  1. Nope. I've done all the "free" achievements so far, so I've downloaded quite a few F2P games. Thank God for unlimited bandwidth. It was kind of a mixed bag. CrimeCraft was absolute and utter shit, Spiral Knights was just not for me and Rusty Hearts was... okay, I guess. Not good enough for me to keep playing, but it was decent. Rise of Immortals, on the other hand, was actually good enough to get me interested in moba games, a genre I had zero interest in before. Probably won't get into it until Dota 2 comes out, though. I think I'll start taking it easy on the achievements, though. At first I was getting mostly coal, which was fine. But now I seem to be getting coupons almost exclusively. I mean, look at this http://steamcommunity.com/id/FLD/inventory/ Mostly 50% off games that either cost 5-10$ or that I already own. Not one but TWO coupons for Fallout 3. And I actually got the Beat Hazard one shortly after buying the game. It was fun to do the achievs and craft coal in a gambling kinda way, maybe win a game. But now it's starting to feel like a waste of time. I still think this is the best "event" Valve have done so far. It's just the coupons that weren't that great of an idea.
  2. Well, after struggling to get it to work all evening, I finally managed to play an hour of Rusty Hearts to get.... a second 50% Fallout 3 coupon That one actually stung a bit. Coal would have been preferrable! I did manage to craft Serious Sam HD First Encounter earlier today, though. I already own it, but at least it's something to trade.
  3. I'll trade you for it if there's anything in here that interests you. http://steamcommunity.com/id/FLD/inventory/ I also have Shadowgrounds and Shadowgrounds Survivor, but for some reason it doesn't seem to be showing when I view my inventory through that link.
  4. Also grabbed this at the last minute Because people talking about it made me look it up and it's pretty damn intriguing.
  5. Started playing SpaceChem before going to bed last night. Holy shit, that game is brilliant! Puzzle solving has never been so goddamned satisfying! One took me at least 40mins to figure out, but when I finally did it, damn it felt good!

  6. I'll trade you a Valve 50% coupon for some coal. At least you'll have a use for it. http://steamcommunity.com/id/FLD
  7. Didn't quite reach the 10$ sweet spot I'd been holding off for, but I'm a weak man and I figured 15$ is good enough. Also, I don't think it'll actually go down to 10$ anytime soon, so even if I don't play it right away, I'll very likely get around to it before it goes on sale again.
  8. Oh man, I'd trade you Tropico but I have nothing that comes even close to being of equal value. I did win my first games today, though. Shadowgrounds and Shadowgrounds Survivor, which I already own from a Humble Bundle lol Honestly, I think this is the most fun event Valve have done so far. At least each achievement you complete gets you something more than just a contest entry.
  9. Mine isn't great, honestly. It's a Saitek Cyborg, but not the current one that's been made into a 360 controller. It's the previous model, with like an.. "FPS Precision" button/mode. The only thing I really like about it is that it's modular. I can take out that gray piece and flip it around so the left stick and d-pad switch places. Also, up until recently, it was very broken. Whenever I tried to calibrate it, the driver would crash when I'd press one of the triggers. Something to do with the rumble feature, which didn't even work in games. I eventually found a fix on some forum (had to delete a registry entry...) and now rumble works, but it was kind of a pain. Also, some games detect it and configure it automatically, but other games simply don't seem to see it or won't allow me bind anything to it. I wouldn't really recommend it.
  10. Oh, you won't believe how much better Super Meat Boy plays with a controller. I mean, it's obvious that it's going to be easier. But after playing it mostly with a keyboard, when I finally gave it a shot with my gamepad I was shocked by how much it improved the precision of my jumps and timing.
  11. Finally got my seventh piece of coal, and crafted it to get.... 50% off World of Goo Which I already own, of course!
  12. Too lazy to make my own hotlinks, so I'm stealing yours Also
  13. I must say, Alien prequel or not, this is looking pretty damn awesome!
  14. Hmm, I expected Space Marine would get a 50% off daily deal. And now that it has, I'm quite tempted to get it. Probably the only "expensive" game of the sale I'd get, anyway. Has anyone played it? I loved the demo and love the 40K universe in general, but is it worth 25$?

Now just have to wait 4 hours for the download to finish.

  15. Can't believe I didn't think of Portal 2 instantly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsuWrntBz6E
  16. Eh, why not. Haven't got much, though. 50% off Valve games, 25% off THQ and a copy of Portal from a while back.
  17. Decided to get it before the deal ends because knowing myself I would've probably regretted not getting it the very second the deal ended. Also
  18. Can't embed this and it doesn't seem to be on youtube yet, but Holy. Mother. Of. God. http://www.joblo.com...hobbit_auj_trlr Everything just looks... perfect. Quite simply perfect. I'm actually a fan of Guillermo del Toro and would've loved to see his take on the material. But seeing this just makes me think "Thank fucking God Peter Jackson came back!"
  19. Alright, here's one more. What's that? Mass Effect 2 didn't come out this year, you say? Well, the PS3 version did! Also, this is the (superior, imo) London Philharmonic Orchestra's rendition of the piece from their Greatest Video Game Music album, which came out less than 2 months ago. So there. edit: oh what the hell, the album did come out this year and it's too awesome to be ignored. Usually not a fan of Halo, but this is just fucking epic.
  20. Could probably come up with a few more if I tried, but this is all I got off the top of my head. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZiN6t7K7txw
  21. Holy crap, you can actually win pretty much any game then?! edit: oh crap, it begins... Just did the Dungeons of Dredmor achievement and got a piece of coal and 25% off any THQ game. Now I'm downloading Psychonauts and Spiral Knights to get more. Damnit, Valve! Oh well, at least I didn't need to buy anything.
  22. Yeah, I feel like I haven't played Tropico 3 (or its expansion) anywhere near enough to justify getting 4 anytime soon. Plus, from what I understand, it's largely the same game. Kinda tempted to get Recettear, though. The demo made it look like a fun game, but I always thought it seemed a bit overpriced at 20$.
  23. Need to finish season 2 first. I think the last episodes I watched were Still got two about 2 weeks before uni starts up again, though, so that should leave me more than enough time to get up to date on both.
  24. Nice. Really loved that two-parter. I was thinking I'd wait a bit before watching Tennant's last few specials. Space them out a bit, make it last. Maybe catch up on Torchwood a bit. Children of Earth is supposed to be pretty good. But now you got me curious and I kinda want to just rush through it to see the new stuff
  25. I knew that Russel T. Davies had left and that Steven Moffat was replacing him. And it seems like companions change every couple of seasons. But a new TARDIS? That's news to me. But yeah, watched the season 4 finale last night and it very much felt like they were bringing closure to all the major characters of the past few seasons. So I didn't really expect any of them to return going forward Oh well, at least there's still Torchwood for my Captain Jack fix. Also, there's a difference in the sense that I grew much more attached to Tennant's Doctor than to Eccleston's. I mean, the latter was only around for one season. And there's just something about the way Tennant played the Doctor as a kind of mad genius that resonated with me. Might be because I'm more used to american TV/movies, but I found it very refreshing. So Smith has much bigger shoes to fill. But it's good to hear you felt the same way and weren't disappointed. I have seen literally nothing of Smith's Doctor, so I really have no reason to be pessimistic about it. It's just that the last three seasons have turned me into quite the David Tennant fan.
