  1. 1$ on the Humble store. It's surprisingly addictive for a game this crushingly difficult.
  2. Ha, yeah I was actually talking with a friend of mine last night. He used to play a lot of 2v2 and was telling me what their main plan was. It was pretty much a cheese. His teammate would rush to speedlings and attack the front of one base to distract while he sneak-warped a bunch of units in the corner of the other base.
  3. Yeah, cheesing is a legit way to play. Anyone that says otherwise is just butthurt. That being said, there is a big difference between MVP doing it and some random dude in bronze doing it. One is a thought out strategic move, the other is just not good enough to win otherwise.
  4. Yeah, I'm pretty sure I already have you on my friends list. Mine is FLD#1974. How busy are you guys this week-end? Maybe we could set something up? I have a ton of homework to do plus Infinite to play, but I'd be willing to take an hour or two off from both for some StarCraft 2 action.
  5. Was bored between classes and with nothing to do earlier this week, so I started playing this again and remembered just how much goddamned fun it is. It's 50% off for the Steam Indie Spring sale and this was the cheapest way to grab all the other teams, Currently 25% off on GMG + my 15$ credit from buying Infinite = 22,49$. And it's been out less than a month. I fucking love PC gaming.
  6. Well, I have to suffer through 9 hours of classes today before I can come back home and play more Infinite. :( On the bright side, once I get through it: 4 day week-end :D

  7. It now has a teaser trailer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=BWM4R5JsakE Gotta say, I really love the art style.
  8. Might want to get started on StarCraft II, then.
  9. Oh, I'm assuming this is a Big Boss game. When I said Snake, I meant Big Boss. Naked Snake and all. But he was also voiced by David Hayter in all the games up until that little bit at the end of MGS4. But yeah, anything could happen with Kojima, I guess.
  10. I know, but it seems like an odd detail to be changing from a writing perspective, especially since the voice is so iconic. All I can think of is how Big Boss had a different voice from Snake at the very end of MGS4, but I think that was just because it would've sounded ridiculous to have David Hayter voice them both...
  11. Agreed. I would've preferred it be a spin-off like Ground Zeroes originally seemed to be, but it's really not a big deal. I'm sure it'll be fucking amazing regardless.
  12. Yeah, for Ground Zeroes. Nothing against that idea but I was kinda hoping that Phantom Pain would be a different, more traditional MGS. edit: trailer and gameplay demo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xw5t45tEPWQ edit: updated the trailer embed to a better version, old one was missing a few seconds at the beginning.
  13. Well, it's official. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Really glad it didn't turn out to be related to Ground Zeroes. Err, nevermind. IGN are saying they are in fact two parts of the same game... Looks like MGS5 is an open-world game :/
  14. Well, to be fair, I'm running hardware that's almost 4 years old now. CPU: Intel Q9650 GPU: GeForce GTX 295 6GB DDR2 RAM The problem is, I'm well above the minimum specs and only fall short of the recommended ones in VRAM, and not by much. My PC is still more powerful than current consoles, so there's no excuse for such shitty performance. That being said, your card is more recent, so you shouldn't have any problems. But I have heard reports of people suffering from performance issues on high-end hardware too, so who knows. The engine is an unoptimized piece of crap, basically. Yeah, I've been hearing the game scales wonderfully. Good on IG for making a great port.
  15. Ever since getting burned on Assassin's Creed III, I've kinda lost faith in my rig's ability to handle any new game so there was no way in hell I was paying 60$ without being sure. So I torrented it last night and tried it just now. I didn't even make it up to Columbia. As soon as I saw the framerate was high, I closed it and uninstalled because I knew I wouldn't be able to stop myself from playing all night. I wasn't going to be able to buy it until next week but I said screw it and borrowed 60 bucks. Sucks that I missed out on the pre-order deals but I already owned all the bonus games anyway so it's not a big deal. What's pretty cool is GMG were still offering 15$ in store credit. They also had it for 25% off without the credit but since it's pretty much the same thing I figured I'd take the credit, combine it with a voucher and grab Tomb Raider next week.
  16. It's settled, then! We play strictly on weekdays. i.e. without Ethan
  17. Like I said, you don't really need to worry about tactic at this level. That being said, to answer your question, the cheapest tactics are called "cheese". Basically, it's rushing to a very specific build so that you can attack your opponent before he's ready. I can't tell you of any specific one because I never bothered learning any, but know that they are very high risk tactics. A good player will be able to hold his own against a cheeser and once it has failed, the cheeser is at a significant disadvantage. There's almost no coming back from it. To give you an idea, there's a pretty good youtube series called When Cheese Fails. It's two guys casting replays of games where cheese was attempted and failed miserably. It's pretty damn funny. Here's the playlist for the first season
  18. To be honest, they're my least favorite race, I rarely play them and I know the least about them. But I do often hear that said about them so I assumed there had to be some truth to it. But, like I said, I think it's meant in the mechanical sense. It might take longer to build an army but you also have much less to worry about in the bigger scheme of things. Workers are instantly freed up and you don't need to worry about getting supply blocked as much since your buildings require Pylons to work so you need to build a bunch of them anyway. That right there are two things I can definitely see making a big difference for a complete beginner.
  19. Yeah, it's usually broken down like this. Terran is the most micro intensive. Zerg is the most macro intensive. Protoss is the easiest for beginners. None of this takes into account details like unit/race balance or specific match-ups. But from a purely mechanical standpoint, it's a good way to break it down.
  20. I'm pretty sure we can still play together. I think we'd just have to go in our options and set our game level back down to Wings of Liberty. They'd be crazy to forcefully facture the player base like that. edit: But still, yeah, you should totally get HotS.
  21. Yeah, didn't think to mention it but Protoss are a stupid race for cheaters so you only need to use one probe when shift-queuing actions. It just "calls" the building and the buildings basically "build themselves". So the probe is immediately free to do other stuff, which is why Protoss are often said to be the most noob friendly of all three races. Like I said. Cheating.
  22. I'd be down for that. I'm more a fan of 1v1, but if we have a bunch of people, 2v2 or more could be fun. I also have HotS.
  23. Oh, okay. You don't really need that if you set up control groups. And nah, that's one thing you need to use your mouse for. Don't worry about precision, though. You can just do a quick grab. Let's say you need three SCVs and grab 5, you set down three buildings and shift-click them back to your minerals. The two extras won't have anything to build and will just go right back to mining. edit: or you could always hotkey 3 SCVs to a control group and use that. It would always be the same three, though. So if they get destroyed, you'll have to re-add one. I also wouldn't advise using 1-6 for this. You want those for stuff you'll be using the most. But I guess using 8 or 9 could work. You just gotta train yourself to use it well.
