I went a bit mad last night and bought 6 pairs of glasses and prescription sunglasses. My only excuse is it's the first time I've bought glasses online so all 6 were cheaper than I'd normally spend on one pair and probably at least one or two won't suit me so I've hedged my bets. Still, should probably have a bit more sense.

Who won in the fight? Also, I need to give Rick and Morty another try - I couldn't get in to it when I first gave it a go but it maybe got better as it went on as I don't remember everyone being so overwhelmingly positive when it started out.

PC, PS4 and Vita, February 2018. Shame it's not coming to Switch.

Your favorite retro video game platform

I loved our Acorn Electron, chuckie egg was definitely the highlight, but I think my memories around it are what make me look back on it fondly. So I would say my favourite was probably our Amiga 500. Point and clicks were my favourite, Simon the Sorcerer, Monkey Island etc. With my brother we'd play things like New Zealand Story, cannon fodder, sensible soccer, speedball. It was ace. My first taste of console gaming was my gameboy. It had tetris in the box which if I'd never bought another game I'd've been happy. It also had Link's Awakening which my be my favourite game of all time. -

It's fine to bring up old threads that look interesting to you. What's Truxton about I've never heard of that one? -
It seemed interesting when I saw it but then just dropped off the radar. Hope they do OK with it

Hello, good luck finding a switch, if you see one buy first and think later.. I hope you like it here - we're not the busiest board but we're all friendly.
-
Got these for the switch during a rare sale, and after the news of the tumbleseed update to make it less punishingly difficult.

This is why you need to jump in blindly with a launch day pre-order.

I don't know why I love this so much, but I do. I first saw it years ago and downloaded it, which was lucky because it disappeared off youtube so I could still watch it every now and again. Back then it had really few views so I was very surprised when it turned up on tumblr and even more so when I clicked through to youtube to see it had 2.5M views. Mad, but it's nice to think a little bit of joy is in so many people's lives.

I've not bought any accessories for my Switch. If I needed an extra controller I'd consider a PRO, but I'm happy using the joycons slid into the grip, which some people seem not to be able to cope with.

there should be a setting in your phone to swap from sending group messages as one MMS message to multiple SMS messages. That may sort your problem as it will send as a standard text to each person, especially as you say you struggle with pictures which also use MMS so it could be MMS that's the problem. Another way to try and sort that is to turn off wifi as I know my mum has to turn that off to use MMS as the phone tries to use wifi which her network won't let her use to send/receive MMS data.

How is Harry Styles in it?

I assume that's the physical version? Hope you enjoy it. Let us know how you like Salmon Run as I can't work out what people think of it.

If the Japanese Prime Minister's wife pretended not to speak English for an entire G20 meal so she didn't have to speak to Trump, she is awesome.

Does anyone with a PSVR still think it was a good purchase? There doesn't seem that much to do with it.

they're supposed to look like light catching the eyes/highlights, anime style:

She's a great actress and a good fit. I'm confident she'll do a good job. Let's just hope she has the material to work with, having a woman for the first time there are a lot of potential missteps.

There is more strategy in the other modes if you thought splatfest was a bit hectic. Turf war is the "for fun" mode. Though of course there are certainly tactics to be applied. Not sure what's changed in 2, but in the first Splatoon you don't really level up your character, at least not in a way that effects your character's attributes - it just shows how long you've been playing. The main thing you do is choose a weapon to match the stage you're playing, then choose an outfit to match your weapon. Each item of clothing has a different primary attribute ready to go, and up 3 sub-attributes to unlock by playing in that item. It all adds another level but don't expect anything too in depth.

So, what did you think, @danielpholt? I was super rusty but had a good time.

I'm not sure I'll be free tonight but I have downloaded it in hopes. Splatoon was right up there as one of my favourite games last gen (not sure that's even the correct term with Nintendo hardware now) I will give you a tip which seems most relevant to seasoned gamers and it is to give the motion controls a chance, especially if you've played shooters on joypads before. A lot of people seem to have thought, "I'm good at games I don't need motion control" and that is not the correct way to think about it for this game, it's not the easy option, and it's not a lot of movement like whacking tennis balls in Wii Sport or slightly janky unnecessary alternative to stick controls like skyward sword. Think of motion controls in Splatoon more like using a mouse instead a stick. There are so many examples of people going straight into the menu and turning them off and not even trying or just having a mental block and not letting themselves like it. But there are more examples too of people powering through the initial experience of it seeming "wrong" and actually realising it is the best way to play the game for them. Now having had that bit of a rant, whether or not you want to turn them off for the mayhem of the splatfest so you can jump in with how you're most familiar is a different decision and of course you may give it a fair shake and decide you genuinely prefer traditional controls but I would say when you have the full game (and you will want the full game) please consider giving motion controls a try.
