  1. Prototypes are direct downloads. I can grab them and megaupload them for you if you want.
  2. I completed Homefront in slightly less than 4 hours. Yeah...well...your mum! Wasn't there also an old video of someone completing Morrowind in like..15 minutes, or something?
  3. *ignores imminent shitstorm argument* ... Modern Warfare 3 I actually tried starting it last week and the very first mission gave me this overwhelming feeling of "Ugh, I played this fucking game multiple times before!!" and promptly quit. Then yesterday I didn't feel like playing Skyrim, so I fired it up to give it another shot. This time I somehow managed to get into it a bit more and finished the first mission. I kept playing and about five missions in something unexpected happened: I realized I was having a blast. Maybe my expectations were simply too low because of Modern Warfare 2, but I think the game is a shitload of fun. They really cranked up the "crazy thrill ride" factor, and that's what I like most about the series. It seemed like every other mission made me giggle and grin like an idiot because of how ridiculously insane, over-the-top and downright fucking badass it all was. It probably also helped that they replaced the "regular soldier" part of the campaign with a fucking Delta Force squad. I'm easy to please when it comes to this: put me in the role of a special ops guy and make me go through missions that make me feel like a complete badass and I'll have fun simply getting into character. ...unless the game is too easy and kinda boring... *cough* Medal of Honor *cough* It's by no means a perfect game nor does it breathe new life into the series. It's not as good as COD4 (which I don't think the series is ever going to top anyway) and they break new ground in the art of having a ridiculously short campaign (main menu says I completed it in 5h12mins! ). But it's nowhere near as stupid as MW2 and I thought it was a lot of fun. Really glad I didn't buy it, though. I'm probably the last person on earth who still plays COD for the single-player, so with no interest in MP, there's really no way to justify paying 60 bucks for this. Only way I'll be buying this is the same way I bought MW2: two years later, for 15 bucks on Steam. And now, just because holy shit Oh, and the Dualshock is the best controller, period.
  4. Already own Crayon Physics and Uplink, but I grabbed it anyway for Defcon and Darwinia/Multiwinia. A while back, I kept hearing about how great Darwinia is supposed to be. Also, I've been a fan of Introversion for years. Played Uplink to death on my old PC.
  5. Yeah, I'm planning on replaying MGS 1 soon as well, before I grab the HD Collection. I really don't see why you wouldn't play through a PS1 game... There is more to games than graphics, you know.
  6. Actually, if I remember correctly, it was much more complex than that. Something like a joystick click would not be sufficient. I guess a trigger might work if it's pressure sensitive, though. If I remember correclty, holding the button VERY lightly would do one thing, holding it hard would do another, a simple press and release would do something else. It was mostly for CQC, I think. It took me a while before I realized it and finally understood how to do specific moves.
  7. The conversation where I.. *fades away*
  8. +1! This is the best feature the service has, and it will keep me subscribed to plus. Without it, I would probably decide to stop even with all the discounted games/addons... Hey, Strangelove didn't say that! I did!
  9. If this is legit, then Notch is officially awesome. http://i.imgur.com/5HTia.jpg

He posted that off his twitter, so yes, I'd say it's legit.

Ah okay, saw it somewhere else so I wasn't sure.

  10. Well, after playing all evening, I have finished Assassin's Creed Revelations. I decided to write a mini-review, but it turned out much longer than I planned. I don't spoil any big plot points, but I do discuss the impacts each elements of the story have and how I felt about them so I'll put it in a spoiler tag just in case.
  11. ITT: Sickos talk about murdering kids.
  12. Oh, I thought it was developed by Stardock. Also, kind of a hypocrite that Wardell guy lol The fact that the game has no proper campaign kinda makes me less interested in the game, though :/ Then again, if there's no campaign then I won't feel any guilt over never finishing it like I do with most RTSes I play
  13. Oh, cool. I'll definitely grab it at some point, then.
  14. You know, I've always been curious about that series and was hoping it would eventually show up on Steam. Is this like, the first game? Or a stand-alone expansion or what?
  15. Forgot to post, but I received this earlier this week. I've been enjoying Hot Pursuit a lot, and it made me want to try something a bit more on the simulation side. Gran Turismo still seems like it would be too much for me, so this seemed like a good middle ground.

  17. Did they modify the controls or are they just screwed out of some actions?
  18. After listening to it pretty much exclusively for the past week, I think I can safely proclaim that the London Philharmonic Orchestra's Greatest Video Game Music album is FUCKING RAD!

Sure. Let's go with that. :P

  19. Yeah, the controls are very deep in MGS3. Took me a few playthroughs to fully master everything. Like, understanding you have to click the damn analog stick to interrogate enemies. The game really made me appreciate how pressure-sensitive the buttons of the dualshock 2 were. THIS. The last scene with boss made my eyes misty, but I kept a STIFF UPPER LIP. However, the EVA portion of the ending... cried. The Boss part is what got to me. I didn't even remember the Eva part until you brought it up and I actually tried to remember it. Man, this thread is seriously making me ache for the HD Collection I was planning on getting it next month anyway, but now I kinda want to just get it now even if it means being completely broke for the next two weeks...
  20. Yeah, the ending of MGS3 is some powerful stuff. I'm pretty sure I teared up a little bit the first time I finished the game. I can't remember any other game prior to it that got me genuinely emotional. I still firmly believe that MGS3 is the best in the series. MGS4 was awesome. Just not as awesome as MGS3.
  21. That would be awesome. Yeah, it's pretty big. Lots of big games come outta there, too, so they obviously have a large workforce. Kinda cool to have such a big studio in my city
  22. I'm confused. A few places are reporting on a supposed Metal Gear Solid 5 announcement, but then the actual articles only mention an interview with Kojima in the next issue of UK PlayStation magazine... As unsurprising as this might be, you'd think they would make a much bigger deal out of this...

It says right on the cover of the UK Playstation Magazine that Kojima wants to kill off Snake. Dude's old and not expected to live longer than six months or so anyways, so don't be surprised if we get someone new for MGS5.

I agree that at this point any MGS 5 with Solid Snake as the main character will seriously undermine the impact of MGS 4 as the end of the saga.

I would love more proper non-handheld MGS, though :(

And as awesome as I'm sure Rising will be, that feels more like a spin-off what with the focus not being stealth.

Frankly, at this point the best thing would be to bring in a new protagonist and start a completely new story. Maybe even drop or replace the Solid in the...

the Solid in the title. Just, you know, as long as the core gameplay remains faithful to the main series.

  23. I see I guess I'll just have to wait and hope for the best. Hopefully they started work on it a while ago and aren't rushing it. It really needs to be bigger and better than ACB and ACR. Another thing that bugs me is, as big as Rome was (and I think Constantinople might actually be smaller than that), it still felt small when compared to the first two games, which both had 3 or 4 cities each. Sure, some of the early cities were smaller in ACII, but at least it made for a change of scenery. I understand the need to keep things contained in a single setting if they're putting them out yearly, but that's only acceptable for "side-stories" like Brotherhood and Revelations. ACIII needs to step it up and have a much bigger scope, otherwise it's going to be a huge disappointment (at least for me).
  24. I've been playing AC Revelations for most of yesterday and all day today. Not very far into the story, though. Spent most of the day renovating Constantinople and training my assassins. So far it's about on par with Brotherhood, with some slight gameplay improvements. The hookblade in particular is pretty awesome. It actually helps with the free running/climbing beyond just ziplining. The gist of it is very much the same, though. And I find Constantinople to be nowhere near as beautiful or fun to explore as Venice or Rome were. These yearly releases have been fun, but I really hope that they take their time for ACIII to significantly improve on the formula. Brotherhood and Revelations are pretty much AC 2.1 and 2.2 and III will need to be more than that. They already confirmed another release for next year, though, so I guess we'll see...
