  1. I just finished Ni No Kuni recently (and really loved it) BUT when you kill the final boss and it asks you if you want to do a complete game save it tells you it will save it just before the final battle. ARGH. That means when I want to be relaxing and enjoying the new tasks that have unlocked all the NPCs are in a state of high anxiety, when ideally I would want them all telling me how awesome I am or at least not telling me we've got to prepare for the epic battle I just completed. I remember Twilight Princess doing it as well. The thing is, most characters already have a set of generic phrases that could be defaulted to if they didn't want to write new post game ones so I don't understand why so many games do it - it makes the post game stuff much less enjoyable with the threat looming over your head.
  2. I only played the demo of the first one so will definitely play that before the second one. The decision I'm working on is whether to play them back to back or have a different game in inbetween to give myself a break. Guess that depends how much i enjoy the first one and how long they take.
  3. TCP days he still has welcome park on his vita. I can't see it on mine so thought they'd done an update to remove it finally. Kind of scared to have a better look as I can still just about convince myself it's not there at the moment.
  4. It's definitely good news for us. You're lucky you missed the drama there was a lot of confusion and anger and you missed the temptation to move your pre-order. You can pre-order the special edition elsewhere for £40 rather than the £47 Amazon want which is still good value considering you get a whole new game and revamped old one but it's still nice when things turn or in your favour.
  5. Wahoo! Not sure if you all know about the hubbub surrounding this on Amazon? They only had one SKU up for ages that they priced at £31.85 (near the cheapest available anywhere) and the description said included bayonetta 1. A lot of people pre-ordered it. A few days after the Nintendo Direct they removed the Bayonetta 1 reference and caused a lot of worry. Then they changed the previous solitary SKU to the standard edition and added a Special Edition one for £47. This causes even more worry and emails and calls to customer services who told people to cancel their pre-orders. The ones who ordered before they removed the Bayonetta 1 reference and hung in there (me!) now have confirmation we've been upgraded to the special edition (that includes Bayonetta 1) at no additional cost but the people who were told to cancel and re-pre-order the £47 version or pre-order elsewhere are SOL. So there are a lot of relieved and a lot of angry Amazon customers out there right now. Luckily I'm one of the happy ones! Also, a weird thing about amazon pre-orders is they say they don't charge you until dispatch, but they took my entire gift card balance (£28-ish) straight away with only the £3 balance to pay by card on dispatch. Not exactly happy about that, but I definitely have no intention of meddling with the order payment in case I accidentally cancel it!
  6. that would require effort. I'm not about that.
  7. The demo codes come directly from Nintendo for having a decent amount of activity on your account (i.e. you buy stuff on it) not from pre-ordering (I have no intention of buying the game). But either way, let me know, though it doesn't look like anyone else is clamouring for them. Should have put them on eBay!
  8. I've got two codes for the smash Bros. 3DS demo. It's the special one that doesn't have a play limit. I'm in the uk and I'd guess they're region locked but if you know otherwise you're welcome to try.
  9. I assumed the 'this' you did to your phone was touch it with those nails and that's why you needed a new one.
  10. I always many to watch dexter but as the number of series started to mount up the prospect became increasingly daunting. So... Is the whole thing worth watching. Could you just watch the first series and be satisfied or is there a massive cliff hanger. I don't want to start something that will drag on past its welcome.
  11. I know technically they're android devices, but without access to the play store it's hard to call them that. I guess while they were trying to push their hardware it made sense to keep their services off play store, but now they're pushing their services, particularly Instant Video it makes sense to make it available to as many people as possible. They'll want the big subscriber numbers to entice show exclusivity deals and justify cost of developing their own shows.
  12. Annihilation, the first book in that series is free on kindle at the moment for anyone whose interest is piqued.
  13. I've never seen this before. Does it only work for two digit numbers, and does it work for all of them? If it does it's amazingly cool.
  14. If you go on tumblr and search for commissions you will see a lot of posts by artists with price lists for projects with various levels of detail (e.g bust or full body, with/without shadow, anything background etc.). They're usually just for the digital file - if you were printing it out for them you would obviously charge for that too (at more than just the materials cost as it involves extra work too).If you find some with similar levels of detail to your work you can get an idea what you should charge. Don't think, "it's for friends so I won't charge too much" because when they tell other people they'll expect the same price and you'll end up resenting doing it for a small amount of money more than if you were doing it for free as you'll have the pressure of supplying a "professional" service and product, without the commensurate rewards. Another way is to think how long it takes you to complete a piece including thinking time and divide it by your price and see how awful that looks - it will almost certainly be below minimum wage so you should certainly not feel bad for what little you would charge.
  15. There is not much subtlety in Doctor Who. Him literally asking every man and his dog "am I a good person?" is not exactly the nuanced exploration of his inner turmoil we were promised.
  16. Since I've been banging on about it so much I though you'd all be overjoyed to know I've finally got a clean 8.1 install! Wahoo!

I can't wait for the fun to start again.

  17. Maybe they just want you to watch
  18. I don't believe in gender so I can't be sexist.
  19. I'm sure I've seen a photo of it and it's a button. Can't find it now though. While I was having a look I did find a new bit of info. The new ones will have changeable covers. So all those £200 special editions should now be £20 covers and hopefully as a pack-in with new games for an extra tenner. Quite excited by that news as I've seen some I love (animal crossing and link between worlds spring to mind) but I couldn't bring myself to buy a new console just for a change of colour but could be tempted by a cover
  20. It's on the right side. That home button is looking very lonely below the screen now, though I do like that they've moved start and select to where you'd expect them.
  21. What do all you people call the first and last slice of a loaf of bread?
  22. That feeling when you scrape across the finish line in first place, then realise it was the second to last lap.

  23. There's a new version of 3DS and 3DS XL coming out this year in Japan and 2015 in EU/USA. -It has a right analogue stick -an extra pair of shoulder buttons -camera tracks face to minimise ghosting/maximise sweet spot -faster processor (mentioned for faster OS operation, rather than beefier games) -micro SD instead of SD -coloured ABXY buttons. -Moved the start/select buttons to the right of the screen. So what do you guys think? Look like a worthy upgrade? Nice to see they're improving the 3D, as they seemed to have sidelined it, and apart from the small sweetspot I love 3D so this is great news for me and makes it a major temptation. I wonder if the processor and shoulder buttons/right stick will result in exclusive games, or more likely games that can detect being in the new console and take advantage of the features. Or more likely still not utilised at all. eta: they already announced a port of xenoblade chronicles which is exclusive to the new consoles, taking advantage of both the new controls and extra processing power, so that's that question answered to an extent - still need to see how much support it will get. Downsides are the right stick looks more like a nub, in an awkward position and also the two shoulder buttons being in a straight line looks like you may end up hitting both by accident - I guess we won't know what that's like until we get our hands on it. the wii u gamepad feels a lot better than it looks like it should so it not definitely going to be awful. Overall, I will probably be a fool and upgrade but I don't think people will feel like they're being left too far behind if they don't want to buy it.
  24. It's a dense foam that's half chewy and half dissolve-y. I really can't think of anything to compare it to, certainly nothing natural.
