  1. Lol. Diablo III. If that's the final reveal, that is one hell of a stupid way to end this thing. edit: nvm they brought in Activision. Call of Duty would be a much stupider way to end this. Ha, guess that's why they ended up not showing any gameplay footage at their big Destiny reveal. edit 2: Uh, didn't get to see the actual console. That's kind of disappointing.
  2. Yeah, at first I was thinking this couldn't possibly be inFamous. Kinda disappointed that neither Sucker Punch or Guerrila have shown new IPs, tbh.
  3. Man, that Killzone demo sure looked pretty.
  4. ... I'm thinking Band of Brothers? edit: Saving Private Ryan. I was close.
  5. Just read on Joystiq that "loyal customers" have been receiving 10$ in free PSN credits this morning. Turn on my PS3 just in case. New message?! :D "Friend request from RealSovietBear." Godammnit, Cyber Rat!

You mean the same Ken Levine interview that like 5 sites had? The guy was in interview mode for a few weeks it seems. Their long articles are definitely their highlight though. I've enjoyed a few of those that I could make it through. The magazine format can be hard to get through on a desktop.

Yeah, their web design was a bit weird at first but I got used to it. And yeah, Levine gave a bunch of interviews around that time. But I thought their piece was particularly good. It was more interesting than a simple Q&A. I liked how it was more about Ken Levine himself than it was about Bioshock Infinite. It was much better than the failed interview that was posted on RPS, for example.

Holy shit that's a sweet lookin' bear.

  6. I don't know if there are any fans of Planescape: Torment around here but having recently played through most of it, I am very excited about the recently-announced sequel. And while there isn't much to discuss yet, the game now has a website! https://torment.inxile-entertainment.com/ Only some brief outline is available about the actual game, but there's also a section where you can vote on the kind of rewards you'd like to be available once they start crowdfunding.
  7. I'll echo the sentiment that leaving the forum entirely seems overly melodramatic. Especially over a single incident. But, having now read that chatlog... I can kinda see why Six got frustrated. Having argued once or twice with Dean in the past, no offense man, but you can be a really unpleasant person to have an argument with. :/ Also, I obviously can't speak for Six. But the answer to that last question seems kind of... obvious. That part was clearly a more personal discussion and twitter, with its 140 characters limit, really isn't ideal for that.
  8. Am I crazy or does Booker kinda sound like Nolan North in this one?
  9. More drama. http://www.destructoid.com/developer-gearbox-lied-to-sega-2k-over-colonial-marines-245986.phtml Gearbox allegedly lied to both SEGA and 2K about the ressources allocated to the project while still collecting milestones checks for a full-size team. Lol. We'll probably never know for sure what actually went down but this is all making Gearbox look pretty bad.
  10. Man, Rock Band DLC coming to an end on April 2nd. I haven't actually bought anything in a while because I barely play anymore. But it's still kinda sad. Good times were had with this series.

I think it's more technical than that. I think I remember reading that RBN was made with some Xbox infrastructure thingie or something along those lines. And yeah, PSN got some selected RBN tracks every now and then but those were no different than regular DLC releases. They had to go through Harmonix. Pretty sure on Xbox artists can just upload their own stuff.

Oh, really? I do recall it coming to 360 loooong before PS3, but figured that was because of the friendlier infrastructure. Guess it makes sense that MS probably supported the devs, too. See, that's one of the reasons why I still think the PSN is lacking compared to LIVE.

Yeah, the actual network is only on Xbox.

  11. That's Bungie COO Pete Parsons. Methinks that quote on RPS was taken out of context, and when Jones said no one plays them like that anymore he was talking about the limited weapons, regenerating health, etc, not PC as a platform. Well to be fair, RPS did post the quote in its entirety and he didn't say exactly that. But it still seems like a pretty damn stupid and kind of arrogant thing to say. Halo did change FPS conventions in a big way but hardly all of it was good. For example, regenerating health and limiting the amount of guns you can carry both come to mind as things people generally tend to dislike.
  12. Oh, yeah, that failed pretty hard. Wasn't that more of a Diablo-like action-rpg, though?
  13. MAG? Also, there's currently PlanetSide 2.
  14. I wasn't trying to be snarky. 10 years is a long time. Much longer than any console generation's ever lasted. That's why it seems kind of weird to me. And like Dean said, they're releasing it for consoles that will be obsolete before the year's end. As for it not coming to PC, I'm not too bothered. So far, what little information they've shared makes the game sound like it won't really be my thing. I'm really more a single-player guy.
  15. I figured that 10 year thing was more about the IP than a single game. I can't imagine them seriously thinking they can make a single game live that long. Especially if it's only on consoles.
  16. Apparently, no one wants to play shooters with mouse and keyboard anymore. Sure glad someone told me because I guess I was playing an entire genre wrong. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/02/17/destiny-not-coming-to-pc-bungie-deny-reality/
  17. I see. But still, kinda sounds like you'd be playing single-player the same way you can technically play WoW solo. They make the game sound very MMO-ish.
  18. What bait-and-switch thing? Basically, the game they marketed and previewed at events has absolutely fuck all to do with the game they released. The demo footage showcases a game that looks genuinely atmospheric and fun. The side-by-side comparison with the final game makes it look like either the footage was completely fake (most likely) or they removed a SHITLOAD of stuff like lighting effects and dumbed down the AI, which makes no fucking sense.
  19. Unless I'm missing something, this sounds very much like a multiplayer-only deal. Doesn't seem to be any mention of a single-player campaign. So how exactly is always-online something that could work against the game? That's pretty much a requirement for all multiplayer games.
  20. I know, I just couldn't resist. That being said, Dean is right. Gearbox's reputation is definitely going to take a major hit for this. Regardless of how much of the game was actually their work, they were the studio in charge of the project. So any screw-ups that happened on the planning or management level is entirely on them. And even though they probably had nothing to do with how PR and such was handled, that whole bait-and-switch thing with the preview demos is simply disgraceful and they can't really distance themselves from that. Also, that Inglorious Basterds-inspired shooter might not be that well-received considering it was initially a BIA game and they had to back out of that because the fans were pissed. Not exactly the greatest first impression. The game looked kinda cool, though.
  21. Man, those trailers are seriously fucking awesome. I really wish that was a real documentary
