IBM have way too much time and pennies on their hand. But stuff like this does get their name out in a time where they're mostly obscured to public eye.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=551612 Ton of FFIX artwork, including original background imagery in all it's glory. Wonder if it'd be possible to do some magic and slip it into the game code so the backgrounds will match the shinyness of modern 3D emulation.

Wait, I thought they said they're going to get rid of the Glados voice, and it was just for the initial trailer to get attention. And yeah, given it's Del Toro figured it'll have something to it, but so far it's looking pretty Transformer-like quality.

We might be reading the wrong words. Without the developer themselves uploading the game to the pirate bay it would never have ended up there, before today there was zilch interest. Once it'd dropped from the New queue there was no interest even once it was up there. And it's the developer, that uploaded the game to a pirate site, that is complaining about the pirates. The (2000) people that pirated the game are complaining about an unwinnable scenario, so there's 2000 people that've played a game that's to their understanding broken. (and crap enough to not bother seeding) Also Madbass has pretty much proven my point, despite the games merits or lack there of, people will buy it just because of this stunt. It's worth noting if you are wanting to buy a Game Dev maybe pick up the original Game Dev Story on iPhone/Android instead of the Game Dev Tycoon these guys have put out. (which there was fun comment on r/indiegaming with a "Out of interest, does this game have the ability to take another developer's concept and make your own game based on it?").

It's DRM free, wouldn't have been needed to be cracked at all. And maybe it would have ended up on tpb at some point. 200 sales would suggest it's a bit of an obscure blip on the radar to draw the interest of "the scene". Only about 10% or so of games, and those primarily being AAA titles, end up on tpb. A no name indie clone of a phone game is likely considered not worth the effort or bandwidth to upload. The dev had to get in help of his mates to seed it to make it look worth downloading.

If you're the person that uploaded the game, don't be upset when people download it. It's mostly a no name game, if he hadn't uploaded it it'll likely have just say with the 200 or so buyers and that's it (There's always going to be those folks that just see a new torrent and give it a spin). Their own forum and steam forum wouldn't have complaints about the game having unwinnable scenarios too (especially as there is also piracy in the main game which was causing confusion in the forums). Of course now they've made a post about it, it'll likely hit the various blog networks and they're probably now working on plying the "Oh well I'm going to buy it just to show those pirates what for!" crowd. Which is pretty cruddy technique, but a fool and his money. Also I doubt they've the means to chase down the pirates, and how could they? They willfully uploaded the game, they committed the original piracy themselves.

http://www.greenheartgames.com/2013/04/29/what-happens-when-pirates-play-a-game-development-simulator-and-then-go-bankrupt-because-of-piracy/ So an indie developer clones Game Dev Story. Then they tweak the game a bit to create an unwinnable scenario of piracy, then upload this to TPB. Pirates grab the broken version of the game, play it and find it is unbeatable. They then post on official forums about it not working and the dev then makes a post bemoaning that 93% of the players are using the pirated version he made and uploaded himself. Which also means 93% of players are having a bad time and passing that word of mouth on. On top of that this blog post will likely come across as a "Challenge" meaning it's just going to end up pirated harder. It's like they tried to combine the Batman anti-piracy feature with the "indies <3 tpb" stuff of Hotline Miami devs. And they've cocked it up.

You're more than likely thinking of others. Excel is currently swimming among the shores of US Netflix. I might hop on, housemates BF has been throwing a chunk of Yogscast up on PS3 YT, got the itch.

? You mean you didn't like it because it doesn't have stuff constantly popping out of the screen, or what? As in the 3D is next to not noticeable at all after the first 5 minutes. The only 3D I remember is the bit with the collapsing base. After that it was pretty much in 2D, but that could just be tired eyes from watching for so long by the time the stuff like the New York fight comes along. (also the astigmatism)
-
We watched it in 2D so can't say. If it's the same as Avengers it's noticeable for the first 5 minutes of the film then it might as well be in 2D for the rest.

IRON MAN 3 Much better than Iron Man 2. It handled the fact it's the first film post-Avengers well. It incorporates elements from a pretty neat Iron Man storyline in which is good. The first song played is a...different choice. It shares script-writer with Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, which shows here and there. There's also gags and witticism a plenty, as expected of Stark/Downey Jr (though as I've noted on Twitter there's a feeling of being a bit too many, but the gags aren't where they're not wanted. The poignant scenes are gag free). The action is good, doesn't really let up. There's elements of wanting to touch upon bits of Starks character that aren't fully addressed, just kind of put out there but not taken anywhere. It's not a detriment, but it I think it could have made it slightly deeper than a paddling pool action movie. Oh and Ben Kingsley. Man..soooo good. Also a spoiler, though not for the film (per se) that is maybe worth looking into before hand for added enjoyment before seeing it. Or if you have seen IM3 something to look into. Oh and as per usual with Marvel films, stay after the credits. edit: Oh that spoiler apparently had already been announced as part of pre-release media.

I know Darwin is up for renewal, there was a list I think I posted a few pages back. I think it included Victoria Beckham so be careful what you wish for. Also technically there's a woman on every note. My only major issue is, what I assumed to be a mock note, isn't in a lined drawing like all the others. But as it's part of the (somewhat crude and outdated) security features I imagine it will be turned into a line drawing in the future.

Minor correction but none of the hardware makers went out of business last hardware generation except Gizmondo and that was legal issues. In fact quite the reverse happened (and seems to be even more and more entering the ring). The 3DS, also suffering confusing name issues, did suffer crappy launch sales, and the Wii U looks to be on track to repeat, which isn't just "the peanut gallery" saying that but also Nintendo themselves. Having two fucked up hardware launches, minimising appearance at the trade show, and only turning a profit due to fluctuating Yen is a really weird definition for "super duper successful". Nintendo also remains the most vulnerable of the current big three still since, just like Sega, their only product/service is video games. Which is why the Wii signalled potential end times, the Gamecube was a complete failure and if the Wii bombed as well that was it. Nintendo became either a card maker, 3rd party developer or nothing. Even Nintendo don't know why the Wii became as popular as it did (otherwise they'd have gotten the Wii U doing great out the gate). The Wii provides them with more of a cash buffer than what they had post-GC but with the Wii U and 3DS being their only major income source now it can soon fritter away. "Just like always" is an anomalous slither between 2006 and 2010, beyond that Nintendo had been heading downward since their R&D split from Sony. SNES - 50 million, N64 32 million, GC -21 million, Wii - 100million. Their portables proved the only strong suit, but for an age they had none or only one competitor, which is also something that's changed past few years and the 3DS hasn't fully handled that. Also I don't think anyone has ever accused Nintendo of rehashing sequels nobody wants. Just rehashing sequels. tl;dr - If Nintendo announce a console name that sucks and causes confusion, and people point out it sucks and causes confusion, and then it becomes the reality and it sucks and causes confusion, and then Nintendo acknowledge is sucks and causes confusion, the internet dwellers are allowed to go "told you so!".
