  1. I find 10-20 hours to be the sweet spot for most games but I expect 40+ hours out of RPGs. But I'd rather a game be great and only 10 hours long than 20 hours long but half of it is artificial length like boring side quests and padding. Though it really varies depending on the game. The MGS games are notorious for lasting less than 5 hours when you skip all the cutscenes, but I don't mean that because for me a big part of the experience is the story and the first time you don't skip it. Stuff like COD with its 6 hours short campaign, though, is a bit more irritating. And I'm not a huge online gamer, so I never include multiplayer into the equation. I haven't touched Black Ops in months and only played the MP for about 25 hours, which is actually quite a lot for me. Normally I'll play online for maybe 10 hours and then move on to something else. Hell, I never even tried Dead Space 2's online. That's why I normally shy away from mp only games like Brink. TF2 is the exception here, and I don't think I ever reached the 30 hours mark on it.
  2. Notice I put that word in quotes... While the game wasn't incomplete at launch, now they are releasing a new version with new content, so yes, the first release has become the "incomplete" one.
  3. Can't really blame people for feeling ripped off, though. I mean, the "incomplete" version came out like 6 months ago. Personally, I'm really glad I held off on buying.
  4. So, rumors about Ultimate MvC3 turned out to be true. That's kinda why I had no interest in the original release. Though I wonder if I should get Ultimate when it comes out, or wait for the inevitable "Super Ultimate MvC3: "Give Us Moar Money" Edition ....

So, in like, what, 9 months?

    3. WTF

      WTF

Well the entire roster has been leaked as well due to Capcom's bad website asset management skills.

Yeah, saw that earlier. Really glad to see some Vergil love :D

  5. Man, that was awesome I can't wait for a proper trailer, now! I'm really digging how ominous this is. Considering that the villain is Bane, I'm thinking Bats is going to take quite a bit of damage. It's kinda weird how they're calling it the conclusion, though. I mean, I realize this is supposed to be Nolan's last batfilm, but conclusion sort of implies... I don't know, closure, I guess? I can't imagine how they could possibly give a definitive ending to something like Batman. Also, I still think it kinda sucks that they never used the riddler. Would've loved to see the Nolanverse's take on that character.
  6. Just watched the Breaking Bad season premiere. Holy crap, I missed that show! :D A whole year is way too long for something this good to be off the air.

I literally just started watching the first episode! Fucking amazing! And I rapidly devoured the second.

But I don't want to stop...

Then don't! It only gets better anyway!

  7. I'm sort of the opposite of that. I "get" the game well enough, I just need to work on my speed, really. But put me on a real drumkit or even in freestyle mode and.... I need the game to tell me what to play otherwise I just don't know what the hell I'm doing.
  8. Recently started playing again two games I hadn't touched in a while. BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger and Rock Band 3 on drums. BlazBlue, what can I say, I played a few hours last night and again today and the tip of my thumb still hurts. As for Rock Band, it's been a few months since I played drums but somehow I'm better than I was before. I was previously stuck on medium but now I started working my way through RB3's setlist on hard and haven't hit a wall yet. It's weird but I found that taking an extended (but not too long) break from the game can actually help you get better when you're stuck. I guess it's because you keep the muscle memory but lose the bad habits you developed on lower difficulties. Or something like that.
  9. I also like how the IGN review praised the game's originality. That's something too far few games dare experiment with and I was happy to see they it acknowledged. Some of my favorite games this gen were the more unusual titles. Flawed but unique games like Mirror's Edge or even L.A. Noire. I still love me some Uncharted, Dead Space and Call of Duty, but you always know what to expect with those games.
  10. Actually, I'm pretty sure there was. Or, at the very least, there's a trailer that exists and people have seen it. I'm just waiting for the trailer to become available online...
  11. Well, you're obviously a fanboy then! Kotaku are objective. Because they are journalists. I don't get your attitude. If anything it was a completely subjective statement. One that is believed by the writer of the article and not that it is fact. That's why I still read Kotaku along with other sites... multiple viewpoints and opinions. Objectivity is boring anyways. Eh, I was making a joke. I'm not sure how you didn't get that. But like Dean said, that statement was hardly presented as being an opinion. It was stated as fact. And yes, I do expect objectivity coming from journalists. Kotaku's writers only barely qualify as journalists, though, but that's beside the point. How about unprofessional then?

      Yeah, I wasn't 100% sure when I typed it...

  14. Those have been running for a while, yeah. But I don't think they're exclusively about Japan. Can't say I ever read any of them, though.
  15. Yeah, I was coming to mention this. Seems like an especially bad choice for Speak-Up... I really can't tell whether it was picked as a joke or not.
  16. Actually just caught it on youtube and was coming to edit my post accordingly. Guess that's a no on Pixar, then. Looks decent enough, but the trailer doesn't have that little something to get me fired up about the project yet.
  17. I'd actually figured you worked in the industry from a few of your previous posts, WTF. That's pretty cool. If I can't make it into the computer science program I'm hoping to get into, then I think my second choice will be film studies. As for John Carter, is the trailer online? I've been looking forward to that one for a while. Is it still being made by Pixar?
  18. IGN gave it a 9.0 That's honestly higher than I expected. Not that I thought the game would be bad or anything like that. I just didn't think it would score that high.
  19. Who's vilifying Joel now? All anyone did was comment on how crazy the accusation towards Dean was and how suddenly Joel backed out of the discussion. I think everyone realizes that it's Crecente making the accusation, not Joel.
  20. Nah the sender's name was definitely yours (Dean Bowes). Though now that I'm checking again, I think it might not even be an invite The mail looks more like a notification that you posted a comment, so you must have had already added me to your circles at that point. But I'm 100% sure I did not have a google+ account prior to that, and I set it up by clicking on a "Learn more about Goggle+" button in that email. Though if you did use the email I have registered on here, then I guess google somehow knew it was mine and worked its magic?
  21. gplus.to/FLD I don't think I ever thanked Dean for the invite. So thanks, Dean! Though I am curious about one thing. I kept checking the hotmail inbox for the address I used to register here, and the invite wasn't coming. Then I checked one of my gmail inboxes, and the invite was in there. What am I missing here? How'd you get that address?
  22. Excellent book. Absolutely love Vonnegut. I preferred Cat's Cradle to Slaughterhouse-Five, though. Haven't read a book in a while, sadly. I actually have a few books I started a while back and haven't finished yet, one of which is Fahrenheit 451 :/ I also really need to read the final Dark Tower book But right now I'm reading the horror manga Uzumaki. I'm only a few chapters in but it's already pretty fucked up!
  23. Yeah, it'd be cool if he started posting here, I guess. But considering what happened, I'm not so sure he will. Who knows, though.
