  1. I stopped collecting once I realized seeing a stack of game cases lined up on a shelf wasn't making me feel any better. Not to mention that perhaps Ive always been a mainstream gamer. A significant amount of PS2 games I own got remasters, ports, or remakes, so now I own 2 versions, or thanks to Vita 3 versions(MGS series). I also own quite a few PS1 games and most of them have digital releases on PSN. I play all these games on Vita or PS3, so my physical copies are useless now. And I would love to get rid of my old versions, but theyre pretty worthless. And as far as selling games, so few games go up in value, at least on a permanent basis. Its so small a percentage of games that it pretty much doesnt exist. Theres always a reprint or a digital release nowadays for most things. Shits not worth it. The only thing worth it is to sell a game a month after it comes out, which is not something I ever do. Thats the only way you'll make any of your money back. It's also demoralizing to see stacks of collector's editions of games lined up at Gamestop's top shelves. most of them on sale 6 months later, often priced lower than the regular version since these things take too much shelf space in stores and too much space at home. They seem to not really belong in life as a whole. The collecting thing is over. Unless some supervillain wipes the internet clean, we'll always have a back up of a back up of a back up. Very different from losing things back in the 1930s.

  3. I'm not 100%, but I'm pretty sure the original name waa "Brazbrue."

it was "Brazabru", but close enough.

  4. (No disrespect, but I didnt read the whole thing and I so heavily disagree that a discussion with me about this subject would go nowhere, so this is all Im going to contribute.)
  5. I really don't get the fascination nerds have with Nathan Fillion.

I'm guessing it has to do with Firefly or something. That seems to be the common thread as far as I can tell.

Having never seen Firefly, it would explain my lack of fascination with him.

Similar with Simon Pegg. "one of us" and all that. Big reason for Tennants popularity.

  6. I used to kick ass at Twisted Metal Black, but now.... :(

  7. Japanese boxart for 2.5. I love it. Ive always been a Nomura defender. I feel like hes actually getting better. Yeah, he had a really stupid "tribal tattoo everything/place random shit where ever" phase in the early 2000s, but he's over it now. If you dont know what I mean look up "Dirge of Cerberus" or anything from the compilation of FF7. People can talk shit about his love of belts, but this shit is so much worse.
  8. Yeah, Xillia is good. It has some likable characters, the dialogue is actually pretty solid for a jrpg, and the story isnt anything special, but it does push the game forward. Its alright.
  9. Star Ocean TLH has a pretty good battle system, but everything else is terrible. The graphics and music are decent, but the plot, the dialogue and the voice acting are really bad. Terrible characters, especially the main character. Its a really slow game too. It just felt tedious. I could say the same about Xillia, but I actually found it kind of charming. It wasnt an exceptional jrpg, but Xillia felt like a good PS2 era jrpg.
  10. Besides the stuff you already mentioned...ummm...Nier. I liked Child of Light a lot. South Park: Stick of Truth is pretty rad. Costume Quest was alright. Yup, thats about it for me. I think overall home consoles got the shaft when it came to Jrpgs. Most of the good stuff was on PSP/DS. I also felt that there really wasnt a huge abundance of good western rpgs. Or bad ones either. We were inundated with rpgs of all kinds during the PS1 and PS2 era, so thats what I was used to. Or maybe I was just tired of them by the time PS3 came around since the first few rpgs I played on my PS3 were terrible. 2008 was a slim year. I will say though, stay away from Star Ocean: The Last Hope, Eternal Sonata, White Knight Chronicles and Cross Edge. Theyre all terrible.
  11. Ive always felt the same way. If someone is a piece of shit, it doesnt matter that theyre related by blood to you. Theyre still pieces of shit. Im also of the opinion that parents or elders don't "deserve" respect simply for the fact that they're your parents or that they're old. You have to earn that shit.
  12. I only got to gold, so Super Mario Bros. for me I guess.
  13. I was going to say this was disappointing, but it's actually more than that. Its shameful.
  14. The first one kind of sucked. Supposedly this fixes a lot of the first one's problems.
  15. Scratch that, Amazon seller flaked out on me. http://www.sadtrombone.com/ Clearly a sign from god that it's not worth $30.
  16. I didnt really play Zelda OoT when it was brand new, did anyone here? How much of a pain in the ass was it to get that stupid optional sword? I cant imagine most people getting it back in the 90s.
  17. I had to read up on the P4G ending, and on the costumes. Otherwise Id never known about either. Chrono Trigger also had some ridiculously convoluted ways to get certain items. I played it on the DS for the first time, so I had the internet to help me. I cant imagine getting those items without it.
  18. How do you all feel about games that have a lot of content but dont ever explain how to acquire it? On one hand it's nice to not be spoonfed everything and finding something few do is a nice surprise. On the other hand, you're probably missing out on a lot of cool shit yourself. It sucks when you missed something awesome in a game due to something really small and insignificant. I bring this up because Persona 4 has a lot going on and often few or very vague clues on how to acquire or make certain things happen. Including the best ending. A lot of things have patterns, but there so many patterns and stipulations that you forgot all about it. For example, the game has a lot of costumes you can acquire. Some of them you get automatically and some you can buy. Then there are a ton you can be given. By a single character. All you have to do is talk to them. On specific dates. Often 3 or 4 specific days a month with no obvious pattern whatsoever. Normally not a problem, except that character is inside the other world, which wastes an evening going in and out of it. So you'd have to randomly go in there wasting a precious evening of other very significant gameplay and hope you're there the right day. I can't say I'm a fan of that. Another game is Borderlands 2. There's so many cool legendary weapons and shields and items you will definitely miss because you have to play the game an ungodly amount of hours and even then nothing is guaranteed. I think a lot of stuff has less than a 1% chance of obtaining it. It feels good when you get something awesome, but it sucks that you're missing out on so much because you're not obsessive enough over the game.
  19. Are people's nostalgia strong enough that if a new Matrix sequel came out next year people would be excited?

I should add part of my love of the series extends beyond the main film trilogy, Animatrix is a great watch and usually pretty cheap to pick up, even on Blu-Ray. I strongly recommend it.

  20. You know, its not even about them becoming third party or that their console sucks or what the brand is worth, its about having to spend hundreds of dollars to play a handful of games. I personally wouldn't care if they stopped releasing home consoles and focused on handhelds from here on out. Their handhelds have always had great third and first party support and popular in pretty much every region. This generation so far to me has seemed like the 3DS and the Wii U are dividing the same pool of games. Most of their exclusives on Wii U can run just fine on 3DS and vice versa. In all honesty, isnt the WIi U basically a big ass 3DS without the 3D anyways? Two screens and about the same amount of buttons. Even the graphical power is negligible enough to not really matter, especially to Nintendo fans. Nintendo should just release a more powerful 3DS with an hdmi cable and theyre set. Same fucking thing. Fuck it.

My friends think I was the one who did it with the camera at their wedding. It wasn't me. I swear!

Yeah, to a past g/f. Wait...when I was 16 I went on cam and showed my dick to girls(probably pedophiles). OH GAWD! I just remembered a horrible story...I did the aforementioned...and thought it was a girl. The other cam was in a girl's room...then...THEN! HER DAD SHOWED UP! But not mad. No...he was fapping.

  22. Well, at least it shuts off. I wish I could shut it off for most of the games ive played on it.
  23. Well, since the Gamecube a lot of people would say that the only reason they bought a Nintendo console was for the exclusives. I know thats true for me and the Wii and Wii U. I just bought them for Mario and Metroid games. And since the Wii, all the good third party games have been on PS3/360/PC. So yeah, its just easier to move Nintendo games to another console than the other way around. Not to mention that since the Wii, Sony and MS have had the more powerful consoles. While Nintendo now has two dead gimmicks - the Wiimote and the gamepad. Underpowered consoles with forced gimmick controls arent what people want. Don't get me wrong, the Wii struck it big last gen, they sold a ridiculous amount of Wiis, but it was a fad. And I dont think itll ever happen again. Their online system is also a big joke. They easily have the worst account system. Not to mention their support for the Virtual Console is now basically nonexistent. Even the 3DS isnt so hot anymore. Nintendo basically does everything wrong except for their first party games. And you can like the gamepad all you want, but people have voted with their money - it's unnecessary. Hell, most companies that develop games for the Wii U agree. The support that thing has gotten is pathetic. Even Mario games dont use it in any meaningful way. ZombiU has basically been the only game that too real actual advantage of it, and that was a launch title.
