The bulkiness is just advancement of tech, they can be less bulky too. They choose not to due to cost, and most of them are used in extreme sports where a pair of glasses aren't ideal over something in a strong rubberised casing.

There's nothing stopping it using the xy data and I think it does in many instances (like using the XMB, which is pretty 2D)

http://youtu.be/v1uyQZNg2vE I guess it means if you lead an exciting life then it'll be exciting to have. Though head mounted cameras already exist so for a large part it's kinda superseded by existing tech. I guess the only major bonus is the googling and messaging. Oh and http://www.google.com/glass/start/how-to-get-one/

Two lenses also double the processing required for very little gain in accuracy, certainly not twice as accurate, in a system like the Move.

The Wii sensor bar can be replace by two tea lights so I'd hope Sony would have something a bit more technically accomplished in mind. Just a higher resolution camera would do, and given the leap from EyeToy to PS Eye I'd assume something like that would be coming/expected. 720p resolution or something. Given the Move orb is known size using stereo lenses wouldn't really accomplish anything extra unless they want to track people like Kinect but given Sony purposefully went with a controller based solution in the Move I can't see them shifting to something like that. The Move is a real-time match moving system, it works fine with single lense. All you need to know is the focal length of the camera in use (they make one model of camera, so easy enough done), and one measurement of an object in the scene, in this case the ball on the end of the Move controller. Higher resolution camera ups the amount that needs to be processed, but given the PS4 will be more powerful that's not an issue, while giving more data for the system to work with, allowing higher accuracy in position of the Move in 3D space since it'll know how relatively large or small it is. And as Ethan mentioned all the gubbins inside give direction and acceleration and such. And for fun.

So this time tomorrow I may be employed. Was only two candidates too.

See I do that a ton with my phone (open recipe in chrome, shift to phone and follow recipe on my phone in chrome. Look up a place on PC, then get GPS directions on phone etc) so I can see how it'd be great for games too. Given Nintendo really suck in the tech/online dept it makes Sony the only ones in a position to be able to do this. They're in a unique position for so much given the scope of Sony Corp as a whole, but they fuck up so bad in putting all the pieces together. They suffer hugely with the whole "left hand not knowing what the right is doing". Sure Nintendo sucks at marketing the Wii U as a new console and not a really expensive add-on, but Sony sucks are marketing thier consoles not just to joe customer but to their studio partners too.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-durango-kinect-specs-leak Supposed leak on Kinect 2.0 specs. Does seem Kinectness could be a major component of Xbox 3 which could really suck (especially if a chunk of processor time is taken away to keep it running happy at all times regardless of Kinect tie ins with a game or not). As the article note, it's still a kinect and all the issue and pitfalls with gaming that entails.

Yeah my dad got one, the Lumia 800 iirc. He enjoys it, he has generally always been a Nokia guy. It makes calls, it does facebook, it does him fine.

https://secure.eu.playstation.com/meeting2013/ Here's at least one link for watching it. I'm not sure I'll be watching it live as it'll be on at 11pm GMT and I think we're doing more Rogue Trader tonight.

Android two years ago was a bit of a more techy choice up against the iPhone, but these days it's a bit of a no brainer , ICS really just made it all click into place, you've got all the Google services thrown in (I don't have it yet but I hear Google Now is amazing), the hardware with stuff like NFC, expandable memory, micro-USB, ton of form factors etc. I've got my Note, it's a bit niche, but there's nothing like it on iPhones line up. Want something small n cheap there's the Ace, Desire C, want something super high end you've got the S3 (the S4 to come soon), the One X, etc. Also the emulators are one of the big exclusive gaming apps in my opinion. All I will say though is find someone you know IRL with one, see if you can have a bit of a play about with it and just keep in mind it's not iOS.

Well in trying to work out if it was I found out Snow from FFXIII and Kai "shitty boss from nowhere" Leng from Mass Effect 3 are voiced by the same dude (he's also batman and robin). I'd guess sounding like one of the most prolific games VA while probably being cheaper to hire is a bit of a bonus skill to have.

I don't think you'd be swinging a DS4 in the same way though. It's a slight annoyance as touchpad is pretty useable, but the Move component only adds cost at what'll likely be minimal use within games. But at least it strongly suggests Move will still be a thing come PS4, could see a bigger push with it since there's now an established userbase of it at start of console life.

Well I've already given you a good luck with future endeavours in our little discussion some weeks ago. You had at the time said you were leaving PXOD, but yeah after you stopped posting it became obvious you meant this place too. I don't really understand yours and six's decision to do that mind. I'd disagree there was "creative differences" as I've never stopped an article going through except for Cyber Rats parody article over a year back. But I guess I'll have to wait like everyone else on what in particular this project is to see what I didn't allow for. As far as twitter goes, a link to a single chain between just two folks doesn't really do the entire conversation we had justice. There was a bit more to us than just that (as Ethan had already mentioned on the status). And here's the bit of the steam conversation Six never did give a reason and still hasn't, yet had managed to remove from his log (I only have access to the latter half so I don't know if anything else was removed but looks mostly in order). But yeah, Six comes in with that opening salvo and leaves with that parting shot. All rather fun and awesome. edit: Eleven you except something substantially more heated than someone getting a bit upset I didn't take games too seriously and had the cheek to run a games site with those opinions? Admittedly on the PM side of things while I'm normally quite chill the early (and continued) implications of sexism on my part didn't exactly put my in a fantastic mood as I think most of you would understand. I couldn't really give a toss if someone takes issue at my opinion of games being games for fun and entertainment, though surprised that after many years some people still weren't aware on my views in that arena.

You can install and use Onlive for free so you can see how well it works on your connection. As for semantics there's not to to be lost in semantics between a few months ago and a few years ago.

Yeah, which isn't late last year but years back.
-
As I said, I know it didn't spring out the door a decade ago all singing and dancing, it didn't only just pop up late last year though.
-
Well sure, but I was responding to MaliciousH post that PS2 emulator only just came out late last year. I've a PXOD post that exceeds even that.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQb_Q8WRL_g http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-21510791 Apple have been hacked, though no data breaches as far as they can tell.

Well yeah, just saying if B/C is a big thing then go for a non-generational system (that has PS2 backwards compatibility too). The games for most folks will be the big factor though, same reason I own a PS3. edit: PCSX2 has been out for over a decade.
-
The way the did it with the PS3 though was to basically jam a PS2 inside. A $600 console the size of a small desktop tower jamming in the guts of a DVD case sized console that retailed for $99 was something not too unreasonable, but doing the same with a PS3 in the PS4 would raise the price quite high, and I think they've probably ran the number to find that BC just isn't as huge a factor as some might make it to be, at least compared to keeping the cost of launch console down by $100. For anyone where B/C is a huge factor, as Thursday has kinda said there's always PC.

I have fired off a message their way asking about the choice to change it to crediting individuals instead of a studio, as and when I get a response back I'll fill you in.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-21426928 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-21490542 http://www.geolsoc.org.uk/en/Policy%20and%20Media/Press%20Releases/Were%20not%20above%20shelf%20stacking%20say%20geologists It's pretty much worth following the chain just for the Geological Society's response. I think this was posted about a fair while back when the court case first started. Basically lass told to work at Poundland for free, which also cuts into the self-organised voluntary work she had with a museum. She fought this at court (along with another guy), and court rules the scheme to be illegal. Ian Duncan Smith has since come out with the old "people think they're too good for shelf stacking" rhetoric (the lass works legitimately at a supermarket so obviously not the case), while also bashing geologists. Geological Society responds. The associated video is fun to watch too. "Half of the kids have left benefit" is not the same as "half the kids have got gainful employment" since it could be over half of the kids on it got sanctioned and removed from being able to get benefit. Terry Leahy, current head of Tesco, has a BSc in Management Sciences which I think might lead more to his being CEO of third largest retailer in the world than his early work stacking shelves.

I think Harry Potter is used to highlight the absurdity of validating something based off what a book says. HP is a good go to since it's widely read and just as many fantastical things happen in it.

I actually think it's a bit of a dick move calling out a few individuals rather than the whole studio. Casey is a nice enough guy, but he's also one of the more highly compensated members of the studio. Gets his name at the top of the game credits. Gets to go to swanky events like the Baftas. For him to be basically the guy who wins the award is a bit of cheek. I'd guess it's to keep it in-line with the film side of things http://awards.bafta.org/award/2013/film. Plenty folks have been asking for individual recognition of team members for years instead of it being put towards a studio, even though particular teams/people might not work on the games the studio named attached to the game would imply, and here it is*. I think it should do both mind. I'm curious as to how it'll play out at the awards though. *People also dislike the VGAs for being shitty n full of adverts and trailers and not a very class act. Yet here's a a black tie event with just the awards, and the lifetime achievement events n such and folks hardly bother covering it. So what folks say they want and the reality of the situation aren't always the same thing.
