By separate I mean there should be a database with your PSNID and less sensitive info, (games you own, friends list etc. - things that you use for gaming and are visible to the public anyway) then there should be totally separate your billing info, address, email and passwords etc and obviously that would also have your PSN ID but it should be a totally separate (and more secure) system.

It does seem pretty grim, doesn't it. I can't believe they have all those details tied together, and accessible. You'd think the personal details would be well separated from the public details, like PSN ID etc.

I don't think we're ready for all that with gen 8, Dean. Don't forget only about half of xboxes are online this gen, we are a long way off download being the main delivery method for games.

Nintendo hasn't had a popular gamers console since since the SNES (arguably never have had since there wasn't the distinction then). I really don't know that they will ever repeat the success of the Wii-level sales. i think the playstation generation and teenagers won't buy into Nintendo and never will because of it's image. This is the FPS/sports games market. But as long as Nintendo remain profitable so can continue making hardware I'm happy, as I don't want another Sega on our hands.

With the launch of the Wii's successor next year we will be into a new generation of home consoles seven years after the start of the current gen. Are you ready? What do you think Sony and Microsoft's responses will be? Will it work to Nintendo's advantage to be out of cycle with the other players. Or does it mean Sony and MS can built Nintendo's innovations fully into their next gen consoles? Has the generation run its course or do you think it still has life in it.

here's a video that uses 3D audio and you can definitely hear the effect through normal stereo earphones, so it does work.

I just remember people saying the wii would holographically project imagines into your living room in real 3D and other bat doo-doo insane stuff like that, so I am taking all this with an extreme pinch of salt until it has left Nintendo's lips.

I keep meaning to start the millenium trilogy - it's sitting there staring at me. I know I'll enjoy it, but I can't seem to get the motivation to start it.

The way it was phrased I thought something else was meant - I don't thing microsoft bundling IE (they didn't actually restrict you from using other products?) isn't as bad as what Apple are doing with its apps. I thought R__ meant Microsoft actually tried to stop other people's programs working the way apple does.
