  1. Need to replace my 17" laptop. Do 13" screens feel cramped?

lmao, was I you? I STRUGGLED between deciding if I wanted a traditional drawing tablet (with screen), 2-in-1 or a tablet (I settled with this) for drawing for a loooong time. I kicked off 2-in-1s due to me already having a laptop so it would be kind of silly essentially have another. You'll have access to full tried and true programs like Clip Studio which you can straight up buy (on mobile some of the better ones are still WIP and are subscription based) so you got that going. Be sure to check how good the drawing experience is on your choices. I dunno how they would feel but as for sizes...

My Tab S7+ is 12.4" screen so a 13" will be plenty of space to draw. To be fair, an iPad Pro 11" is good amount of space (8.5"x11" paper, duh) too but more real estate is nice to a point. Note, I use cases that has a handle on the back for both tablets.

16" would be way too big/heavy to say draw in bed and I doubt a case is even available for a 2-in-1 that has a handle. So a 16" is probably desk based drawing and maybe a bit on the lap. So basically treat it like a Wacom tablet that's hooked up to a desktop. You might need to treat them all like that though but I'm not sure since I haven't tried those 2-in-1s.

With that said, back to size, I'm not sure how well/bad a 14-15" screen will work since I don't have them in front of me to gauge them. I recommend looking it up.

In another, "will I ever learn?" moment,  while I was dithering, the laptop I was looking at has gone up by £150, so that's not ideal.

Yeah, I think there's some chip shortage on atm. A friend was asking if I could look into gaming laptop for him (since he'ss decided he's not going to bother with PS5 just yet) and they struck me as generally kinda pricier than they used to be (also shocked 4GB RAM is still allowed to be sold?)

  2. I'm finally playing some of the smaller games I kept (keep?) buying on Switch instead of just loading up Animal Crossing and not actually doing anything in it (though I have finally tried to terraform my island a bit, but I'm just not good at that sort of thing). Donut County. I did enjoy the game but the puzzle elements were very light to say the least and it was almost cliche level "indie game" - talking raccoon levels of whimsy and mumbly indecision. yono and the celestial elephants. It was an OK Zelda clone. The tone was odd as it seems aimed at children but the writing seemed pitched way older. It was isometric in a way which caused some unnecessary difficulties. I was happy to play it but would struggle to recommend it.
  3. I don't currently have PS+ to do that. If I buy a PS5 in a year or two I'll only have that months games to start off and will have missed the previous 2 years. I think with the xbox game pass, it's more like a PRIME/netflix where you have access to the whole library of included games (subject to some coming in and out of the pass)? I just know a few people that specifically got the series X because of the pass, and not really anyone being positive about plus, it just seems a bit archaic
  4. Do they still have the annoying issue that you have to "buy" the free game in the month it's on offer?
  5. Due to a combination of price, size, availability and my general lack of desire to game at the moment, I think I'm safe holding out for the PRO or however they work it this generation. May finally play through a bit of my backlog, instead of my usual tactic of selling consoles and giving games away. Have they made any changes to PS Plus? Heard a few people saying how great MS game pass is and that PS Plus is looking a bit sad in comparison
  6. I'll always be a press x-er in my heart.
  7. unfortunately some of us keep turning up like a bad smell.
  8. Since I won't be able to watch it at Eurovision ?
  9. You should play it before it starts getting too light in the evenings. I knew I hadn't played it, but was surprised I didn't own it. I still may do somewhere but it is so cheap on Switch at the moment (£2ish) that I won't be too upset if I see it somewhere else in my library. Especially as Switch is realistically the only place it stands a chance of getting played.
  10. I guess I should put Earthworms in here. It's not complete, but I've stopped playing it as I think I encountered a game breaking issue. It's a point and click, but it clears things out of your inventory periodically as you progress (I don't know if this is deliberate to keep your inventory clean or a bug). I need an item that was cleared out of my inventory and I cannot see another way to progress and nothing on the internet helps. It was already starting to get on my nerves a bit so I don't want to waste any more time on it even though I am so close to the end I can almost taste it. Unfortunately the taste is bitter.
  11. Animal Crossing - I was worried Pocket Camp had put me off the series, but I love it as much as I hoped I would. I'm cautiously optimistic I'll stick with it as I've not really been playing games much at all recently. Yoku's Island Express - I've been wanting this since before it came out but only fairly recently got it and while I'm really not great at pinball mechanics but it's not frustrating me. Quite the oposite - I'm enjoying it. Though if the percentage when I load it is anything to go by it's a lot shorter than I was expecting.
  12. I can't believe I actually looked up if there was going to be a sequel. Mind you, you never can tell with Nintendo.
  13. That is pretty impressive to have a clear backlog, well done. The only way I clear mine is selling consoles.
  14. It looks digital, so it may be worth doing each feature on its own layer and then you can play around with size and position easily to see what looks good.
  15. I liked my brother printer while it lasted. Do hate printers in general though. Have to say I do like HP instant ink so far - I chose the free option so can print 15 pages a month (miles more than I use) and never need to buy another cartridge. May be worth a look if your Dad's a light user. I literally have given up on printing from my laptop at this point though and just email anything to my phone and it prints fine from there which seems a bit odd.
  16. Also, I actually meant to post that I've started watching Christmas movies which I freely admit are generally terrible, acting and predictable plot wise, but I just seem to love them. I did finally find my limit though with a story about a telepathic dog. The acting was extra bad with the adults, and so bad with the children you could actually tell they were just trying to remember their lines.
  17. Wasn't Jack Whitehall in some homophobic brouhaha with beauty and the beast too? Maybe one too many bad memories haunt him from public school...
  18. Came to post that I got a free month of xbox ... ultimate.. game pass? Or something like that. All the free games. Will need to decide what to play before I redeem it else it will probably go to waste. Also, this appeared when I went to post so turns out I forgot to post this from a while back. loved the first one more than the average reviews. Do not know how I'll cope without the Drippy though as it was such a pleasant surprise to hear a Welsh accent - not sure I've ever heard it in a game before.
  19. Leaving the EU with a bad deal, 5 more years of Tories to get us fucked over by US trade "deals" and all their other for the few, not the many shenanigans. Literally could not be a worse outcome. Genuinely impressive that Labour has managed to remain unelectable in the face of this mess.
  20. I get where your Mum is coming from, but he could just as easily be doing the same thing to people who can't afford to take a $3,000 hit (not that that excuses him in any way) and causing all sorts of trouble for them like unpaid rent/bills etc. so instead of just helping him she could be helping several more deserving people by getting him investigated.
  21. I don't know, tbh. It worked when I went in there, I'm not sure how all the ranking and such things work yet. I'm playing at 150cc as it doesn't seem any harder and you get more points.
  22. Anyone playing the Mario Kart Tour app? It's surprisingly good so far. My code is 4175 0234 3626, though I believe you should be able to see me in your list if we're already friends on switch, where I think I'd show up as, "Joe"?
  23. I've been listening to this song a lot again recently.
  24. We've rescued a Romanian girl who is currently nameless which is getting a bit frustrating but nothing seems to stick. She's a nervous little girl but changed so much in just the week we've had her. A long way to go as she's 4 and never lived in a home and not been treated great so doesn't understand how to live in a home or how to interact with humans that want her around. edit: She's called Ada. When we told the lady who runs the rescue she said that was the name of her first rescue dog from Croatia which is why she decided to set up her own charity to rescue the Romanian dogs so that was nice and helped us feel it's the right name.
  25. are carnivorous plants a viable solution to keeping down flying critters to a manageable level?
