Angry Birds is becoming more attractive than Mario though. Mario can't boast the kind of figures Angry Birds can, even combining his 50+ games over 25+ years. And that for a lot of companies (and their investors) matters. Many people question why would they buy a $200 system and a $40 game when a $1/free game is providing them with just as much fun. T-Mobile didn't use Mario for their did they? The main advantage Nintendos systems (and thus their games) is that you'd feel okay handing a kid a 3DS over an iPhone (he says as someone who regularly has kids playing Lego 4+ on his phone) I'd argue the main advantage of Nintendo consoles is Nintendo games themselves, the franchises that you can only buy on them. Its clear even Nintendo themselves have moved away from 'the safe console for children' approach, espicially in their advertising. You don't ever see stuff like this in their ad campaigns anymore. If Angry Birds is becoming the 'next Mario' and is replacing it surely we'd see Mario sales on consoles declining. New Super Mario Bros 2 for the 3DS topped 1.25 million sales in Japan. New Super Mario 3D Land managed over 5 million worldwide, same for Mario Kart 7 which is currently over 6 million worldwide. We should be seeing Angry Birds eating away at those sales, yet it doesn't appear to be happening. T-mobile in Spain did that promotion with Angry Birds because you can play it on their phones, hell the stunt was 'controlled' by a T-mobile device. Using a T-mobile device to play a Mario themed stunt would have been a waste as you can't play it on their devices. I think in that instance, its not related to popularity and more with what makes sense to use to push you're products properly. Of course though, Angry Birds is more popular than Mario right now, but what isn't Angry Birds more popular than?

Bought the Bioshock 1 and 2 bundle deal on Amazon for $7.49. All this hype for Infinite is giving me an itch to play these games. I've played the first one ages ago and got up to the big plot twist.

But for many gamers, Angry Birds is becoming more attractive than Mario. Isn't that like....I mean Mario game sales have been at their most massive in years. I guess the biggest difference there is, Mario games are normally full price retail releases and Angry Birds is 69p. I mean granted its covering very familiar ground but the New Super Mario Bros series is a monster when it comes to sales, and that's from a full price retail perspective. How well is Angry Birds doing as a retail console release?

I loved the original Eurogamer article. The editing turned out to be a blessing in disguise because now the article and its edits and original piece has more coverage than ever. Its such a shame Florence stepped down....love to hear the story behind that.

Heard great things, unsuccessfully tried to buy it when it just before it launched, Steam was on the blink. Will probably get it when its got everything fixed up, heard there's quite a few bugs going on with the game right now. The Eurogamer review pushed it for me. And that soundtrack, fantastic stuff.

Beat Sonic Generations on PC! I was actually just at the end before the 2nd and final boss for ages, but there was one challenge I hadn't S ranked that was driving me crazy, Planet Wisp speed run with Modern Sonic. Finally beat it then kicked the bosses asses. very good Sonic game, although Colours is slightly better.

just bought it. The Giant bomb quick look solidified my decision to get it. Cheaper from the devs site too.

Black Ops 2 is most likely just upscaling to 1080p from 720p or even lower depending on its actual rendering resolution. If they've got the actual game at native 1080p on Wii U that would be encouraging.

Yeah Rayman Legends delay sucks. That was probably looking like the best title for launch.

God, not that long, maybe 5 or 6 hours tops the first time. The next time you can speed through dialogue you've already read so your playing time is always shorter at the start. its definitely worth getting, although aside from the puzzle rooms, its very visual novel like, but its high quality stuff. Definitely the best story I've played on the DS.

Got to an ending in 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors. I was gripped the whole game, loved the puzzles and the plot was thrlling to see progress. There's a lot of dialogue and it plays like a visual novel, but its fantastic. I'm playing again now as I got a bad ending and there's like 75% content that I haven't seen.

Yeah. I don't get why Friday is the regular release date in Europe. They have no problem changing that for big game releases like Call of Duty, and Final Fantasy XIII. Publishers would benefit from making it the same day, as that three day gap that takes place can turn off a lot of people if the game has major problems. Rage probably lost quite an amount of sales on PC in Europe when word came of its problems to people, thanks to that three day delay.

For me, I enjoyed the content, exploration and battling so much that I loved coming to a new area massively open to explore, and then getting rewarded for that exploration.

A bit of a thin roster, and Cole takes up two slots with his evil and good versions, disappointed with the roster. There should really be more bigger characters in there though. Like we get Dante from Capcom but couldn't get Leon or Chris as well? Not even Frank West? And we get Heihachi from Namco Bandai, but a Dark Souls character would have been badass. Disappointed but you know what, as long as the game plays well I'm up for still getting it.

There was an overlong QTE sequence in the Leon demo where you start a car. something that was noted in the Destructoid review of 6 is that, during this sequence, your partner just sits there, in the car, unable to do anything. There was never any time in 5 where I went 'oh wow, this is what a co-op game should be like'. Forced co-op in every sense of the word.

Just got my first ever BSOD on my PC. Looking at the event logs, it was caused by something called AODdriver4.1 failing to start because the system couldn't find that file. Some googling did me good, seems its related to AMD drivers past version 12.1. Showing hidden devices in Device Manager shows an error with AODDriver4.1 and no problems with AODDriver4.01. Don't know why, but you can fix the error by uninstalling AODDriver4.01 from device manager and before rebooting bringing up the Registry Editor and deleting the AODdriver4.01 folder entry from HKEY LOCAL MACHINE/SYSTEM/Controlset001/services. rebooted and now AODDriver 4.1 is working fine in device manager.

If I can get it at €300 for the Premium pack I'll be getting it. Launch line up is fairly decent and even the downloabable launch titles are looking great. No problem waiting to preorder, no doubt there'll be better offers coming out in the weeks up to launch.

More or less, yeah. If I stagger it a bit though, I can keep on going. Or. Knife a bit then run. Cue Benny Hill. I feel like the SP equivalent of a CoD kiddie who goes knife only. Gunplay wise. Its sort of annoying that I land a few headshots and they still doesn't go down. I suppose its for the betterment of the gameplay. Now, what I find to be really annoying is this: You see a "dead" body but shooting it does nothing but when you walk up to it, it'll come back alive despite filling it with lead 3 feet back. So screw us slow and careful players. Those parts really annoyed me. Its not punishing slow and careful players, its just an old stand by of previous generation games that really should have died in the move to this generation, like invisible walls. The demo was very poor at creating tension. I don't know why, I mean it should offer some sort of sense of dread, but I didn't feel anything going through that college campus in Leon's part. It just felt like Resident Evil by numbers. I really would have liked to feel that this is a place gone wrong, that we are basically moving through a college killing students who've just been turned into zombies, but there's no reason to feel anything.
