  1. A can of Diet Coke floats, while a can of regular Coke sinks. Anyone got cans to test this out?

FDS, I think Coke has reached levels of awesomeness. Body-destroying, truck-cleaning levels of awesomeness, sure, but still, Coke is awesome.

All I know is that when you unload the boxes of just syrup off a fast food truck the diet coke boxes are considerably lighter than the coca-cola boxes.

  2. []flash file that scales from smallest things in universe up to the entire universe[] pretty cool* seeing how everything relates to each other. link *edit: apart from the ads.
  3. Can anyone using US English in Chrome see if it says under the hood in their options? That would be quite cool if they've changed that, and quite unusual if they've used the UK version internationally.
  4. Then a civil marriage is for you, which forbids the mention of religion, so you already have an option for what you want. If you're attaching any religious connotations to marriage in general, then it is entirely your own doing. And your point about people saying it is wrong that straight people can't have a civil partnership is exactly my point the whole reason there are civil partnerships is to make it different from a civil marriage between straight people - it is not what gay people want. We want marriage equality not so-called "gay marriage". With regards to incest, I agree about the parent child issues but I would imagine siblings that embark on an incestuous relationship are probably psychologically damaged. Maybe they had abusive parents that pushed them closer together, so while they may be consenting, it's probably a n unhealthy relationship.
  5. Where on your nose do you want to repierce? I have an orbital, rook and tragus piercings and I'm 30. I guess most people don't even notice them, and when they do I've only had +ve comments. Though I guess most people would be too polite to say I look awful?! I guess it helps I have a friendly face so even with them in I don't look threatening, even when I used to have a skinhead! I definitely think ear piercings are less attention grabbing than facial piercings though. I used to have a labret piercing but had to take it out as it was rubbing on my gum, and while I loved it at the time I do think I would feel more self-conscious if i had it in now. What's the rectangular thing in the middle that looks a bit like the top of a hammer? Have you ever pierced yourself before? I have, and it was fairly hair-raising! I've been debating with myself for a looong time if I should pierce my nipples myself or get it done professionally.
  6. I did actually mention that the current Government is thinking about allowing gay marriage, and anyway in this country at least marriage isn't a religious institution. If a straight couple get married in a registry office they are specifically prohibited from having any religious elements to the ceremony and yet they are still married. A civil partnership while legally conferring the same rights also legally prohibits them from using the term married. It is entirely designed to differentiate "gay marriage" from marriage. It's why it's helpful to call for marriage equality, not for gay marriage. We want equal rights not special treatment.
  7. I just finished Appaloosa. I really enjoyed it and it was my first ever western. I may give some others a try. Anyone have any suggestions?
  8. Not the same at all I'm afraid. Marriage equality is exactly that. The fact that it is a civil union and not a marriage speaks volumes about pandering to the homophobic quarter and making unjust concessions and it derogates a gay couples commitment as different to a straight couples commitment. It's exactly the same problem as in the USA: "we don't want gay marriage devaluing proper marriage" except we've now got this insulting compromise here that means we're more unlikely to get marriage equality than we were before. Tory backbenchers are threatening to revolt over Cameron's plans to bring about parity and I'm sure he'll decide he has bigger fish to fry. If it was black people who could only have a civil union rather than marriage, you wouldn't think it was the same difference, you would think it was massively racist.
  9. I'm waiting for the rumoured 3DS grey version. I'm hoping if it's the first one on a new console they will explain what the hell is going on as I had no clue when I was playing pearl.
  10. Sometimes cats are nearly as cute as dogs.
  11. Can someone more informed than me clarify how it works in the UK, please? As far as I can work out hate speech is acceptable as long as it is not directed at an individual (where it becomes harassment) nor designed to incite hatred in others so it's OK to say "abortions should be illegal" but not to say "we should attack abortion clinics as they should be illegal". Is that basically correct?
  12. Good luck, Strangleove, I hope it goes well.

  18. edit: my post popped onto the next page so had no context, it was a reply to yant: "That's where my point about Uganda comes in. Millions of children starve to death every year. Should they have been aborted? " They shouldn't have religious people there telling them not to use birth control and it wouldn't be a problem
  19. yant, do you a woman should have a child that is a product of rape?

Oh man... you could make the best stealth earmuffs... take some "monitor" headphones, replace the cable with a thicker one and the speakers with heaters! Then just plug it into a little battery pack.

  21. If you believe life begins at conception, then you are free to base your actions on that - don't have an abortion yourself, and if someone wants your opinion, give it. Laws, however should be based on the best available evidence and that is that a foetus is not a concious child and as such should not be given rights that supersede those of the mother. It's fine to think that life begins at conception, it's not fine to impose those views on others because they are your opinions not facts and why should your opinions hold more weight than someone else's?
