Would it cause problems for computers with small amounts of memory to have a 64 bit OS? If not it would be good if they could just say if you need 32 bit don't upgrade. Everyone else, welcome to the 21st century.

I bought some House of Marley earphones. They were cheap and half price too. They're supposed to be just above average sounding, good for the price and the fabric cable is hopefully durable and less likely to tangle. My last two pairs were fairly expensive but also fairly uncomfortable so I didn't want to spend too much again. I don't think I've ever had a pair of comfortable earphones before, but I just don't want to deal with the amount of space a pair of headphones takes up.

How've I never seen this before?

It seems weird to me that you can think rationally enough to decide what to hit but not to not hit. Mind you I have a really unhealthy coping mechanism for my own aggression, so I have no room to comment. I'm just too much of a skinflint to risk needing to spend money. I guess there's nothing wrong with wanting to punch someone as long as you don't act on it? I'm guessing it would be someone close to you too which wouldn't be very nice to deal with afterwards.
-
Don't you just get more annoyed if you punch something because you haven't solved the original problem but now you're in pain and have a broken wall or other thing that you need to spend time and money fixing. Mind you I'm sure you don't need me telling you it's an unhealthy way to deal with anger.

who did you picture for the role?

Animal Crossing New Leaf, definitely. I can understand that you may not like it, but if you do I can't imagine a game that is more relaxing - you can do what you want, you can't fail, there's no time limit, no one is attacking you. You can look away from the screen for as long as you want, for a conversation, an interesting bit in a show etc. and it will be exactly the same when you look back down. When a villager sees me and hurries over to say they like me so much they want to give me the grand piano they had in their pocket, I can't help but smile.

In the last two days on Facebook I've seen a mum post a bunch of photos of her daughter with the title "my sexy daughter" and another mum posting a photo of her daughter in her "sexy new glasses". Both the daughters are around 5-7 years old. I'm sure they don't mean it in the way it sounds, but it is really jarring to see it with the photos

So, my question for Brits is did you start gaming on consoles or, as is more the stereotype, on computers such as spectrum, amstrad and commodore? I guess it depends how old you are but when I was young I didn't know anyone with a console, we went from previously mentioned computers (though I had an Acorn Electron) and on to Amigas and atari (the ST, i think, but definitely a computer not a console).

Finally finished Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask. I can't even remember when I started it. I enjoy the Layton games but I just get burned out on the puzzles sometimes. Plot was OK, not quite as stupid as some of the others but there is always the problem with mystery plots when something is obvious but you still have to play along with the characters not knowing and the opposite when you know a character knows stuff but deliberately doesn't tell so they can stretch the plot out. It was good to get a decent bit of backstory on layton including that he had a perm, which tickled me. Also the bit after the credits was a bit bonkers so I will look forward to seeing how that pans out and finding out what's up with Descole.

I don't know how new this is but it is pretty cool. Ordinance Survey has made a complete map of Britain in Minecraft that you can download. London: Snowdon: I'm always intrigued by Minecraft but something is stopping me from jumping in - I think it's just too daunting at this point and I know all the cool things I've seen it would be so disappointing knowing the simplistic stuff I'd manage to come up with.

why the heck is everyone photo of an animate object now called a selfie?! I think the worst example recently was watching a live programme about dog behaviour and it had a section throughout of viewers' "dog selfies". It's a freaking photo the owner took of the dog, the dog did not take it itself. To my mind if it doesn't have an arm stretched out of frame it is not a selfie.

What are you listening to now?
TheFlyingGerbil replied to Chronixal's topic in Entertainment Exchange
I'm in one of those moods where I can only listen to about ten seconds of a song before I skip it, even ones I particularly like. It's driving me mad. -
I'm guessing you meant Americans, but: Ice gems are nasty. I have no idea why they were popular. Also, when I was young those cigarettes had paper on to make them look more like cigarettes. Everybody ate the paper, even though it wasn't the edible type. I haven't seen goosegrass for ages, we always used to keep a look out for that when we were in primary school. Since they mentioned Bamboozle, did anyone here used to read digitiser? Some of the stuff they got away with was absolutely bonkers.

TME, it's basically the price to spec ratio of those too good to be true Chinese phones you see on eBay but is actually as good as the spec sheet implies. It runs a custom version of android (cyanogenMod- if you've ever looked into that scene you'll have heard of them) which actually improves the android experience without slowing it down unlike most manufacturers tinkerings. I don't know anyone who has one. I read they were good but take phone reviews with a pinch of salt so it's good to hear they've lived up to the hype. I wish I needed a new phone as it would be right near the top of my list. Can't even think of the slimmest excuse to jump on though as I'm trying to be a bit less wasteful with my spending.
-
Does that mean you have one of the phones yourself? What's it like? (I'm not asking for a code, btw. Just curious)

Started Hyrule Warriors today and played the first few levels in the main story mode and the retro adventure mode. I've never played a Dynasty Warriors game before, but it's pretty much what I was expecting, i.e. button mashing my way through hordes of enemies which is what I wanted and I enjoyed it. My only complaints so far are that the graphics are pretty embarrassing. I know there are a lot of enemies on screen but still, it looks like a 15 year old PC game. The other thing is it's not very clear what you're meant to be doing sometimes - you just wander around aimlessly waiting for someone to call for help and then try to work out which of the half a dozen flashing things on the map is your destination. Speaking of the map even if you know where you're going it's quite difficult to work out the way. There is no route marking so you're constantly looking at the mini-map and heading back on yourself.

Dive. Something gross is going on your head either way. It's easier to wash off the pee afterwards. You could just stand under the shower until you're rinsed then soap up. Imagine having to pick the shit out of your hair before started getting clean Would you rather always have to lie or always tell the truth?

they've had 300 years to think about it: that should be enough for anybody.

I liked the flag with black ground and yellow behind the + cross. Didn't want you getting your hands on our dragon. Independence always comes across as more popular than it is because it's that group that's banging on about it there was no need for unionists to be making a noise before now. I think there were major flaws in the yes campaign which salmond childishly refused to acknowledge. issues like banks having to be based where the majority of their customers are (ie England) having to take the euro to join the EU etc. and I'm not saying they couldn't have been worked through but the way he reacted i think did a lot of damage e.g. saying Westminster would defo give them the pound even though they may not have been allowed it and then just saying they'll use it anyway even if we didn't want them to we can't stop them. It's just much more a romantic than practical notion. As for more devolved powers for the regions, I am dead against it for the simple reason that it is just more bureaucracy to pay for and more scumbag MPs screwing us over for their own benefit. Having said that I would like Westminster to try and spread the wealth out around the country e.g. by giving tax breaks for companies setting significant parts of their business in the north.

so you're saying my ganon/link auto-erotic asphyxiation slash fic is finally going to become cannon? I now literally cannot wait.

Is there a reason he has the scarf? I've never seen it in a Zelda game.

pre-ordered this to get the skyward sword costume bonus (which was the one I wanted, unlike most people it seems) I liked the look of the twilight princess one too but wouldn't get it from GAME if they were giving it away for free. Probably will regret my decision as I'm guessing the price will drop like a stone but the reviews seem OK and I've never tried a Dynasty Warriors game. Do have another Amazon moan though! It releases tomorrow and I ordered it this morning, any other prime item I've ordered would have dispatched same day to arrive tomorrow. but my best prime delivery option was not next day but expedited. Thing is they've done chuff all with it today and aren't dispatching until tomorrow for hopeful delivery by 9pm Saturday. Not exactly my definition of expedited.
