  1. So word is that they're making it so log-in is via Twitter/Facebook or Google accounts. Good luck with that one (it's funny cos I remember Gizmodo having quite a few articles on why FB is so terrible for you to be using, I guess they've changed now)
  2. I guess I should expand upon the analogy. A few weeks back we decided we'd go to the Students Union instead of our normal pub haunt. Checked the menu, they did burgers, a a bit cheaper than the pub too. So we're ordering away; get asked mayo or tomato sauce, you want lettuce on, chips or curly fried, and then comes to paying and it's now pushed up to like £5. Turns out those weren't choices on the standard burger, but additions on top of the standard burger. For that much (Well a bit less) you'd get a Beer and a Burger at the pub. So yeah the "burger" was pretty much just that (and it was a SU burger too, not a pub burger ). My burgers expand to my games; I'm fine with the option of a collectors edition beer on the side too. Or charging a bit extra to give me curly fries instead. But I damn well want my chips*, sauce n salad as standard if you're charging me standard. Not some dry disc of meat in a bap. Yeah it's filling, but it's not as tasty and every bite you take you know it's missing part of the meal. *yeah cocked up there.
  3. Things that are not awesome: Working from home, lose internet connection for 3 hours.

    1. Eleven

      Eleven

Did you use that 3 hours to play games on steam?

  4. If we're wanting to use abbreviations: They both luck out. We're only calling it RME and CPC here because it's a fucking pain in the ass to type the whole thing out every time. Any time it's posted about in the news it's the full "Retake Mass Effect" e.g: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-03-23-retake-mass-effect-3-protest-claims-victory-after-bioware-vows-to-address-controversial-ending http://uk.gamespot.com/news/retake-mass-effect-childs-play-fundraiser-stopped-6367778
  5. Lost internet as I was going to respond to this: It'd be more like refusing to pay for a burger when you're asked to pay for the cheese, sauce n lettuce as extra.
  6. Was asked " Should I check off "Featured Post"?" "Check off" = "Tick" over here. e.g - ✓, ✔, ☑
  7. http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/167137/Minecrafts_future_depends_on_more_than_just_Mojang_says_EA_CCO.php So EA's Chief Creative Director says that for Minecraft to be a successful business they need to sell services and products for it. "those are the kinds of things that Notch needs help with, and that without the help of a publisher or other support, he's probably not going to get there completely by himself." My, EA's Creative Director whatever kind of publisher support could you mean? Oh n obviously Notch read the article. https://twitter.com/#!/notch/status/184216335444746240
  8. Claudia Black plays a Krogan-Asari
  9. We maybe have different google histories mind. Maybe worth noting that RME actually has more consistent result than Child's Play (which also turns up the chucky film first, at least that won't cause any confusion in what the charity is about ). Google Trends struggles for comparison(since RME is only about 2 weeks old), but it's kinda clear that the only time Child's Play in anyway boosted awareness of the campaign was when they stepped in last week and said RME wasn't to donate any more, whereupon the high-profile of PA/CPC then put both CPC and RME into the limelight. Classic Striesand Effect, only by singling out RME did PA/CPC draw attention to them. I really don't understand how a gaming charity and a gaming group don't have any common interests, or even conflicting interests at that. The conflict of interest is only with Penny Arcade, which does push the concept that RME are being singled out, so while PA/CPC have this new rule it's unlikely to be enforced upon any of the groups that for the past 10 years have been fine, unless in the future Penny Arcade have further conflicts of interests with those raising money for CPC. Also you're aware what Kickstarter is right? You can't kickstarter this

  11. Child's Play are perfectly fine to accept or refuse donations from whoever they want. As I've said I just don't see why in particular RME is to be singled out from any other organisations that raises money for CPC, nor are their new terms exactly clear beyond RME definitely not being allowed. If I was to put a CPC donation link on the side of the forum I'm sure PA/CPC would have no issue with it, despite the fact it not being allowed under the new policy. Which is where I take issue with their new ruling, there's nothing wrong with what RME was doing, it's an issue with what RME was. I'm curious as to what motives and honesty are to be doubted? Their motives have been made rather clear, and it's hardly like they'd lie about disliking the ending Also how would not having a donation drive for CPC would make them any less or more legitimate?
  12. Red Dead sure, Red Dead Redemption not so much. I've a feeling Revolver wasn't even in mind when it went up.
  13. Which ended up onto http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96kwILL35ig
  14. So who won in the Uncharted vs Mortal Kombat? As for the SSB thing I guess they at least reckon it's better than Red Dead (which was a single game btw, not really a franchise..same as Warcraft/Starcraft being two different franchises on one choice), and certainly better than Gears of War (which maybe shows a flaw in not having folks list stuff beforehand?)
  15. As far as I'm aware she knows of all the incarnations of the Doctor (at least up to 11th), which could either be learnt of through the TARDIS' in-built wiki, Yeah 12 regenerations, but the Master ended up with about...I think Simms was his 16th. There's ways around it and it's sort of implied it's less a biological thing and more of a "No drinking until you're 18" kind of thing. With the Timelords gone he's potentially able to wizz on right past it. There will no doubt be ways written into the story that extend his lifespan, they already did it for The Master and others in the past. The Xmas specials aren't exactly focused around Xmas btw, you can watch em now if you want. Also the trailer for 7th season is due today apparently. In fact: http://www.bbc.co.uk...videos/p00qfq58 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLKGePNr61k Hmm let's see: Cowboys, Daleks, Argus Filch, Arthur Weasley, oh n Amy n Rory are back.
  16. Eh. I'd take it with a huge grain of salt. (It would also only work if you took a specific choice at the end of ME3)
  17. So someone made an image for an "alternate end"
  18. Are we sure when using mum it's not actually the characters mum? Oh n "ma'am" kinda sounds like you're saying "baa" but with m's
  19. Noticed Raptr have updated their signatures. I kinda want a mix of a slim overall/recently played though.

    1. TheMightyEthan

      TheMightyEthan

I want the data from the Gameplay one but in the new visual style. There aren't any of the new-style ones that cover both your recently played and your all-time most played.

    2. TheMightyEthan

      TheMightyEthan

Actually, what I'd like is the Platform Signature but not specific to a platform.

Raptr is in constant identity crisis... Hopefully they chill soon and stop trying to be everything to everyone

  20. Sorry, I meant for RME to clarify it. i.e put in big bold letters "this is a charity not a kickstarter" or something. Though I highly doubt in their 10 years of operating this is the first time they've had confused people. Though what PA should be clarifying is why specifically under their new ruling RME is bad, but many other causes and products are fine to continue using Child's Play. They said "we did receive some negative mail", which would be about it. The main concern seems to be confused people, which as I said could have been resolved by asking RME to clarify about the charity donations. I'd imagine being irrevocably attached the to "lol rape jokes are funny, dickwolves" people is the biggest issue the charity has ever and will ever have.
  21. X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Overall it's not a bad game, I loved the visuals of his flesh just getting shot off and healing back over (though it had quirks where his top would also grow back...). It was nice to be able to rip folks apart, the "secret" areas were nice (though hardly secret), the combat was neat, nice to tear folks up in new ways, impale on spikes, blow em up, spin right through them. It did a good job of making you feel like wolverine. But then some goon added in boss-fights. And they were terrible. The only decent boss-fights were the ones with the leviathan and wendigo, where they would eventually become normal enemies (though some goon also decided to throw in 4 wendigos at once, but at least the gave a special trophy for beating them). Pretty much all the one-off boss-fights had some quirk, some QTE or button mashing that was terrible. Normally cos the boss-fights threw all the game mechanics and moves out the window in order to learn the moves for a specific boss-fight, be it riding round Blob, taunting Sentinels to punch electrified plates, etc. So yeah if you were to take out, or tweak, the boss fights it'd be a neat game. But with them it it goes from fun to infuriating to such a degree it ain't funny. I decided to look up the developer, see if they're in business still, turns out their current fate is making DLC maps for the COD games. I guess some higher-up at activision didn't like the boss fights either Oh the jumping/platforming is a bit quirky too, but it's somewhat infrequent and far eclipsed by said boss fights.
  22. If you can get IPB and Dreamhost to accept games as form of payment for hosting and updates then that'll be fine. Until then cold hard cash is the way to go.
