  1. Alright, this should be the last round. Past few days: Also grabbed the remaining Shogun 2 DLC. Today: I'd been hoping for a Sup Com daily deal, but it never happened Also, kinda kicking myself for only getting interested in King's Bounty today because it was a daily deal at some point... Really stocked up on strategy games this year, which was intentional. All part of my 2012 gaming resolution: to stop sucking at strategy games! I think that's a slighty more achievable one than something completely unrealistic like conquering the steam backlog
  2. Happy new year! This is indeed a fine forum. Definitely the best community I've ever been a part of.
  3. Martin Freeman is Watson? Nice! Started getting it but it's going fairly slow atm Probably won't be able to watch tonight...
  4. Yeah, I agree that it's very hard to compare Smith to the others. And I think that's what's brilliant about Doctor Who. In the right hands, that show can never get stale. And thanks for the recommendations. I'll definitely check those out. Actually, Sherlock's been something I wanted to watch for a while now. Think I even downloaded it at one point, but never got around to it. Didn't know it was Moffat, though.
  5. So I'm almost done watching the fifth season. So far Matt Smith is... pretty good, actually. I'm still not sure if I like him better than Tennant (I actually teared up a bit during the last 15 mins or so of End of Times) but he's certainly not inferior. At first, I still preferred Tennant, but then this happened and suddenly I wasn't so sure anymore But really, I feel like the overall quality of the show has significantly improved. It actually feels like a completely different show, which I guess was a smart move. Like you said, new Doctor, new TARDIS, new companions and everything. But not only that, the feel of the show has changed. I'm really loving the darker tone and the season arc feels more organic and focused. Also, looking back at old episodes' credits made me realize Moffat actually wrote some of the darkest episodes of the past few seasons, most of which are among my favorites. Stuff like the Empty Child two-parter from season one that introduced Capt. Jack Harkness and the Silence in the Library one as well. Was also really glad to see the weeping angels again. So, yeah, not disappointed at all.
  6. StarCraft 2 for 30$. Kinda want, but after spending over 100$ on Steam, not sure if should...

@Faiblesse: You got a point there. I'll probably be able to grab the first one much cheaper once Heart of the Swarm comes out.

Hahaha Hadn't even noticed it got cut off. Sorry. He said that Dawn of War II was a continuation of the story started in Dark Crusade, so it would make more sense to play it first.

  7. Yeah, SpaceChem is absolutely amazing. Maybe I'm just dumb but some of the puzzles are really mind-boggling at first glance. So I feel really clever when I come up with a solution after thinking about it for 30mins
  8. Hmm, seems I forgot to post about it, but I beat the Metal Gear Solid series (as in 1 through 4) a couple of weeks ago. I'd already played all of them, but MGS 2 and 3 were the new HD versions and it was the first time I played all four in a row. Still working on Peace Walker, though. Haven't really touched the PS3 since the Steam sale began. And while on the subject, I've already finished one of my new purchases: Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. Pretty sure it's the first time I actually finish a game bought during a Steam sale before the sale ends. I don't play tabletop miniature games but I absolutely love the 40K universe, so I enjoyed this one quite a bit. It gets kind of repetitive before long, the combat system is rather shallow and the game can be a bit frustrating at times but I still had a blast playing it. That being said, I think there is a lot of room for improvement. I would love to see them improve and expand on the formula in a sequel and maybe come up with a story that includes more of the lore rather than just limiting itself to the humans, orks and chaos.
  9. It was one of the few big games I was on the lookout for, but I was hoping for more than 50%. So after hesitating all day yesterday, I ultimately decided against it because I'm at the point where I realized I spent a bit more than I thought I had! But then today's deals came up and I saw there was nothing of interest to me, so I changed my mind at the last minute
  10. Latest purchases from the last couple of days: I have to admit, I only bought Beat Hazard and Sequence because they were extremely cheap and had achievements for the gift pile But goddamn am I glad I did because they both turned out to be awesome! I'd been hearing Beat Hazard was great for a while now but was never really that interested. Now I'm kicking myself for not getting it earlier! Also, Sequence? Just plain awesome. It came outta nowhere and I'd never heard of it prior to buying it, but it's one of the best games I've played since the sale began. Think a Puzzle Quest-like game, but replace Bejeweled with DDR/Stepmania. It also helps that the voice acting and writing are pretty great.
  11. Nope. I've done all the "free" achievements so far, so I've downloaded quite a few F2P games. Thank God for unlimited bandwidth. It was kind of a mixed bag. CrimeCraft was absolute and utter shit, Spiral Knights was just not for me and Rusty Hearts was... okay, I guess. Not good enough for me to keep playing, but it was decent. Rise of Immortals, on the other hand, was actually good enough to get me interested in moba games, a genre I had zero interest in before. Probably won't get into it until Dota 2 comes out, though. I think I'll start taking it easy on the achievements, though. At first I was getting mostly coal, which was fine. But now I seem to be getting coupons almost exclusively. I mean, look at this http://steamcommunity.com/id/FLD/inventory/ Mostly 50% off games that either cost 5-10$ or that I already own. Not one but TWO coupons for Fallout 3. And I actually got the Beat Hazard one shortly after buying the game. It was fun to do the achievs and craft coal in a gambling kinda way, maybe win a game. But now it's starting to feel like a waste of time. I still think this is the best "event" Valve have done so far. It's just the coupons that weren't that great of an idea.
  12. Well, after struggling to get it to work all evening, I finally managed to play an hour of Rusty Hearts to get.... a second 50% Fallout 3 coupon That one actually stung a bit. Coal would have been preferrable! I did manage to craft Serious Sam HD First Encounter earlier today, though. I already own it, but at least it's something to trade.
  13. I'll trade you for it if there's anything in here that interests you. http://steamcommunity.com/id/FLD/inventory/ I also have Shadowgrounds and Shadowgrounds Survivor, but for some reason it doesn't seem to be showing when I view my inventory through that link.
  14. Also grabbed this at the last minute Because people talking about it made me look it up and it's pretty damn intriguing.
  15. Started playing SpaceChem before going to bed last night. Holy shit, that game is brilliant! Puzzle solving has never been so goddamned satisfying! One took me at least 40mins to figure out, but when I finally did it, damn it felt good!

  16. I'll trade you a Valve 50% coupon for some coal. At least you'll have a use for it. http://steamcommunity.com/id/FLD
  17. Didn't quite reach the 10$ sweet spot I'd been holding off for, but I'm a weak man and I figured 15$ is good enough. Also, I don't think it'll actually go down to 10$ anytime soon, so even if I don't play it right away, I'll very likely get around to it before it goes on sale again.
  18. Oh man, I'd trade you Tropico but I have nothing that comes even close to being of equal value. I did win my first games today, though. Shadowgrounds and Shadowgrounds Survivor, which I already own from a Humble Bundle lol Honestly, I think this is the most fun event Valve have done so far. At least each achievement you complete gets you something more than just a contest entry.
  19. Mine isn't great, honestly. It's a Saitek Cyborg, but not the current one that's been made into a 360 controller. It's the previous model, with like an.. "FPS Precision" button/mode. The only thing I really like about it is that it's modular. I can take out that gray piece and flip it around so the left stick and d-pad switch places. Also, up until recently, it was very broken. Whenever I tried to calibrate it, the driver would crash when I'd press one of the triggers. Something to do with the rumble feature, which didn't even work in games. I eventually found a fix on some forum (had to delete a registry entry...) and now rumble works, but it was kind of a pain. Also, some games detect it and configure it automatically, but other games simply don't seem to see it or won't allow me bind anything to it. I wouldn't really recommend it.
  20. Oh, you won't believe how much better Super Meat Boy plays with a controller. I mean, it's obvious that it's going to be easier. But after playing it mostly with a keyboard, when I finally gave it a shot with my gamepad I was shocked by how much it improved the precision of my jumps and timing.
  21. Finally got my seventh piece of coal, and crafted it to get.... 50% off World of Goo Which I already own, of course!
  22. Too lazy to make my own hotlinks, so I'm stealing yours Also
  23. I must say, Alien prequel or not, this is looking pretty damn awesome!
  24. Hmm, I expected Space Marine would get a 50% off daily deal. And now that it has, I'm quite tempted to get it. Probably the only "expensive" game of the sale I'd get, anyway. Has anyone played it? I loved the demo and love the 40K universe in general, but is it worth 25$?
