  1. OMFG, I LOVE NINTENDO!!!1!!* *I finished Skyward Sword. I'd started to think Assassin's Creed was my joint favourite series but it has to be Zelda. I think AC is as fun to play but I just don't get the same warm fuzzy feeling I get from Zelda games. I hate to say it but I think that may be the "Nintendo magic". Or me being a fanboy.
  2. Two things about that article. Firstly, why would the Dad get so mental because they sent his daughter some baby vouchers?! Storming into the shop and shouting sounds a bit OTT. I got send baby vouchers after I bought some baby wipes instead of hand wipes as they were better value. I thought it was slightly amusing and a waste of their time, and that was it. Secondly, I'm a bit surprised they link sales to your credit card. I know the whole point of reward cards is to track your sales, but you sign up for those and receive tangible benefits. I don't like the fact they would assign IDs and track you without your permission.
  3. I would also move to the "like" option - it's more positive and encourages discussion, rather than just down-voting something without giving a reason. I do think that a lot of the time once someone has backed themselves into a corner in an argument whatever they then say, regardless of whether or not it has merit just gets down-voted and it all just seems a bit ugly. Having said that I would be a bit gutted as I just got to 100!
  4. At least were I work as far as i am aware a private company provides the service. We do not advertise the jobs and we can barely keep the people we have employed in jobs. We're all working the minimum hours our contracts will allow. So these people are not taking jobs from potential permanent employees. We did hire one of the people who came in on the scheme as someone when a permanent employee left, some of them are OK, but some are a complete liberty to have here. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's a great scheme, in fact I think there is very little about any aspect of the benefits system that I like or think is well run. Having said that I don't think it is fundamentally flawed idea to have people getting paid the JSA and gaining experience in a work environment. The people you should be annoyed at are the contracted consultants who run schemes like this and all the other employability seminars and courses that are a complete waste of time and money.
  5. I couldn't tell you why but it looks more like a book cover than a DVD cover to me.
  6. it's a course/scheme, and they aren't working for tesco. They aren't people tesco would have hired. If they do a good job, tesco may offer them a job and then they would have rights granted to all employees of tesco ie proper wages, benefits etc. Tesco may not have any jobs available but are providing experience to several people that would otherwise be sitting on their arse with a gaping hole in their CV. Even if they don't get a job with tesco it may help getting another job. It's a bit ridiculous to say shelf stacking isn't a transferable skill. There are plenty of jobs where you'd do just that at a warehouse or other shops for example. Also, even if that is all you do all evening, you are still gaining general employment skills: acting professionally, working with others. And as I said the main thing is you are showing you are willing and able to turn up for work on a regular basis.
  7. you know a lot of the people on these courses are not of benefit to the company they go to work at - not everyone on JSA is an earnest and eager potential employee. edit: connorrrr, they aren't working for Tesco, they're training/getting experience on a Jobcentre course.
  8. People have been raving about Olivia Colman in it. I haven't seen this but I think she is great and would be a draw for me to see it.
  9. Yes, that's exactly what they mean, so they'lll be getting significantlly less than the proper employees, and it works out at conssiderably less than the legal minimum wage.
  10. It says the duration is permanent? I thought it was a fixed term with the possibility of a 'proper job' at the end of it or is this something different?
  11. I've never had good experiences with third party controllers, they always feel loose, light and cheap. Having said that I wouldn't rule out buying one if there was a compelling reason to get it over an official one. That reason would not be monetary. I guess the problem is unless you've actually tried it yourself you it's always a gamble. If you buy official, you know what you're getting.
  12. and the craziest part is anyone that wears polycotton should be a stoned to death.
  13. We used to watch this when I was young. I still have the record somewhere in the loft. Don't know why I suddenly felt the urge to listen to it though.
  14. That why do Christians still use stuff from the old testament to hate on people?

    2. Strangelove

      Strangelove

It plays almost exactly like Peace Walker. Pretty much the same controls. The start button menu with the camo and food and equipment can still be accessed through the start button, but its also on the touchscreen along with the map and the option of switching between tps and fps view. THe 3D is pretty good. I think thats about it.

Oh and if case you havent noticed from screenshots, Snake and the Boss have all new heads. Their faces and hair were redone. They look really different(to me anyways) but it works. The graphics are just as good as the PS2 I think. Still 30fps though I think. Ill need to recheck.

Thanks. My slowness going through the MGS series is legendary but they're still amazing games

  16. what facts can you point to for creationism? That aren't from the Bible. Can't believe a person that believes in God would use this argument.
  17. Religion is like a penis: it burns when you're naughty.
  18. I was just having a patriot moment - not many chances for a Welshman! Cymru am byth and all that.
  19. That's my joint favourite Disney musical, along with Aladdin. May have to watch it this weekend.
  20. do you get subsidies in the US? They just changed how it works here, but until now you were guaranteed to make money out of them as the government paid a premium for the electricity they generated. It lead to a lot of companies that would pay for and install them free in your home , you'd get the free electricity, and they have the prpofits of any that was fed back into the grid. Not sure how it works now but there is definitely no guarantee you'll make your money back now.
  21. I guess people start caring less about the environment and more about their wallets at times like this.
  22. The big six are the suppliers, british gas, EdF etc. not the sources of power.
  23. I could not think of a worse advert an eco-electric company could have come up with. There are so many positive things you could show for green power, even including regeneration of old power sites, but instead they're creating sympathy for the old power and making themselves seem evil in the process. Genius!
