I hate tipping with a burning passion. Tips aren't allowed to count toward wages here so waiters are paid at least minimum wage so their work is built into the price of the meal but we still have the social obligation to tip and I don't understand why. it's just so random who you give money to or not.I get treated like shit all day at work and bend over backwards for people, frequently spending more time and going to more effort than I've ever had from any wait staff and just because I sell my customers a pan not the food that was cooked in it I don't get any money off them?

they're pretty tempting at half price though. That's £8.99 here for the first week of release for each game. Pretty tempted by the Prime Trilogy as I only had the first one.

It's pretty weird they'd include the game (pre-installed) on the EU version of the Majora's Mask Limited edition and not the NA version. I assume the limited editions normally come with the games over there? Less bothered about the AC adaptor especially this time around as I won't have to hand mine in when I trade my XL in as it didn't include one to begin with. Still think it's ridiculous though as it's not like it's a standard USB charger or you can do without one. I'm really torn what to do now as I think the Limited Edition is hideous. I prefered the Link between worlds special edition or the faceplates for the small new 3DS. Basically anything. Can't think of any games on the horizon that would warrant another limited edition though and I do want the game... What makes you think it was a NA Direct specifically, TME? they're always broadcast live to NA and EU simultaneously, with an introduction by Iwata and then a section tailored to different markets - ours has the European president, Satoru Shibata. Plus, it was 6 p.m. local time for UK this time usually it's 11 p.m. so it seems to have been moved to a more UK friendly time. Did anyone understand if the episodes of anime were free or just the app to play them? Nintendo are usually pretty clear when you have to pay for something but they didn't explicitly say. Also thought it was pretty weird they showed pokemon shuffle and puzzles and dragons right after each other when they seemed to have similar gameplay. i liked the look of them both though an with the pokemon one being free there's no reason not to try it.

no reason for it not to be real. There's a nintendo direct tomorrow, the ambassador program in the UK, it was released last year in Australia... I'm hoping it's tied to the release of Majora's Mask. If there's a limited edition XL I may be tempted otherwise I will wait, unless there is some compelling new information tomorrow (e.g. faceplates on the XL, free copy of xenoblade chronicles if you register in the first month). I agree it couldn't be more ill conceived. It's like when Apple called the ipad 3 "the new ipad" that was a complete nightmare when the one after it came and the old one was still called the new one. Yes simple is appealing, but you can take it too far. I get that they don't want to give it an entirely new name - it's not a new generation after all, but something that denotes it is actually different is needed. Like 3DSi, 3DS Advance or hell, even "New 3DS with c stick" yes it is clunky and no one would use it in the real world but it would read like a description not name, so in adverts so would help if they didn't want an all new name and would make compatibility issues clearer to the uninformed.

woah, 75 hours, is that normal or did you take a long time over it? I only played the first one when it came out. I really enjoyed it but with all the sequels and spin-offs it's a bit daunting to get back in to.

It seems like a decent summing up of the whole thing to me. often when you go to a news website you have to read half a dozen articles to get the whole story as each one just give info on the latest occurrence.

Do you write any yourself, Laviniya or are you interested in getting started?

Uncharted 4: A Thief's Thiefing Thief
TheFlyingGerbil replied to SomTervo's topic in PlayStation Games
How do you feel about boosting for multiplayer trophies? I think that's what it's called when a group of people organise paying together and take it in turns to win by the trophies rules. Guess the moment's passed for that game though unless you had friends that would be willing. I don't feel like it's cheating but I don't care enough about trophies to do it myself. -
Probably to give people a chance to get the last ones after all the outages like they extended some of their offers

Maybe he's our first celebrity member. Hello Drake, promise I won't ask you to sing.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's Thiefing Thief
TheFlyingGerbil replied to SomTervo's topic in PlayStation Games
That sounds like everything I'd ask for. Only thing that would slightly worry me is multiple routes where you can miss stuff always bothers me and if there's crumbling ledges etc you may not be able to fully explore an area. I would be so annoyed if I ended up climbing into a group of enemies I hate fighting and missed out a cave to explore. -
Miyamoto said before Mario Kart 8 came out that because that now has anti gravity they'd have to come up with something new to justify another f-zero so I'm not holding my breath for it. The quote about making it more gamey sounds like he's talking about MK8, and they're not making f-zero as they don't want to make a plain racer. Thing that bothers me is I believe racers aren't too expensive to make so it seems like a low risk easy win to release an standard continuation of the series but Nintendo seems so loathe to just do anything straight forward and obvious it's really frustrating. Anyway, got this email from Nintendo a couple of days ago for a New 3DS ambassador edition (comes with an exclusive ambassador shell (top) and smash shell (bottom) - if it was the New XL I probably would have bitten. It shows as in stock and dispatched in 24hrs. Wonder if that means the full UK release is imminent as I don't think they've set a solid date. As it is I will hope they release an XL with swappable faceplates or wait until a special edition XL I like comes out. Maybe they will time the release of the console with a special edition Majora's Mask console. My worry now though is that special editions will only be on the small one as that's the one they can just shove a faceplate on. It still annoys me that's they're fixed on the XL. I just can't work out any logical reason for for it - even using nintendo logic

Apparently you have to sign out of PSN for the game to work. As Sony were having their network problems when I first played it that was why I could get it to work a bit as I kept getting signed out of PSN. I guess every cloud...

Hello Luseth. Nice to have a fellow Brit on the board to help keep the Yanks in check.

did anyone buy the standalone version of freedom cry for PS3? I am having a right nightmare with it and wondering if it's the game or my console. I tried loading it three times today and it froze every time at different points but all before I actually got to the game. I've yet to play it without it freezing and having to power off the PS3 with the physical button on the console. I'm redownloading it now so fingers crossed, but I'm not keen on turning by console on and off all the time.

I thought I got this video from here, so apologies if one of you posted it first, but it's not in this thread at any rate. I can't believe the amount of into they teased out of what i just thought was showing off the pretty graphics and big map. granted some of it is a stretch but a lot of it makes sense and nearly all of it is interesting. Either way it makes me more excited for the game just seeing the original clip did. My main question after it is: is there any part of the timeline you would like it to take place in or any game you would like it to be a sequel to or any part of the series' lore you would like it to cover (e.g. the big battle they created the triforce after) maybe it's links job to hide the triforce parts instead of collecting them for a change?

It's got pretty mixed reviews but it's by a Welsh developer, it's on Wii U and was heavily reduced so I thought it was with a try

What are you listening to now?
TheFlyingGerbil replied to Chronixal's topic in Entertainment Exchange
I've not heard that before (think I'm getting old - pretty much couldn't name a single song in the top 40). I like quite a few Mark Ronson songs. The one I've heard loads recently, also has an 80s vibe (though with Boy George on it that was inevitable). -
Do you just get one night with that guy or is he yours to keep?

what are download times like on PS4? Even when things are running well PS3 downloads are slower than I get on 360, Wii U and even vita.
-
Not sure when I'll ever get to play Freedom Cry. After finally managing to buy it I started trying to download it yesterday evening and after about 12 hours it had only downloaded 1.3GB so I gave up. PSN is really starting to hack me off (if you'll excuse the pun). It's not so much that they have issues, it's that they always take so long to sort them out. Even when it's up and running everything seems creaky and slow. I really hoped they'd have upgraded their systems when the PS4 came out. If they have certainly non of the benefits have bled out to the PS3 or websites.

changing down the music and SFX and maxing voice is the first thing I always do when I load a game for the first time. I'm forever rewinding scenes of films/TV because I can't make out what someone is saying and it's the reason I have to have subtitles on games even though I find them really distracting. there was actually a bit of a we-demand-answers in the UK last year about the audio balance of TV programmes with all the music and effects drowning out dialogue. the main culprit that kicked off the fuss was a science programme. I guess it was supposed to conjure the awe and majesty of the universe but you ended up getting frustrated as you were missing the information that was actually meant to be inspiring you.

I had £10 of free vouchers so it's worked out well for me. what's cool is every time Nintendo gave you a free game it's eshop value counted toward your total about half of that free money has come from free games so not bad!

The Premium service is ending on the last day of this year. I know Nintendo always said it was limited time only but I kind of thought they were covering their back and it would go on until the next console came out. I'd still need to spend about £20 it get my next voucher, which is not very likely at all to happen. seems like a waste of the £30 I've spent since my last voucher even though it was free money they were giving out. Anyway, just a reminder to check if you have any free vouchers due or are just a short hop away from one. check here.
