  1. Lol. How do you figure that? I buy full priced games multiples times a year. Actually more than 2 or 3. Admittedly, lately I've been reverting to PC as my main platform so while I've been buying games at launch I can somtimes get them cheaper, but I still bought a bunch of 60$ games this year.
  2. I came here to post that same trailer. I've been hearing about this one for a while so it's nice to finally see some footage. I'm a big fan of Guillermo Del Toro so I expect this to kick all kinds of ass. That being said, it was distracting as hell to hear GlaDOS. I'm kind of hoping that's placeholder.
  3. Mark of the Ninja. Holy shit, this was one of the best games I've played all year! It actually gave me some flashbacks of the old Splinter Cell games. Hiding in the shadows, taking out lights, only striking when you know for a fact you can take your target down and disappear. This is pure stealth and I loved every second of it. I am really hoping for a sequel.
  4. I'm not complaining. Mark of the Ninja is fucking awesome
  5. Sold my PS3 copy a while back and I've been waiting for a good deal to replace it. Was gonna be on the lookout for it during the steam sale but GMG beat them to the punch. 75% off + 35% voucher I got for filling out their recent survey. So a little under 5 bucks This is the second game that was on my sale shopping list that I end up getting earlier and for cheaper than anticipated.
  6. You mean David S. Goyer. That guy is pretty hit-or-miss. I was actually surprised when I found out he was involved with Nolan's Batman trilogy. Last I'd heard of him was years ago when he was getting his first directing gig with Blade Trinity and we all know how that turned out. It looks like his involvement with the Batman films was fairly minor, probably brought on as a consultant of sorts because of his familiarity with comics. His only credits on imdb for the entire trilogy are all for "story", which kinda supports that. The Nolan brothers wrote the screenplays themselves. I have to say I'm a bit worried to learn he has full screenplay duties on Man of Steel. Snyder on the other hand I have no problem with. He's not a bad director. He has a great visual style and definitely has an eye for action.
  7. Gave up on finishing it or gave up on being stealthy? I'm stubborn as hell when it comes to stealth games so I usually keep retrying until I pull it off, but there were a few spots in Absolution where I was pretty damn close to running out of patience.
  8. Yeah, I'm also waiting for the steam sale. I know what I'll be getting my target but it would be silly to pay its current full price.
  9. But you got me instead, it seems! Big thanks to W&S for getting me Mark of the Ninja and Containment: The Zombie Puzzler!
  10. Yeah, I didn't go guns blazing a single time in the entire campaign. I mean, I did do it for fun a few times after screwing up but I'd always reload to a previous checkpoint afterwards.
  11. I'm tempted to get this as well, if only to finally have the entire trilogy on a single platform.
  12. Even better: write "Hitman" on a piece of paper which you then wrap around the rock, then on christmas morning you throw it through his bedroom window. Also, a few things worth pointing out. If you're only going to be sending him the game on christmas, then don't buy it right away as you could potentially save a few bucks once the Steam holiday sale starts. But if you do buy it early, then make sure to make your inventory private, otherwise it's going to be sitting there in plain view.
  13. You can just gift him the game through Steam. Not the same as giving him a physical copy but it's less boring than handing him a giftcard.
  14. Sleeping Dogs. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's standard open-world fare with a melee combat system straight out of Arkham City. The Hong Kong setting added a nice bit of flavor to differentiate it from other games in the genre and the story is actually quite good. It's a bit lacking in the side-missions department, though. Not as barren as L.A. Noire but nowhere near as much stuff to do as in something like GTA.
  15. Yeah, an ugly cover is usually no more than just that. I don't think it really implies anything about the game itself. Seems like jumping to conclusions a bit.
  16. Yeah, exactly. The original Bioshock might have a similar cover superficially, but the Big Daddy was a completely original character and is iconic as fuck. They could've just as easily used Songbird for the cover of Infinite, or even this guy and it would've been much better. But as it stands, it actually kinda feels like they made a conscious effort to have shitty box art when they had plenty of better alternatives without straying too far from the norm.
  17. All five packs. I've always been tempted to get them because of nostalgia but have felt that at 3$ a piece/7,50$ per pack, it kind of added up pretty fast. Well, the entire thing is currently on sale for 5$ over on Amazon.com downloads. There's even a Steam DRM option.
  18. Agreed. That's my current desktop wallpaper.
  19. Man, I'm not one to be usually too bothered by crappy box art, but that is one ugly-ass cover. I guess they're trying to make Booker more iconic/give him more personality than Jack?
  20. Oh man, I love the Dustforce soundtrack so much. I haven't played the game as much as I would've liked because I am absolutely terrible at it but I've been listening to the soundtrack a lot.
  21. So, I just got Saints Row The Third. How crucial is it that I play the second one first? I own it but it's a pain in the ass to get it to run properly on Windows 7.

Weird how the THQ bundle doesn't include too many of their older games. They probably could have replaced SR3 with SR2 without much change in sales.

Well the PC version of SR2 is notorious for being a shitty port, so that might be why they didn't include it.

And having SR3 be the Beat the Average bonus probably gives a healthy boost in sales and is a great incentive for people to pay a bit more. Plus, more people to sell DLC to.

They went with SR3 to sell shitloads of DLC.

  22. Perhaps it was motion sickness of some kind? At first I thought maybe you meant it was awkward switching between guns and plasmids but you mentioned 360 and I thought that wasn't so bad on the dualshock 3. But then you mentioned the aiming and movement. I remember back when I was playing Killzone 2, one afternoon I was playing and started getting a headache and just... it's hard to describe. It felt kind of claustrophobic, I guess. At the time I thought I was just tired and shrugged it off. But now I realize it was motion sickness and the claustrophobic feeling was probably due to the narrow FOV, which would be fine for a TV across the room but my PS3 is hooked up to my computer monitor so I was sitting less than three feet away. I had no idea what was going on at the time because I'd never experienced motion sickness while playing a game before. Haven't had it again since, either.
  23. I disagree that Max Payne 3 was mediocre. But yeah, the soundtrack was perfect for it. The game might not have had the same kind of atmosphere as the previous two but it pulled off the new one quite well and the soundtrack was a big part of that. Also, nice pick with Dishonored. Made me realize I never really noticed the soundtrack while I was playing the game. I should probably give it a proper listen. In the meantime http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0ILqWcd214
