  1. i think at this point Nintendo deliberately release a gimped first version of their handhelds to make the upgrade seem more appetising.
  2. yay, another sucker upgrader, the XL is cool isn't it? I think it was worth the upgrade. My deal must was looking pretty sweet, too. I got the equivalent of $135 for my DSi. Hopefully I can sell my 3DS for around £80 which will basically mean I got my XL for free.
  3. I don't have cable where i live, so would need a combined modem router, and that's what's normally supplied by ISPs here as most places don't use cable in the UK - it's just in the big cities and only one supplier though our ex-nationalised provider is rolling cable out to more areas but we'd be way down the list here. I have a bt homehub from my last ISP, when I moved to my current ISP they sent me a mother-hubbarding wireless g heap. It's my homehub that needs resetting half a dozen times a night at the moment.
  4. What's a good/reliable make of modem routers? Mine's dying.

    Apple

they sued Samsung because they are by far apple's nearest rival, nothing to do with anything else, imo.

    Apple

I can't even type a response to that without getting annoyed. Suffice to say Apple is the only company that I have ever decided not to buy products from and I have stuck to that decision for several years with no sign that will be changing any time soon.
  7. If by terrible you mean amazing.
  8. the latter is the british (and I guess irish) pronunciation. the former is american. guess that's why you're hearing it more and more as american culture infects the rest of the world.
  9. Still most upset about Cing going under with Nintedno buying them. They'd have made a great 2nd party developer for Nintendo.
  10. It does exactly the same thing as hotmail, but with more blue.
  11. no, unfortunately. However you try to add it it recognises it as another hotmail account and will only let you link it. I really can't understand their thinking behind their decision though - reducing functionality with their own products, usually companies strip usability from competing products.
  12. I'm much too lazy to try anything too interesting. I guess it just kind of rankles that MS have made this arbitrary decision not to allow it when it is perfectly possible. I'm sure I'll forget about it soon enough though.
  13. I wanted to stay in my web browser.
  14. thanks for the suggestions, I've been checking a bit more and for some bizarre reason MS only allow you to add non-hotmail accounts in the way I want, so I'm stuck with the linked option as I don't want to forward or use a client and adding them in to my google email was just a complete mess too.
  15. I have two hotmail accounts and I want to read them both at the same time but when I try to add an email account it tells me I'm trying to add another outlook account and that I should link them. I've done this, but all that does is let me switch between the two not show both lots of mail in one inbox but it won't let me add the account, only link it. Anyone know how I can get them both to show at the same time, please?

    Apple

Haven't read it yet, cos I'm knackered, but sounds interesting. Probably could apply to any retailer, but maybe people expect better from apple?
  17. I'm not saying anyone in their right mind wouldn't want to buy cheapest version, I just don't understand why the public had access to the OEM version to begin with. Building your own PC doesn't qualify you as an OEM, you are still a retail customer of MS if you're not building the PC you're installing the OS on with the purpose of retailing it. The version in PC World was the version the public was supposed to buy whether building a PC or upgrading the OS on an old PC. It seems pretty much along the lines of 'grey imports' which while not illegal, means you're jumping through hoops to get something you're not really supposed to have. Anyway, I did say I was going to leave it so I hope this is a bit clearer as I'm going to bed.
  18. This got stuck in my head the last few days, and the weirdest part is I hadn't even heard it in years. Listen at your peril...
  19. never mind... i think i'll leave this alone now.

  21. I get that OEM is cheaper than full retail, and if in Windows 8 they're replacing the two personal-use versions with one personal-use version that makes sense, but going back to previous versions of windows, I still don't get why just because someone is building their own PC they (think they) should be getting a cheaper version of their OS?
  22. I don't get why personal PC builders shouldn't just get the full retail version?
