Well, having played this game for 15 levels by now (I believe the current cap is 30), I think I've experienced enough of the game to form an educated opinion on it, and I must say that I really misjudged it. I, like a lot of people, scoffed at this game all the way up to release because Ubisoft was practically promising the moon with The Division and it seemed like couldn't possibly live up to the hype. Whether or not they delivered will depend on who you ask, but either way I think they've put out a really solid game here. I was expecting to be burned again like I was with Destiny, but The Division feels more like it's living up to Destiny's potential. The world is huge and full of stuff to do and discover, which is all the more impressive when you consider that there's no loading most of the time, even when switching from PVE to PVP. It also looks very nice, even after the downgrade (though misrepresenting the graphics was still a shitty thing for Ubi to do). The most common complaints I hear against this game are that it's grindy and that enemies are bullet sponges, and to that I have to say that both of these points seem overblown, especially when compared to Destiny. Maybe when I hit the max level it will start to feel grindy, but so far I haven't been forced to do a bunch of repetitive tasks over and over, and the bosses aren't even close to being as spongy as Destiny's bosses. I suppose some of these people who don't like Division also dislike Destiny for the same reasons, in which case I guess these kinds of games just aren't ever going to be their cup of tea. The third complaint I hear is that the guns don't feel as good, which...yeah, okay, that's a fair point. Firing the guns in Division doesn't give you the same satisfaction that Destiny's guns do. However, I think the team-based gameplay makes up for it. Make no mistake, if you try to play this as a single player game you will probably get bored and frustrated. However, if you team up with a group, you'll end up working together and coordinating tactics when you take on some of the tougher engagements. You actually have to take each person's abilities and positioning in mind, and it's really satisfying when everyone is working together like a well-oiled machine. Some of the earlier missions, like the ones in the beta, are easy enough that you can just get by with hiding behind a cover point and waiting for the enemies to come to you, but that won't fly later on. You'll eventually reach a point where you have to start thinking strategically if you want to survive. It's also nice that you can switch abilities at any time, thus letting you try a bunch of different builds without starting whole new characters. I haven't done a whole lot of the Dark Zone yet, but what I have played of it so far was very tense and exciting. I'll dive into it some more after I get a few more levels under my belt.

This was today's deal on Chrono.gg. I got it for five bucks. If you haven't heard of it, it's a strategy/stealth game where you have to sneak into your neighbor's obnoxiously loud party at 3 AM and kill everyone inside without getting caught by the police.

I am finally playing Witcher 2 and it is so much better than the original. Witcher 1 isn't a bad game, not at all, but it really hasn't aged well over the years and the combat in 2 is a vast improvement. I'm still glad I played the first one since I can better understand the story in 2, but I'm not rushing through this one just to get to Witcher 3 like I did with the first one.

Oh right, Canadian dollars. I thought you were talking about, you know, real money. On an unrelated note, the uplay version actually plays with Steam a lot nicer than expected. After I added the exe, it worked just the same as if I'd bought it on steam, minus things like trading cards. The only time uplay came up was after closing the game. Steam version is still preferable, I suppose, but if you end up finding a really good uplay deal then I'm just saying that it isn't THAT bad for this particular game.

So did anyone else end up getting this? Admittedly I only got it at launch because it was a free gift anyway, but so far I'm actually having a good time with it, and it's not giving me any of those nagging feelings of doubt like Destiny did.

You can only vote for the party you registered for, which is a complete crock if you ask me. I was registered as an independent until I was told this during a primary, so I grudgingly changed it to democrat because it was the lesser of two evils.

Zootopia. Honestly I went into this one expecting nice animation paired with 90 minutes of cheap animal stereotype gags, but it turned out to be a pretty thoughtful allegory about race relations. Those same animal stereotypes that are usually used for simple jokes are treated like hurtful stereotypes in this world, and there's real issues of trust and profiling between the predator and prey communities (this is a world where predator animals long ago evolved past their need to eat prey animals). The characters were very well written, especially the rabbit protagonist, Judy, who is quite lovable and clever but also ignorant in the sense that she thinks calling a predator an "articulate fellow" is a genuine compliment. This movie was surprisingly mature for its premise, and in my opinion the best film to come out of DAS since....I dunno, I'd have to go pretty far back. I would love to see a sequel someday.

I've never actually read Playboy but I've heard they really do have pretty interesting articles from time to time.
