  1. I generally think the easiest solution is to just have the quests always available. That way if you get to a part of the game where you are too weak you can always go and do a couple of them. If the game is well designed this shouldn't be a problem as I don't think side quests should advance the main story it shouldn't matter when you do them. If the designers are totally desperate to have a quest fitted into a particular point in the plot (e.g. it involves somebody who later dies) and it wouldn't make sense to keep it available in the game world I wouldn't be averse to a 'missed quests' menu item where can can still select them but will know it won't be taking place in the flow of the game any longer.
  2. I just bought: Doodle God - like Alchemy but more polished plus quests and mini games Burn the Rope - not like cut the rope Angry birds - do I need to explain? Max & the Magic Marker - platformer where you draw the platforms De Blob - a puzzle game, not like the console version. for my Windows Phone. They're all reduced to 79p and while I probably wouldn't have bought them all (especially in one go) if that was normal pricing on WP7 marketplace, they're usually over £2 each so I'm hoping MS will realise cheaper pricing will actually lead to better sales. Plus they're all LIVE games so each have 200 gamer points
  3. sad face. The DS version definitely won't be released in the West. I guess that was fairly apparent at this point but it is still sad to see it in black and white. Apparently it's because it came with a massive book which they couldn't afford to translate and reprint. They can do it with the PS3 version because it is digital. I'd have been happy with a digital version on the DS game if it meant we could get the game, but hey ho.
  4. Finally bought the Witcher as it was only $5 on GOG. When I actually get around to playing it is another matter. I hope these next two are nearer the 100 than 30 that the reviews are spread between on metacritic.
  5. anyone play darkfall: the journal? Reviews are from 30 to 100 on metacritic?!

Pretty good for an adventure game, especially if you like ghost stories and creepy environments. If I remember correctly, it's in flash and very low budget, thus difficult to play nowadays. If you want something more modern, play "The lost crown", it's awesome and made by the same man. He's currently working on a sequel too.

So it's probably great but has some flaws that can be overlooked.

  7. What's the music like in it? Is it similar to the old games I guess it's too much to hope it still has Jerk it out on the playlist.
  8. It's pretty similar to be honest, but you get to play as murray and bentley which adds a bit of variety but there are not really any new things to do in it. I'd probably play a different game in between if you're already getting bored of the first. It's less confusing than say, The Legend of Zelda or Metroid in terms of where to go. I just got stuck in the fire temple. Damn game kept kicking my ass and I gave up. I should go back to it. I bought it Day 1 and never regretted it. I was actually going to say it made me appreciate the design of Zelda as I have never got lost in the dozens of dungeons I've played in those games.
  9. Well, I forgot to put I played Sly 2 in here and have now completed it. I had another bash at 3D Dot Game Heroes but can't get in to it. I'm only on the second dungeon but I hope they're not all this badly designed I don't think it's at all clear where you're supposed to go. It's one of my biggest gaming disappointments. It does mean I've started Sly 3 now. I've only done the first level but it seems similar to the second game. I must be enjoyng them though as I've played them all in a row and haven't got sick of them yet. The only thing I will say is I hope that stupid owl isn't in this one.
  10. I finished Sly 2 today. I enjoyed it as much as the first one. Glad you didn't have to collect so many bottles this time.
  11. I saw this clip in an article I was reading and thought it was funny. I guess his delivery takes a bit of getting used to at first but from 4 or 5 minutes in I was actually laughing out loud.
  12. I don't understand why they go to so much trouble? Don't most sites just let anyone post and then delete stuff that's abusive or spam. Then maybe some will add a like/recommend button. I don't see why they go to so much trouble it doesn't reduce the number of stupid comments and it alienates a whole load of people.
  13. If I'd put money in to that I would not be very happy. It looks like they plucked a figure from the air and pretty much frittered away two thirds of the money as far as I'm concerned. It all looks super unprofessional. No wonder they didn't get money via more conventional means.
  14. I think Holly Valance would have been cool if they were going for an international flavour.
  15. Only going from reviews, it is the weakest of the three, but still a solid title.
  16. Have I missed something in this thread? I seems strange that no one has mentioned the new companion.
  17. The thing about Nintendo is, they won't rush a game for launch. If it's not ready in time, they simply won't release it until it is. It's good in some respects, but obviously from a driving sales point it is not ideal. I do wonder if they have a more next gen online infrastructure they may change their habits to the more common release-then-patch method. I personally hope not, but I'm sure it must be tempting.
  18. Ugh, I'm sooo tempted by that, but I'd need to get Pandora's Tower and Last Story. I will be getting them, but I didn't want to get them just yet.
  19. clicking [prev] to see each page in the thread until you get to your post is easy.
  20. that's what the Japanese title translates to apparently, but the English (sub)title will be Wrath of the White Witch.
  21. rather than after and til we'd say quarter to and quarter past etc. Though I use them I do think it is slightly old fashioned and most people over here would read the numbers too. Like Fuchikoma said, I guess it's linked to the rise of digital watches/phones. I know loads of people just don't wear watches at all now and just use their phones to check the time.
