wasn't saying that it's currently dead. Just that if we make a new thread whenever a series gets a new entry or spin-off, then we're bound to end up with more dead threads, no?

Instead of just having a general XCOM thread, now there's a game-specific one for the spin-off, so the old one sees a decrease of activity since The Bureau is the one we'll all be talking about for the foreseeable future.

Fine, I get the hint! I'll make a Rachel McAdams thread.

  7. Still waiting on a good explanation for (Avengers Spoiler) Also wondering what kind of show we're going to get. Much crossover with the other big Avengers heroes, or just c-list heroes/villains and lower? I was remembering the "New Adventures of Superman" show from 90s other day, and couldn't much remember their being many powered enemies. It was mostly gangster n bank thieves, maybe with odd bit of hi-tech gadgets now n then. Given what the Marvel Cinematic Universe has dished out to us so far it'd suck if there's just similar in this.

  9. You like Craig? She can't be Doctor's 12th. For one she's died and been turned into a dalek so far, which regeneration doesn't quite get around (especially into the same person). Also kinda fucks up any future episodes. Also on 50th anniversary

  11. See launching apps from an app isn't really done thing with android, so that aspect ain't gonna be copied. But no doubt, especially coming in late to the game, the Play Games Services is going to be yanking elements from all over the place. The trick is if devs will hop on board. It wouldn't surprise me if it's not in competition with other phones (certainly not Windows Phone), but with other Android devices. You can get apps from other stores fine, but if the apps come wrapped up with Play Games and Google+ intergration it'll be a bit harder for devs to slap on Kindle or Ouya without a fair bit of a retrofit, thus might be less likely to.
  12. http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/05/11/google-play-games-leaks-out-in-all-its-glory-ahead-of-google-io-hello-cloud-game-saves-apk-teardown/ Android is finally getting a proper games service. Hopefully this also means games won't appear in the regular Apps listing anymore too.
  13. Bought a walk-in plastic greenhouse, growbag and some seeds. Just need some pots but I think my mum/gran are going to supply a chunk of those. Gonna assemble it tomorrow.
  14. Pretty good last night, but not as good as Doctor's Wife. Also I missed little bits here and there due to having to watch it on the dodgy TV. http://untempered-schism-insta.tumblr.com/post/50255139345/so-did-anyone-else-get-their-pre-order-early In other news it seems that next weeks Who might be out on the web somepoint.
  15. The Time Traveller's Wife Apart from "it's genetic" the time travelling is never fully explained, but that's the only downside to the time travelling in the film. it's rules were consistent enough, and the age of Henry is made fairly obvious if he's a younger, really young, or older version. So it was enjoyable just in that. Other than that is was a fairly standard romantic film and a nice play with the idea.
  16. Well if your forgot you had Don't Starve, I assume you're going to eat Amnesia.
  17. Dishonoured on PC. Pretty neat game. Sort of hub-level like structure of Deus Ex HR. Small opeb-world areas. Nice to have. Nice little side stories. I take it my rescuers are also as bad as the guys I'm sent to deal with. Especially the guy that looks like Hugo Weaving . Carmageddon on phone. Pretty good port. Lot's of quirks of being an older game that somewhat drag it down though. (But I feel some of the issues like lack of map, spinny camera and aggressive AI aren't issues that affected all games of the era).
  18. You can get to it a number of ways, it's basically Search but fancier. On my phone (Note) it's either via the long-press of menu key, the Search app icon on home or in draw, from the recent apps (holding down home key as you mentioned), via Search Bar added via launcher (I have it off), via home button (launcher dependant) or gestures.
  19. http://exzacklyright.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/google-now-tips-and-tricks.html A bunch of Google Now commands if you're wanting them. Came across it other day.
  20. 6 minutes of gameplay. Shows a fair few neat "hacks". Though it's a bit silly there's physical controls for the scissor lift right there and he goes and hacks it with his phone anyway. The player does bring up a good point with next to no main story being mentioned so far. Which is quite nice actually I guess, though I'd hope there is one cos I have a feeling the hack stuff and "emergent gameplay" would only entertain for so many hours.
